Come on DP ... <_< Since the last time you were here you must have gotten more music than that :rolleyes:

    Yesterday I got:

    Artifakt - Artifakts

Perfect Stranger - Learning = Change

  2. Someone told me that producers looking to make hit singles not long ago would sometimes increase the volume on the final chorus, if the chorus didn't give that closing pounding effect to increase chances of a radio hit (btw, those days are over as todays radio systems automatically maintains a steady volume). Well, that'll ruin Abracadabra's chances of becoming a radio evergreen, cause this needs to be played LOUD.

Trust me, when volume is not a problem ABCDB is a mean little fucker. Title track Abracadabra hits hard in the face almost Wizzy Noise style. Intense, monotonous bassline, FX to add psychedelic elements, and ... not much else. Great! Furthus Ultimux hauls in another hit in this direction. This opens with a dark one-note bass and gradually turns into some sort of X-Dream clone. Strong dancefloor worker with a smashing end. Naec, Sillicon Sally and closing Acid Test could be described likewise. You're in for long voyages, but the ultimate victory makes it worth your while.

A number of tracks give me a harder time. Opening Norm@all, Heile Welt or Collatoral Damage tend to bore me and the insane buzzing moscito sound in Crazzy annoys the hell out of me. The Jar Jar Binks sounding sample ain't no treat either.

Summarizing, I have no hesitation in recommending ABCDB to tech trance heads. At the price I've seen new copies of this go for, a good handfull of solid tracks will ensure dj value for money. For the rest of us, well, if volume/headphones is not a problem ...

  3. sorry for being harsh :)

    Perhaps I was a little sensitive <_<

Are you a follower of Entheogenic? If yes, certainly, you must appreciate that they're way more deep and psychedelic this time around. Golden Cap was a journey in, well, to be frank I've only head it a couple of times. It was boring.

Urubus has much more to offer. And as I saw mentioned somewhere it even has potential to cross over. Not that that in itself is any quality. It's not but I think it has both edge and mainstream appeal. Comparing it to Buddha Bar and Cafe del Mar is uncalled for, though.

    This is way more edgy.

Well, enough rambling. I'm just very happy the boys from Entheogenic were able to make a come back. Gives hopes to the old bones

  4. In contrast to his very agreeable prices (!) the trick with Jikkenteki is that he doesn’t give anything away in his music. These tracks builds to a climatic end. One look at the setlist makes this painstakingly clear. 73 minutes of music spread over five tracks with opening track Simplicity clocking in at 31 minutes+. And that’s a new school psychedelic goa track, mind you. Quite a challenge to undertake.

So let’s jump right to that. Like I said Jikkenteki doesn’t give away his tracks. Simplicity is long and one I have to work with, but once onboard Jikkenteki’s 18-wheeler truck you are guaranteed a safe journey. At the same time, with 31 minutes to fuck around with there are ample of opportunities to offer some in your face psychedelia in amongst more trippy sections. And when Simplicity starts rewarding your patience from 26:07 tell me this part doesn’t deliver! Holy fuck, it’s a long ride but at the end of every rainbow shines a little goa trold, no?

Jikkenteki is even better, though, when he wraps things up in 10 minutes long journeys. Track two through five sticks closer to the goa recipe with a ton of melodies and an affection for psychedelic elements that suits these ears well. Clearly this is dance music but put on a good set of headphones and Jikkenteki will offer something for your mind too.

    Another good album from Rennis.

  5. Oh! these fanboys are everywhere...thought they were lurking only on isratrance...

Not quite sure why you would label me fanboy. Didn't I just mention that Golden Cap was a let down  .

Now they're back with a great album a quantum leap from Golden Cap and I think it deserves mention.

You don't like it. Fine. I do.

But I take issues with labelling my opinion fanboy. That's just stupid.

  6. Over hyped average album..

    Shut up, Beavis <_<

Last installment from Entheogenic. Have these boys taken us up and down or what? While I haven’t heard their first two albums (bowing head in shame) I’ve only seen these praised high and low. Personally, I like Dialogue Of The Speakers but with Golden Cap it seemed there was widespread agreement Entheogenic had lost their touch. Even I had issues with Golden Cap.

The more surprisingly Flight Of The Urubus lands. This doesn’t t sound as if it’s been made by a couple of long lost dinosaurs. This has an edge Golden Cap couldn’t dream of and a sinister vibe the ear pleasing Dialogue never attained for.

Sure, I have my issues with Urubus. No matter how many praisals I hear the vocals in Entheogen Spice are a complete turn off in my book. Vocals is such a tricky matter and it just doesn’t do it for me hearing someone pleading “Entheogeeeeniic ooohhhh …”. I’m sorry. I won’t have it. Then again, on closing Itaipava it actually works.

Anyway, Entheogen Spice’s vocals aside everything else delivers. Even the jazzy Rio Barro makes a home-run. I could easily image this in a couch on the chill-out scene at this summers festivals. Fly me to the moon, baby! Vervain is the master piece, though. This is music for before, during, and after sex. Oh, the climax at … oh well, from the beginng. Ever heard of dry orgasms :wank: ?

