That's cool, Colin. It's a very narrative piece with a lot going on. It certainly deserves genuine orchestral instruments. Wouldn't you love to be able to hear a real orchestra play your work? Man, that's one of my biggest dreams. Having only GM instruments was the main reason why I placed orchestral composition on the backburner for so long. It's frustrating to have these grand epic ideas that have limited translation.
What game was this for, some kind of fantasy adventure or RPG?
Thanks for sharing, Colin

I have one I wrote for a computer game back in 1993; GM only and designed to loop after about 3 minutes. I'll try and upload it at some point but it might take me a while...
Sweet, man. I'd love to hear it
-
Heh, I thought I made a thread about orchestral music a while back. I just finished this last night and I'm soooo happy with this I just had to share it with you all. Even though it's short, this sucker took me almost a year to complete.
It's called Doomsday. If you have the time to listen, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Maybe we should start a "Senior's club" or something, starting with our own member group.
I'll be 32 by the end of this year
At what age does would the Senior's Club accept members?

Ah! You finished it :clapping:
This has a different sound to your other tracks, and I love it just as much as your last few. It starts off so dark and playful with such great chord structure. You put in a lot of great sounds from the wah-ki-cha guitar at 2:10 to the quirkiness of the bouncing synth. If Danny Elfman were to create electronic tracks I think they'd sound somewhat like this. When the vibe lightens at 3:06 I swear this sounds like something I'd write. It's so bittersweet here and gives me an awesomely warm feeling. Concerning the mix quality, I have zero qualms. I believe you have a signature sound that I can identify quite easily
Damn, I'm really loving your music, Per. Most excellent work :) :posford:
Out of curiosity, why did you name it Chandelier?
edit: on the 5th listen :clapping:

This is great stuff man. I'd love to have something like that on my wall. Give me a message if you feel like shipping an item or two to Norway for a bit of casholinas.
Thanks, phobium Yeah, man, that sounds great. If you're interested in a specific one, let me know and we can discuss logistics.
and I bet they would buy it as such as well!!!!!
Amazing stuff billy bob! I really love everything you do! If I will ever call anyone a true artist on this forum, it will be you
Damn, thanks Nemo! What a nice thing to say
-
My hatred towards you grows stronger with each artistic ability you present us.
Beautiful stuff, Billy. Thanks for sharing the images with us.
The bottom item looks sort of Klingon weapon like.
Thanks, faze. Now if I can only make some $$ with these.
Heh, you're right about the Kilngon weapon resemblance. Interesting. *jumps in car and heads to nearest Star Trek Convention*

Since I got the new scroll saw for Xmas, I've started working with wood cuts. It's a very precise and focused process, but very enjoyable. Here's my first with the new tool -
This is to give you an idea of the size
You may have seen these two older designs:
DP has dibs on this when it's completed

Hey Lu Bu,
I like what you have going here. I think this has the potential to sound big. I agree with mars on creating more of a story as this will add to the depth of your track. Good work, man
-
I really , really love this kind of music. It makes me feel as if I'm floating through stratospheric layers of lushness, light and color. Xerxes, your music is great!
-
Though I usually like drony beatless ambient, I found that a little boring... Dunno why it's so popular.
Understandable, yet I find their music overwhelmingly nostalgic and bittersweet. It reminds me of a portion of my childhood
-
For really dreamy, hazy ambient you should check out Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement of the Decline. It's great "working on projects" music.
-
Its not only amazing music, but its also creative, smart and unique. I simply love Symph work, and the fact that this track is amazing it didnt surprised me at all
One of the greatest eletronic tracks I heard this year, trully
Keep up Symph, and congrats
Thank you so much, Stalker. That's an amazing thing to say. I truly am glad that you enjoyed it

Wow, man that is some serious artistic ability. Maybe you could not only sell them to bars, but also to alcohol companies that are looking to market their product as something different. It doesn't have to be alcohol either. I am sure bottled water companies might be all over this. Perhaps get to know someone who could show your art at an exhibit, using different shaped bottles, colors, etc...
Beautiful.

Thanks Trance Y'know I've found some boutiques around here and some along the East Coast that seem very promising. I've got a great connection who is willing to help out, too.
Btw, I noticed that you're from Raleigh. I'm from Greensboro.

