From what I know, the record holder in sales is Juno Reactor (well actually they've always been kinda half psy producer, half movie soundtrack producer so I guess this explains that...) SMI²LE
-
hehehe I already asked this question here and as you can see, the "definition" of progressive ranges from eurotrance to oldschool goa!! SMI²LE
-
man you really should read older topics before posting this kind of stuff... SMI²LE

new 2004 section+mixes upgrade the best thing you can do!@!!

well I can't speak for mars but from what I'm feeling he's strongly against making any minor update of this site and spends all his efforts on V 2.00... he seems like an "all or nothing" guy SMI²LE -
Who is in charge of this f****** website ?????????????

I think you'll get a better response if you posted this as a new topic, galaxy SMI²LE -
"Astral's "Ten", classic tracks remixed by "classic new skool Israeli"" That sounds HORRIBLE!! BTW did anyone check out the new AP Vs Dynamic - Mohadive on Raveolution Reloaded? Maaaan it sure is time for Avi and Lior to retire.... it almost sounds like a parody of "old" AP... SMI²LE

a little female vocals is good... Etnoscope - Sunrise has female vocals and it's divine!!! Everytime I hear that pure angelic voice it gives me goosebumps SMI²LE

what's that last adress? Something by amateur artists? cause I never heard of a single one SMI²LE

or so he says... he told me that about a month ago... SMI²LE -
who cares... the tracknames are just a bunch of random words attached anyway... it's the tracks that matter SMI²LE

Who is in charge of this f****** website ?????????????
Lemmiwinks replied to a topic in General Psytrance
I ALREADY PROPOSED THAT!!! I sent an e-mail to mars suggesting to "convert" the contest section of the forum which has become useless anyway to a "reviews" section where people can just post review as new topics but mars reassured me that the 2nd version is very close so there'd be no need to complicate things by changing old stuff. oki... tell us when some samples of your new stuff are out, can't judge before that SMI²LE

well I don't think much of any nation likes psytrance... In Belgium there must be something like 100 - 200 regular party goes... out of more than 10 million inhabitants... you do the math... It's just that the scene is usually concentrated around one city or area. So if you're lucky enough to live in that particular area then you'll get the feeling that there's a nice little scene going on but if you don't, then you'll wonder if you're the only one on the planet who listens to this stuff... The lucky part in a small country like Belgium is that to go from the "non-psy" area to the "psy" area you only have to drive for half an hour Guess it's a lot more difficult in the US or Canada because of the great distances... ?? I'm surprised you're that much into progressive, I didn't really see you as a "progressive kind of guy" Well thanks for your input SMI²LE
-
I don't like their releases at ALL!!! All tracks are avreage, NOTHING stands out of the crowd... SMI²LE
-
now where's EP when you need him? SMI²LE
-
well then tell me EP, what the top 04 releases in your opinion then? Maybe I just don't get the right recomendations... would be nice to hear the advice of someone who's been in the scene from day 1... SMI²LE
-
well I don't have much insider knowledge either but from what I understand a producer is the one that ensures that the track sounds good (ie. he playes with the different layers and sounds to see which one is heard "on top" and which is heard in the background, or effects like pan right/ pan left speaker, intensity of the bassline, etc.). You can create a perfect track but if it all sounds muffled and has a whimpy bassline, then it will sound lie shit and noone will like it. So the producer actually DOES play a crucial part in the creation process. SMI²LE

"But what about EU Album?Do you Recommend it or not?" well yes and no... I must say that I have become a bit bored of Boris' style (after all he has already released like what 7,8 albums already?). In spite of what everyone says, I don't find the new EU or Jupiter 8000 to be a lot more innovative from what Boris "usually" makes. So compared to "usual" EU style, this is just another album along the way BUT compared to all the crap that's being released lately it's pretty damn good!!! Out of all of Boris' releases this year my personal fave track is Jupiter 8000 - Bit Fire. If you liked Meteor, you'll LOVE this one SMI²LE
-
I know I was just kidding As for Jupiter 8000: it's the same guy as EU (Boris Blenn)!!! The new album isn't techno oriented at all, it sounds much much more like EU style. SMI²LE

well I've probably already said this too many times but... back in the days (1996 to be exact you could just go to a music store and blindly pick a compilation with the word "goa" or "psy" on it and you'd go home listen to it and you'd be AMAZED by the quality of EACH track!! If there was a compilation with 2 average tracks on it, you would've seen it as a bad compilation (mind you in those days most comps were 2CD!!). AND the comp would stay with you for months, even years cause the music on it would be so damn good. Today there are like 15 new comps per month, out of which about 10 contain absolutely NOTHING worthwhile, you could just as well throw them straight to the bin, and about 5 contain 1 or 2 "acceptable" tracks, but with which you get bored of in a few weeks anyway. Out of ALL the 2004 releases I've listened to so far there have been only 2 tracks that have stayed with me for a while: Jupiter 8000 - Bit Fire (the track, actually I don't find the album that good) and Etnoscope - Sunrise (actually this is 2003 but I only got it near the very end of 03 so I count it as 04). 2 tracks I truly liked in almost half a year. And then you wonder why goa sales slump? Actually I'd LIKE to spend some money on something worthwhile... but I haven't heard anything worthwhile for years now... SMI²LE
