you know your not paying for / purchasing artwork and a compact disk, so how can this be ripping you off ?

If a CD is available i do not see the point of buying from stores like beatport etc. buy the cd yeah but for individual tracks ( and as i said before ) that are released on vinyl only or vinyl way before CD release stores like this can serve good purpose but i also agree that they are overpriced

this type of store also gives you access to Wav's of music that is released on vinyl waaay before CD release. good news if you dont buy records / have CD decks but beatport is expensive

You can chat to people you dont even know, claim that your the king of Neptune or a giant bunny called Harvey and no one will qestion you... Or you could send music project files back and forth and write a tune with your buddy. Thats what me and a mate have been doing. the result so far is Proteus. i do this by breaking the mix down in soundforge but then burning with Nero in soundforge drop markers for the places you want the tracks to split ( including the beginning and end of the mix ) convert the markers to regions. In Nero load the regions up in the correct order and choose to burn without gaps ( this may mean double clicking on each region at setting the gap time to " 0 " ) burn ! ...viola

the last release of Logic for the PC was Platinum 5.5, i believe its no longer supported by emagic which is why i switched to live 5

you could probably get the same sound from RGC triangle (free !) which is pretty much a cut down pentagon. although it doesnt state on the webpage what Osc wave forms it has http://www.rgcaudio.com/triangle_II.htm

what is it your after ? the synths or a tutorial on how to get a decent bass sound out of them ? for the latter i have no tutorial, it was just a case of single Osc saw wave, tweaking the filter , filter env and filter env amount until it sounds right. edit : of course there are so many factors that go into making the bass sound nice, not just the synth settings - note lengths, note velocity and also the arrangement of the notes.

Vb-1 sucs.. it has hardly any bass !! each time ive used it ive had to beef it up with Waves Rbass, followed by Eq to notch unwanted harmonics my faves for Bass are RGC pentagon & Synapse Junglist ( using simples Saws ), both require you to notch out unwanted harmonics, but hey thats par for the course with basslines. a good tip for getting a nice round sound is to pay attention to the filter envelope and filter envelope amount.

Bananas ? i would go for the 192 as it has the balanced 1/4" TRS for its analog I/O rather than the RCA jacks on the 2496 go for the 192 if you dont mind spending the $$ im not sure

If your doing all your mixing inside your sequencr then there really is no need for 1010 I/O as long as the card is full duplex with Midi and your hardware mixer routing is capable of setting up stereo send's from each channel you will be fine no matter how many synths, guitars or mic'd up flutes ( as long as your mixer has enough channels to host em all of course )

i would say that both are almost identical except the 1010 has more I/O's - they use the same converters and the 1010lt has them on the card the same as the 2496 I use to own the 1010 not the Lt so the converters were mounted in a breakout box which has the advantage of not receiving interference from other components inside your PC.. whats the rest of your setup ? do you have lots of hardware synths, outboard gear and a large mixer ? if not just go with the 2496.

do you really need 10 outputs and 10 inputs ? after years of owning the 1010 i realised i didnt ( because i switched to mixing withing my sequencer) and dropped down to the 2496, t'is a good card for the $$

over the years i have owned both of these and had extensive use of both of these... All top notch and bug free except the Ozone which was very buggy - the Asio drivers didnt seem to be managing the buffer sizes properly and was getting CPU overloads at very early stages in the production. IMO you cant go wrong with the top 2
