  1. Hello.... Just downloaded the track, and I have to say I like it! You are right it has a chaotic sound, would be nice to hear it after you're done mastering. Nice work though It has a good solid bassline and a classic sort of a sound. The dark forces continue to explore the terrains.
  2. Hello, I am from New Zealand and this new years went to a really fuckin sweet psy party "FullCircle"...great stuff. Anyway, one of my favourite local NZ artists were playing there, they are a live act, going by the name 'COSM'. they do some cool psy, breaks, psybreaks and dub. and they have a few goot tracks (including live sets) for download at their site www.cosm.co.nz just click media>music. happy listening!!
  3. OK guys I've tried fiddling around with some settings, and it still seems to be a problem!! I looked around through google and stuff, found a lot of websites on things that sounded similar to mine, but all of them seemed to be old websites for windows 98 etc. Like I said, I've got 1024 RAM, so I don't see why my winamp goes glitchy anytime I open up another (even small) program. Also its still been going glitchy in FLstudio, even while not actively running any other applications. It would be really good if someone could give me some specific info on this cache stuff, I found a lot on internet cache but not much info about hard disk cache. Where do I go to adjust it? What settings should I have it at? Having this stuttering / distortion / delay / lag time going on in a new computer is getting frustrating!
  4. Cool, thanks a lot. I downloaded + installed Asio4ALL, and checked out that MusicXP site, going to have a fiddle around and maybe some google searching later this evening...its too much of a beautiful day for me to be doing it now, I'm going to go outside and chill in the sunshine (gotta love the southern hemisphere )
  5. Thanks djnemo, you're such a helpful guy!!! Also, I know I am a complete noob, and feel free to whack me with the 'stoopid stick', but where / how do I fiddle around with my cache settings, I mean what do I need to set it at for good winAMP performance, and good music program running? (Another thing I've found is that if I'm running FLstudio and another program like soulseek in the background, I go to save a file in FLstudio and all of a sudden it gets very distorted and glitchy...so annoying).
  6. Hello peoples, I've heard talk of 'set your latency as low as possible' for when you're making live adjustments / automations in sequencer programs. I was wondering, how do I do this? I take it it has something to do with the soundcard. Also I'm wondering how to generally optimise the sound performance of my computer? I'm only using a Creative Audigy2 soundcard, which is average, so I want to push it to get the best sounds possible for what I have. One thing I've noticed is that when I am playing some tunes in winamp, and I go to do some other stuff like open up some browser windows, this can interrupt a track and make a little glitch / pause kind of sound. But I know this shouldn't happen, I have 3 gigs of processor and 1024 RAM, my girlfriend has a slower machine and her winamp never glitches. How can I give things like this and my music making programs the highest priority of processor speeds etc? Any tips on this sort of thing would be much appreciated
  7. Yes that sounds like what I mean, provided that the note was being held for a long time (like longer than a single beat). I'm using software synths rather than hardware synths. I was thinking maybe there would be a filter or effect that I could put a single tone through that would change its pitch. Like in FLstudio how theres the menu that you can change the pitch, volume etc of individual beats in the loop and you can draw a line of what pitch you want, I want to be able to do this within a single sustained sound rather than a series of shorter ones. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to do this?
  8. Hey peoples, Lately I've been having a bit of fun getting some of my sound ideas made, still just using FLstudio4 though. Each day I seem to learn how to do something new to help make the sounds I want. One thing I still don't know, that I want to know about, is how do I create a sustained tone, with a varying pitch? In other words, I don't want there to be defined changes between each beat, but more a smooth change. I'm thinking this will have something to do with a synth / VST. I can already make them with wave forms, but I want to be able to control the pitch that it is at at any given point. Hopefully this makes sense. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks
  9. Thanks for all the advice guys. I just got the machine a couple of weeks ago. Here's what I ended up getting: Leadtek Nforce2 Micro-ATX motherboard Athalon XP Barton 3000+ CPU 160Gb 7200.2 IDE Seagate Barracuda HD 1024Mb Adata PC3200 DDR 400 memory Creative Audigy2 Soundcard (24bit advanced HD, 192kHz, 106dB SNR) CD-RW / DVD combo drive Windows XP OS I know that the soundard isn't the best, but I got a good deal on it, and looking at a few reviews on the internet of that versus the M-Audio, it really doesn't seem too bad. I'll upgrade when I have some spare cash. Does anyone have any tips or advice on optimising this machine? I'm about to get Reason and Cubase and a bunch of samples, I'm still just using FLstudio 4 until then. Can anyone reccomend me some good plugins (VSTs) to get?
  10. Thanks! I think I get it now. So a VST is the same as a plugin? Are there plugins that aren't VST's? From what I understand now the things in the FX section of fruity loops (reverb, delay, chorus, etc) are VST's, is that correct? I was playing around before making some stuff on FLstudio...just when I made something that I liked the sound of, I went to save it and it said that I was using demo versions of this one plugin (Fruity DX10) and that when I saved that part wouldn't be in it...damnit thats the part that I like!!! So now what I want to know is, where can I score some free VST plugins off the internet? I've heard that you can buy them but that there are ones just as good out there for free. Anyone point me in the right direction?
  11. Hi guys I'm still very much a newcomer to the world of making electronic music, so please bear with me here. I've been messing around on fruity loops for the past year or so, but I never got to make anything too interesting because my computer was VERY old and slow, with a really bad soundcard, so anytime I went to use a FX or anything it would go distorted. Anyway, a couple of days ago I got my new computer so am ready to start getting seriously into it, I've got the motivation and the inspiration and the ideas sorted out, what I need to do now is learn to use the software to its full capacities. Soon I will be getting Reason and Logic and Cubase and maybe a few others, as well as FLstudio. So since my computer was so crappy I didn't have a chance to pay much attention to anything other than the basic elements of the program. I've noticed that people here and also parts of the program often refer to VST and VSTi. What I want to know is; What are these? How do I get them? And anything else I need to get an understanding of VST and how to use it. Any links would also be appreciated. Sorry for asking what is probably such a basic question, but I just feel confused about things like this at times having not knowing many electronic music makers in 'real life'. Thought you peoples could help me out maybe
  12. Hey ZX81 Well I see you've been kind of swamped with requests here so I'll hold off for now. Just wondering where in NZ you are? I'm in Dunedin and I'm just getting started out in electronic music production. Basically I've spent a year off and on screwing round on FL Studio 4 because my computer is too crap to handle anything else, but I'm getting a new computer in a few days and then I'm planning on getting seriously into it. Scored a 210w Technics amp and 2x 40w Technics speakers the other day for $40 off my friend whose obsessed with uprading his sound gear. So yeah anyway just sayin hi to a fellow kiwi...maybe see you round at a psy party or something!
  13. Hello peoples I'm about to purchase a new PC, which I am trying to gear specifically for music making. In other words heaps of RAM, hard drive, processor speed, and a good sound card. I was wanting your advice on what would be a good quality sound card for me to purchase, in a medium price range. I'm interested in doing some quadrophonic stuff so preferably one that can handle that too. Also, as far as music making goes, is a Pentium or AMD processor better, or does it not make any difference?