...and I thought you just drank a lot of wine
They look great and should make a good christmas gift.
Great! So you got 'em and they're in good condition?
-
Bravo man really good. I listen to it 3 times in the road.
Thanks, Nurbs On the road music is my fave.
Thats a lovely composition you made dude. in between i thought i was actually listening to some track by zero cult. love the part between 2:50 and 3:30 ! get it released
what a great compliment, thanks exotic!
hi!
dub intro, groovy and harmonic... beautiful melodies, good production...
amazing story! great key melodies, great passages...
GREAT MUSIC! I'm very impressed
good work and very good luck, you deserve it!!!
Boom
Hey serguei, thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement.
Pro work pal.
The solo is a m a z i n g.It has Pink Floyd feeling.Why you didn't continue with it?
I mean make the solo bigger and add 3 more min to the track.
Like it.
Wow! Thank you sparkunian! With the synth solo, I felt i shouldn't get too carried away otherwise I'd step into jam-band territory.
This is a great track. One thing I love about Billy's work is how it seems his sounds are floating in a huge space where each sound is miles away from the next, but they all still function together somehow. I don't know how he does it. And I love the very last melody that fades the track out.
Okay, so someone's going to have to take some initiative here...Someone should direct one of these labels like AlephZero to Billy's work.
Man Per, you really know how to make me feel good about my work
That sound at the end was a monophonic string in 3/4 time. i love the contrast that time signatures has over 4/4.
im going to tell you like it is, because its what i do
when i think of symphoids music i think of non conformity. non mold like sounds and structure.
honestly dude this is not you. this day is mine.. thats the direction you need to be in. accessible music is great.. it will do what has to be done. but many people do accessible.. go in the this day is mine direction and do it so good you master it.. you will not only be accessible but in a league of your own.
Hey Lu Bu, I very much appreciate your comments and that you hold my music making potential in such high regard. This Day is Mine was an exciting track to make, but I truly can't stick with one style or one vibe. I have to be true to myself and the way I express myself musically. It may fluctuate in accessibilty, but the music has to be made.
This is unvelievably good! Yes it could be longer.. the solo is amazing
Thanks so much, Towelie! I'm really glad you liked it.
Great as usual. :clapping:
There's something about the bass. It's nice, but not perfect enough. It should be more like those phat basses on Hallucinogen In Dub
Thanks a lot, Bahamut! I'm in agreement with you about the bass. I've been listening on different systems and it's just not meaty enough. I'm gonna tweak this a little more. Thanks for pointing that out
Superb, as always. Nothing more to add really.
He must be too shy or too modest to do it himself.
But I agree that music of such quality should get released.
Hey McKoy, thanks man Well getting my release out there is not so much because of shyness, but rather fear. I'm really taking the plunge this time though.
I love it, i'm still running through the first play but i can already tell it's gonna get some milage on these speakers... Thanks a bunch for sharing, it's got soundsignature all over, but i notice things improving and maturing even more. You are not on your way, you are there
congrats
Thanks so much, RAH. You're too kind
-
Really nice, Droso Are the latest pics from Thailand? The woodcuts almost look Balinese.
-
Thanks so much for the great review, Snap. What I'd like to do is add this to my first release once I get the last track completed. The one I'm currently working on is a bastard of a track It's taken me months to get a solid grip on.
-
Now THAT's a beautiful pic! I would love to climb that tree
-
Wow, this one made my brain melt. I put a lot of work into creating this track and hopefully you'll find that is was worth it. It's a mix of tragedy and adventure (thanks, Per ). Will you have a listen?
-
Totally cool, Billy. :clapping: :drama:
Thaks, Per
OMG Symph! Awesome!
This thread has been running since ages and I haven't seen it till now. Damn.. I should move out of Off-Topic.
Hey thanks so much, Santo. Really nice to hear that
A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
Did they pay you for this?
Keep experimenting! :clapping:
Thanks a lot Go-Goa They paid me, but not in cash. They give me free bottles whenever I drop by. Last time I picked up some they gave me a huge trashbag's worth
-
These compliments are well-deserved As I said before, this is a wonderful track and your best mixing job to date.
-
So here's an update on some of my new designs. I've been experimenting with different bottles - beer, liquor, etc. A few of these are incomplete.
This was for a bar in town called Fishbones
I've got wood

Thanks, alleycat. The Klingon weapons (heheh) are made of pine and the mandala is oak.
