Namasté presents: Earthdance Weekend in Amsterdam On Friday 25th and Saturday 26th of September, Namasté connects with Earthdance for the coming years, to celebrate the World Day of Peace with joined strengths. Entirely in line with the motto of Namasté – ‘Connecting Cultures’ – and the creed of Earthdance – ‘Give Peace a Dance’ – the visitors come into contact with a large blend of worldly cultures during this event. Earthdance Weekend 2009 promises to be a socially justified, alternative dance event, where awareness, the balance between people and nature and spirituality play a key role. Therefore 50% of the profits will go to the humanitarian charities of the 1%Club and the Tibet Support Group, but above all it will be musical adventure of which you return with a backpack filled with inspiration. Earthdance - the worldwide dance festival for peace – has grown to be the world’s largest synchronized international music and dance event. Taking of in 1996 in 22 cities in eighteen countries, Earthdance has grown into a festival spread over more than three hundred cities in sixty countries. The locations vary from the club scene in New York, to in the rain forest of Brazil. Every year on the World Day of Peace over three hundred thousand people all over the world join in this dance for peace. The population in Tibet continues with peaceful protests against Chinese occupation, though, while the they remain extremely abstinent of violence. There will be plenty of taxi’s available to bring you home safe after the event. Travelling per train to the Amsterdam Central Station, it takes a 15 minutes walk to Namasté Queensnight. Walk through the Central Station in the direction of the IJ (rear exit North). Outside turn right. Before passing the Jan Schaefer bridge, the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (pile 2-8) will be at your left hand side. You can also take a taxi from the Central Station square at the side of the Amsterdam centre. At the side of the Amsterdam centre, you can also take Tram 26. Get out at the first stop; “Muziekgebouw”. At the southeast side of the Central Station you can take Tram 25. Get out at the last stop; “Passenger Terminal Amsterdam”. TRAVELLING BY CAR: Approaching Amsterdam, follow the A10 direction exit S114. Leave the A10 at exit S114 (Zeeburg / Artis) and go left. Follow the road, crossing two traffic signs and entering the Piet Hein Tunnel direction Amsterdam Central Station. At the end of the Piet Hein Tunnel, go right at the traffic signs. Follow the road and turn right at the fourth traffic sign. You can park your car at the Passenger Terminal car park for 14 Euro per car. The Passenger Terminal car park is open 24 hours per day, but full is full. Therefore we recommend to travel per public transport. After 24.00 you can also park your car for free at the “Kop van Java Eiland”. From there it is a 5 minutes walk to Namasté - Queensnight by crossing the Jan Schaefer bridge and turning right, going down before warehouse “De Zwijger”. FOOD & BEVERAGES: It is prohibited to bring your own food or drinks, these will be confiscated at the door. On board of the boats will be plenty of bars and a creative kitchen with delighting food.