Alas, Urubus is already much hyped on various websites and these ears can’t oppose the hype. Entheogenic is back with a capital back! Essential chill-out material.

  7. Ah, the comfortability of progressive electronica. Coining the exact difference between psychedelic progressive trance, progressive house/trance and electro house may be quite the task – and a somewhat redundant one! – but label this any way you like. There are a couple of party stompers here.

So, has the psychedelic elements all but vanished on Left Behind? Well, yes. Clearly this appeals more to your average clubgoer with its’ slick electro house approach but myself a faithfull psychedelic follower I can still enjoy large chunks of Left Behind’s steady drive. Sure, the psychedelic crescendos of early Iboga Records aren’t lined up but, damnit, who needs them with this lush bass lines?!

And stil the many details throughout some of the tracks may create the extra layer that can supply a ticket to outer space for an openminded hippie. Let me reiterate. This isn’t in-your-face layer craziness by far but work with the beat, the held back aggressiveness and the many sections in each track and your mind should have a little something to wander away to too.

The biggest problem on Left Behind are the vocal sections. Even the great opener Left Behind offers a stupid vocal section but skip these and Left Behind is if nothing else a very pleasant journey aimed equally well for the club scene and your living room softly mixed as it comes.

Highly recommended for electro house followers and still a safe purchase for the openminded progressive psytrance follower.

  8. I got my Xponent some time ago but only now beginning to get the hang of it.

And I'm loving it as the commercial goes!! :clapping:

One of the things which really amazes me is the simplicity of the torq program. I'm not sure how small it is but it's measured in megabytes. 2 or 3. It's ridicilous!! I was sure there was something I hadn't installed or noticed but it really is this small.

Still, that doesn't mean you don't have options. There's tons of option. I'm only beginning to find out how many now and I haven't even gotten to the FX board.

And fast as hell. Yeah, I am happy with this purchase.

Anyone else had experiences with this and other dj midi-controllers? How does it fare compared to others?

  9. As noted elsewhere much to some hippies’ regret it seems progressive trance artists are venturing ever more often into electro house territories these days. Call me too broadminded but I take no issues with that. Hell, if progressive trance used to be all about dancing with a psychedelic edge Lo-Fi Adventures lacks nothing in danceability or tripability!

Right from opening track In All Ears I get the idea this is a kind of music that would be just perfect at an all-inclusive, no-boundaries, kick-ass, underground party in Monaco! This is extremely pleasant to listen to, yes, but never crossing over to the cheesy side. The cutting edge production obviously lends a big hand in creating this impression but if I am taken aback for a second by the sheer sound picture the melodies will pull me right back on track. Think Ticon 2am "Spitfire" ballsines Lo-Fi Adventures, for me, sets the pace for contemporary progressive psychedelic trance.

If this album does not end among my favorites for the year 2008 is setting out to be a great year!

Favourites? Look, they’re all good but twist my arm, kick me in the nuts and spit me in the eyes and I’ll choose In All Ears, East Block and Monday Star as my companionship. They’ll set you dancing, they’ll set you bouncing and, motherfucking unquestionably so, they’ll have you tripping! An easy 5/5.

It didn't help waiting ... I am still in luv

  10. Nice review :)

I must say that after repeated listenings over the weekend I have no doubt this album will be among my favorites this year.

I simply just love it and find it WAAAAAY better than Ticon's attempt on the same genre and harder than D-nox & Beckers.

And I wouldn't compare it with Son Kite's Colours.

But will fill in a full review when I'm less over eagerly breathtakingly excited ...

  11. ^Enjoy those headphones! I bet your looking forward to you hit the 150hr of warming them! :D

and yes you were so right about the Deep Green! bloody awesome!

Those AKGs have hardly left my head since I purchased them :D It's a 150 hours drive. I'll be there in 100

Btw I can't thank you enough for showing me the ropes in iTunes :posford: I've never had my library more easily accessible. It's just perfect. I already used the genres description option and with this, search and visual function I can go through my collection in a split second.

That's what I've been looking for! Thanks mate :)

And one more btw. I need you to put in a couple of recommendations. Of course I'm getting the Tranchilizer you played and some other Peak Records stuff but if there's any other stuff you just HAVE to recommend ... please do. That tranchilizer is OUTTA this world!!

But I'm still not too big on them flutes ... :pissed: :pissed:

  12. What's that on top right ? The Crop Circles CD single  ?

Why yes, I believe it is :D

And it sounds freaking amazing ....

  13. Nice review :)

I'll put in my two cents when I have heard some more of it. As for now I totally agree from what I've heard of the cd. Cellar deep chill-out with vibe and energy. Too energetic to chill to and at the same time too damn freaking pleasent to get up to

Off topic: Thx for last night! That was fun.

Edit: What I meant to say is that I love what I've heard of this album so far
