1. X-Dream - We Interface, I wasn't thrilled about this at first either, but thought some of the (non vocal) tracks were allright. Now I find even those utterly boring. This must be the disappointment of the year. I can't believe I went and used a blank CD to burn this.

  2. Okay man, the euro countries were differentiated. This implies that there is a distinction to be made between these countries (i.e. different cultures). Your rant about me not accepting that Canada in in NA, is totally stupid. That's not what I was bitching about.

    READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS, PEOPLE.

Well if you would actually READ before bitching, you would know that there is a reason why other continents were not differentiated, that is because there can be only 50 entries in the poll, so not all countries can fit in. Although you may question some choices in the poll, I think combining NA, consisting of only two countries, was a good move. If, for instance, Finland, Norway and Sweden had been combined as Scandinavia, I wouldn't bitch about it even though that would not even be technically correct.

  3. ok Im sure some people will hate me with all their energies after this one but:

am I the only one that thinks shpongle is over-rated?

I mean, sure, are you shpongled was great but... tales of the inexpressible had some baaad moments...  I guess only the name has a lot of influence too, not just the music..

    flame me now =)

No you are not the only one. I didn't even like Are You Shpongled that much, Behind Closed Eyelids is good, that's about it.

This poll would have been more interesting without Shpongle, more variation. The only information you get from it now is that yes, Shpongle is overrated. :)

  4. indeed their album is genious... I heard the live this NYE, and I was impressed...

The thing is, the first part of the live was from that first cd, and this part was great.. the second part was stuff I didnt know, more beatless, less basslines, etc.. I didnt like so much..

and I read an interview from the beginning of 2004, that seb was working on the second ooze cd.. I wonder if it will be like the second part of their live, which I didnt like so much .. I hope they keep working on the bass and beats

Yeah those laidback dub bass beats is what made it so great. Excellent stuff on a hot summer day accompanied with some cold beer. :D Too bad if their new stuff isn't as good. :(

  5. Zero Barrier is EXACTLY the kind of Goa music i love the most,,,deep and atmospheric.

    208317

Yep Zero Barrier is amazing track.

Does anyone have a CD quality version of this album or is the mp3 all there is? I'd highly appreciate a lossless FLAC rip e.g.

  6. And why don't we ever see such amazing collaborations like ones on this poll for real??

Probably because in real life the results wouldn't be that great. I mean hasn't Posford been in tons of project yet none come even close to his own.

To have a chance on working I think the artists would need to have similar style so they would complement each other, not contradict.

  7. Was Jimmy Hendrix like a monkey on a typewriter or playing around and letting the inspiration flow?

Or did he carefully imagine how he's solos should sound beforehand?

    205439

The example was extreme, real world isn't. Yet I'd say that the scene today is filled with "artists" who have the technical skills to work their equipment but no real talent to create MUSIC.

I suppose real talents can both compose and improvise and make either method sound good.

  8. It would be interesting to know how the process goes for really GOOD artists like Juno Reactor, Chi-A.D., Pleiadians, etc. I tend to agree that if the process of creating is "fiddlind around" then that's most likely how it will also sound when finished. aka 99% of today's psy, aka not worth listening. But like I said, it's the result that matters in the end. If a monkey hacking a typewriter comes up with Shakespeare then I'm willing to take it for what it is, not how it was made. It just isn't very likely.

  9. yea dream theater does that kind of stuff.. but they also make music from nothing like their liquid tension expriment albums are just 2 weeks of jamming in studio

    205429

Both Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment are great though, especially LTE2, awesome stuff. Pretty much the only non electronic stuff I like. Not sure why exactly it just sounds so much better than the usual rock music. :)

  10. I don't see what difference it makes how it's done per se, it's the result that matters. Of course, the reason why so much of "music" today sounds random probably is the fact that it is random, and thus crap. But if someone gets good results without having an idea behind it then I don't really care, I guess it's just less likely to get good results like that.

  11. Did some tests with VBR too, and there she could not determine it at all. On none of the speakers.

    205187

Does this mean you would agree that the comment about dowloading was a tad bit exaggerated considering that even the scene rips are at least VBR these days? :)

Listening on a poor sound system can take away a lot from the listening pleasure, in some cases it's not even worth it I suppose, but if you have very hard time even differentiating mp3 and CD then that's hardly much a way from the enjoyment I'd say.

  12. I say trance to "progressive"

    205135

Hehe. I thought the exact same thing after writing my post there. I was thinking to myself like what should we call them then. And like you, I would call this so called "progressive trance" just trance, because that's what it pretty much is. For me todays proggy stuff seems the closest continuation to the german trance I used to listen in the nineties when all of it was just trance.

I don't really know what "Full On" should be called then. Any ideas? :D

  13. I'm with you and I've posted about the use of term 'progressive' myself before I think. IMO name should be something descriptive and like you say neither of those really is. "Full On" isn't really that full on, there's lot of old school goa that in my opinion is much more energetic, exploding and thus "full on" and "progressive" really isn't progressing anywhere, the "melodies" in progressive don't usually progress anywhere etc.
