I know very few people, real life or online, who know anything about psytrance or goa (in fact, only one in real life), so I have to be honest and say that I'm a little intimidated asking for a review of a song of mine on a board full of psytrance fans. I feel like a virgin taking off her clothes for the first time in front of the love of her life. This is my second psytrance song. I could submit my first one for review as well, but I'm in the middle of revising it. This is a revised version of this song: The Karaethon Cycle (Tarmon Gaidon Version)

Constructive criticism: First of all, you need to go somewhere with your idea. This 'song' is a loop that shouldn't extend past 15 seconds or so before evolving into something else. 3 minutes without change is not good. Second, a better kick drum sound would help (something with some crack to it), as well as bringing it down a good 6 dB or so.

Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Toi Doi, Transwave, Oforia, Man With No Name are the ones I'm most familiar with. I've got just one compilation called "Goa Vibes 2". Unfortunately I don't have the money to buy music as much as I'd like. I also listen to 4 or 5 different psy streams--that's where I find most of the artists I like.

I use an old version of DP (2.7), and I love it. The new version comes bundled with some softsynths I think, but I don't know what they sound like.

Well, would you believe me if I told you I like psytrance and goa? Lots of stuff actually. Trance, DnB, hardcore, metal, rock, classic rock, new age, industrial. Psy and goa are relatively new to me, so I don't know a whole lot of artists. I write various kinds of electronic music. I've got two psytrance songs at the moment. Links in my signature.

Digital Performer 2.7, Reason 2.5, ReBirth 2.0, Emu Orbit V2, Novation BassStation Rack, Roland XP-10 (used as a MIDI controller, oh how I hate it!), Mac G4 466MHz (1.6GHz G4 upgrade card on the way). And occasionally my Ibanez RG250 guitar with Ibanez TubeKing distortion pedal and a Dean Markley amp I don't really care for. On average, probably about 3 months. One month is flying for me, and I've got a couple that have been around for 2+ years that aren't done. Mac OS9 Other than that...I'd not say tedious is the right word, but sometimes I spend so much time getting the right sound that by the time I've got the sound, I've forgotten the part I had in mind for it.
