Since a few months Phantasm records is on Bandcamp: https://phantasmdigital.bandcamp.com/music

Not only have they put their (all?) discography there at very reasonable price, they've also released few compilations either for single artists or various, using unreleased, obscure or vinyl/single-only stuff:

Looks pretty shady to me, but on the other hand those artists - or at least those releases - are absent from Bandcamp (like Koxbox's "U-Turn" is not in Twisted Rec. profile) so perhaps they somehow got together to release stuff like this way? There's this weird "consistency" to their catalogue and if it wasn't legit it could well include lots more of much more diverse music, right? For now I've refrained from getting anything there, but I'll be observing this.

    Any thoughts?

Eitan Reiter goes Out of Orbit!

One of electronic music's more prolific and diverse voices has a new project and a new album and we are proud to release it in Shamanic Tales Records.

Eitan is well known as one half of LOUD in the Psytrance world and from his ventures into Techno, Acid & Downtempo music as well as a sought-after remixer under his own name.
In the last two years, Eitan decided to take a step back from the stage and devote his whole being into making an album, without taking a specific direction, he really went Out of Orbit. The outcome is about a musical story, about going deep into trance, about shattering genres and borders, it's a trip through sound. It's also about trying to give back and tribute the culture that Eitan feels gave him so much. Wisdom of the Crowds is sort of a collective brainstorming on synthesizers that includes a lot of collaborations with good friends and personal heroes, mostly based on live jams in the studio full of analog sounds. And so it happened that some of the musicians involved in this project include: Shpongle, Art of Trance, X-Dream, Astrix, Astral Projection, Shulman, Perfect Stranger, Gorovich, Dekel & Rocky Tilbor. The time away from performing also made Eitan realize how much he missed the people on the dancefloor, and how important they are for his music. Both of these reasons account for the album's name.

We are incredibly happy to present our slow-burn collaborative album Messages From The Resonator. We hope you enjoy these weird sounds, catchy hooks and floaty atmospheres...

Chris [Geoglyph] and I spent nearly two years working on this on and off, directly collaborating in my little studio room in Bristol. It was a lot of fun to write, and a very different experience from both of our usual processes. A lot of compromises were made, but they were more than made up for in cross-pollination and new ideas that neither of us would have pursued individually. We paid little attention to genre in the creation process, but often used tracks or artists we both dug as a jumping-off point for thinking where to take the next track. Although we think this album is pretty unique in its sound and approach, we owe a lot to artists like International Observer; Greg Hunter; Dub Trees; Ott; Entheogenic; Third Ear Audio; Shpongle; Celtic Cross; Warp Technique et al for shining a sonic light.

We owe a *huge* debt of gratitude to our amazing artist Gareth Hovey for his sublime contribution..! Do go check out his work. And of course a massive Thank You to everyone that helped fund the mastering, artwork and vinyl production via Kickstarter, we couldn't have done it without you.

    Enjoy! - Chris & Morison

The new M-RUN album is out now....

What happened to that beautiful artwork?

Why is there a cup of coffee there????

Why does it sound like it was recorded in mid '90 with all those cheap presets and squeaky high-pitched sounds? It sounds NOTHING like the videos he's been posting on his YT, where it seemed much more contemporary and modern.

And there's "voice work..." again??? I'll pass on this one...

    :(

  7. I've not it them mentioned anywhere (sorry if it was, I'm rarely here lately...), but Jagoa self-released two albums filled with uplifting old-school goa music from his archives. Check them out & buy if possible - right now they're EUR5 each and today all proceeds from Bandcamp sales go in full to the artists (to support them in those difficult times)!

EDIT: Ok, I see 1st album being mentioned on previous page, but with no comments.

I guess most of you are mistaked. It's about mixing not the mastering. Katedra himself has always had this style of mixing: bassy, muddy, industrial. I know because we collaborated long ago on 'Magic Science & Imba - Ghost Town' where he was part of Magic Science, and you can hear his style in the track.

Well, the problem was bass and reverb was stereo all the way down to the lowest of frequencies - this is just something you don't do, regardless of aesthetic choices or style. And it was possible to be fixed in mastering (unless it'd introduce some weird phasing / cancellation issues, but there are ways around it as well).

Oh here's a question, did they ever stop the stupid thing where it re-checks all the plugins after daylight savings? That ALWAYS fucks up something for me (just had to fix a vst it no longer recognized last night, even though the .dll was in the appropriate vst folder)

It did re-initialize them after the most recent ones, so I'd say no (just got Cubase 2 months ago, so wouldn't know about the past).
