  1. Reason has a lot of power, mainly because you can connect things together modularly. I personally get great sound from a Redrum kit and Subtractor bass (ducked with the kick) and eq'ed then master limited. This main out goes into Live so I have drums and bass as a separate package from Live. There's plenty of sounds to get out of Reason, I don't know why people say its only good for learning. There's so much I haven't touched yet, but you have to be prepared to patch modules together and 'think different' to get original sounds. Operator doesn't light my fire, I would say that the same amount of money spent on Albino would be more useful. Cheers, B
  2. I think its great! Lots of energy. Did you make this in Acid?
  3. Its not that easy to make a bass sound. Yet Psy sounds so easy You can't use a bass if there's a click at the start of every note, or I had a case where some notes clicked randomly. If you really can't get rid of the click without slowing the attack, you could make a sample out of it - at least that way you can edit the click out and have a clean sample. Or you need to find something else to make basses. A synth is only good if it makes the sounds you want. If its taking a big effort and still not getting near, you're using the wrong tool. And relying on EQ sounds like its just not right. You can't finish the bass until its playing with the kick. Maybe you need to change the kick. My advise isn't technical: Do something else for while, then listen to some Psy you respect and then go back with fresh ears to try again. B
  4. AAAaaaarrrrggghhhh!! I give up!! *pulls hair out* Reason is the only software where you get slapped for wanting anything changed That's really a helluva recommendation for it. Its that good folks... Yes, I'll do what I swore I would never do. I gotta get the upgrade to Reason 3. The combo's are too good to miss. cya b
  5. The combos look good - you can make a big patch and move it from project to project. Excellent improvement. But Props could have thrown in more synths, I seriosuly don't understand why:- a. There aren't more sound generating modules bullt-in to Reason b. Reasons fans jump on you if you suggest that Cheers, B
  6. Subtractor is a really basic softsynth, I dropped Reason a little while back because your only analog synths are Subtractor and Maelstrom. I know lots of people coax brilliant sounds out of it, but its only software, there should be at least 10 unique sounding analogy synths in Reason. And you have to manually patch effects in. You don't get to select a patch, hit a key and go *wow* Hardware rules in that you get hundreds of sounds all instantly available. If that's good for you (it sure is for me), then get hardware once you have researched and know what you're getting. But it doesn't sound better. Your artistry in making things work together makes the music sound better. You can do everything in software and midi controllers, it appears that most people do these days. Neither option is clearly better. What's clearly better for me is that hardware's workflow makes more sense to me. And I make more music and with less effort than on a computer. Live
