Well I first heard psytrance in 2003, so I missed Goa when it happened. When I listen to old-school stuff now though it sounds good but kind of primitive, and doesn't stand up so well to repeat listens as a lot of modern stuff in my opinion. Though if anyone could recommend an old-school album that would change my mind about this I would be very grateful.
Although some people will say "that's not old-school" and stuff.
It's a classic.

Evil Records??

The topic title should be "do you still listen to oldschool psychedelic trance?

It's out?

10 days in Samothraki,twice.
2001 was the best. There were people selling psychedelic onions from Africa and stuff,no joking.2002 was great too but a bit overcrowded.

Nice, thanks. Not sure if it will work, but you could try this link.
In my (admittedly brief) websearch I found a few other places that seemed to be selling tickets for the same venue on the same night, but the tickets were cheaper and didn't mention Autechre, so maybe you need a different ticket to get to where Autechre will be playing.
Hope that helps

Btw Rotwang, since you live in the UK,i was thinking of this event looking for bus tickets and i realised that there's no info about the tickets, being sold out is impossible, isnt it?

I still believe he should start with Amber and tracks like Basscadet (Basscadubmx),Drane,Draun Quarter (well if he also likes Laughing Quarter then things are easier),VLetrmx21 and stuff like that ...Well naturally it won't be to everybody's taste... I suggest you use your favourite P2P software to look for a couple of tracks, "Cipater" and "LCC", and see what you think of them. I reckon they sit nicely on the boundary of being accessible enough for newcomers, and interesting enough to be considered vintage AE. (I'm sure plenty of people will disagree though, funny thing about Autechre is that there is really nothing approaching consensus as to what is their best work)
Edit:cool,i've just remembered of some tracks i haven't heard for ages

Like Amber.
Or Confield,Draft 7.30 and Untilted for some serious braindance.

Quality music available for free ...
Thats some beautiful chill sounds, well done mr Xerxes.

Im really impressed.
Not just because of the quality of the whole package but also because of his two IDM tracks New Wave and This Is The Beginning, with the second one being a flawless track.
If he ever decides to release an IDM album in this style i'll be the first to buy it.
