I recently (re-)discovered how terrific internet radio is. It kind of died for me back when Philosomatika went all-in full-on mad power hi-NRG. But now the phenomenon is back in my speakers. I thoroughly enjoy John '00' Fleming's "Global Trance Grooves" on Digitally imported: http://www.di.fm/calendar/event/32449
For this forum, he is probably a bit too "trance-hero", but this man seriously knows music - and how to cook up a mad decent set for a crisp journey. These days he actually plays quite a bit of psy, and the guest mixes are a nice invitation to some (for me) uncharted trance-related territories.

Hi everybody - quick word of shameless selfpromotion:
I have a new single out on JOOF Recordings today. It already made a dent in the trance community, and I hope (and believe) it holds enough psychedelic credence to bring pleasure here!
As a side note - if you are as unfamiliar with JOOF as I was half a year ago, give it an in-depth inspection. Also John 00's radio show (20 PM at Digitally imported trance, every second tuesday of the month - tonight that is!!) is extremely worthwhile!

I hate to revive long forgotten bad vibes, but I am wondering if there is anything new in this topic... I have a bit to add:
I am being released on Joof Recordings tomorrow (yay!) under the name "Amygdala" - as I have used since 2001. A while back, I noticed that there was another "Amygdala" out there. The only info (besides affiliation with psytropic, plusquam, ...) I have been able to find is "German female psytrance producer". As a weird coincidence (I think...), I have a track released on Crotus a million years ago, the rights of which must currently reside with Thomas, as plusquam bought Crotus. Ugh.
So, maybe weird coincedences, maybe someone was deliberately abusing my bandname...?

Thank you very, *very* much for taking your time to write this! I get a deep satisfaction from writing music, but it sprinkles that satisfaction with great pleasure when I hear that people enjoy the product
I have five or six tracks sitting ready, for when the schedule of JOOF recordings allows for release - two of them will hopefully be in october. They are definitely not down-tempo, but I don't think I can keep away from that style for long...

But honestly, Wintermute is one of the best uptempo tracks I've heard in recent YEARS
and Modus Operandi is quite a damn good album (don't care for the dubstep though...).Thanks again! Wintermute is actually one of the oldest tracks on Modus Operandi - it was written back in 2008 I think. A bit of shameless self-promotion here: I have a new track on the verge of release, and it is sitting in hot company in a John 00 Fleming mix:

Glad to hear it...! It's always a mad pleasure to know that the stuff I fiddle around with resonates out there.
Sad to say it, but I simply haven't got the time to put together a live set, and take it on the road. Between family, full-time job, and producing new tracks for a major outlet (that you'll will know about soon enough

It's a famous bass used in the 90's, it's called "Latest Bass". You can sample it in your favorite DAW, play D#1 and D#2 alternatively and you'll have the same result as
. Same sound as here
Buy yourself a Yamaha TX81Z, it's very inexpensive
To make searches easier, the preset is called "Lately Bass"

Agreed... And - I gotta say, there's something about your nick that sits wellI'l say shpongle's made some pretty god damn good basslines, but then, they are quite slow and meditative.

Well yes... And no apparently. I was so careful to set up everything nicely. The good soundcard, the good headphones, the good chair carried into the room with the best vibes... And then - I forgot that the soundcard inputs were both panned center. Do'h. I was so focused that now was the time, and everything was great - well except one of the most important aspects, of course. Ah well - I have another great experience in store with the same album thenIn mono!? I would've thought this album would have made that readily apparent to you.

I finally had a couple of hours to my complete self, so I gave the CD a spin after having it lying around for more than a week. I wanted to give it full attention. I liked a *lot*. It has layers, it is food for thought and awe, it is beautiful, groovy and even entertaining!
So my first listen leaves me very impressed. Even more so, because when I "came to" I realized I accidently played the whole thing in MONO! How could I have not noticed...?!? Yeah, apparently it is that good.

Yep, a MIDI->CV/gate is what you need. I can warmly recommend the Kenton ones. They may seem a bit pricey, but it is totally worth it! I have one to control my SH-1 (almost completely like an SH-101), and it works wonders.

I have been messing about with some dubstep in the softer end of the genre. I know some of you out there are getting into the dark stuff like Excision and such - me too, but I am just not that evil and nasty myself. Or not skilled enough I guess
Please feel free to visit Amygdala.dk to find some softer reflective dubstep. Go to the bottom of the page - but have a look at the rest too (and excuse the minimalistic design... It's fungis, innit?).

I agree to a pretty wide extent with the above. Historically, though, instrumental music has been the most successful I think. There is a huuuge heritage of classical music that cannot be disregarded (some singing, yes, but only in a smaller subset of genres). So, were people more openminded in the old days, or was it just that what was popular and "familiar" back then happened to have no singing? I don't know, but if the latter is the case, what changed?

Allrighty, I finally got some trance up there. For the love of Pete, will someone tell me why the quality is so bad, once the music hits myspace...? Are they doing some conversion, that I can prepare my tracks for, so they won't be so mangled?

Yeah, DI is the biggest plethora of styles and genres. I like their focus on actual shows, instead of "just" pushing quality music...
