  1. Hello to all in BC, I need some help. After nearly two years of hanging up my dancing shoes, I find myself with an opportunity to lace them up tight next week. My wife and son are heading out of town, which leaves me with a burning desire for an energetic stomp. I'm aware of the festival taking place in the Kootenays, but a six hour drive from Vancouver is a bit much, as tempting as it is ( Ott is in town!) If any of you, including all of you on the island, are aware of anything taking place Aug.11-14( indoor or out, but preferably out!), please let me know. No party too small! Hell, I'd even head to the mountains with you if your car stereo has enough power! I dj'd in Japan and Thailand for three years, then got hitched and started a family, which left little time to shake my bones. Thanks in advance! Tanuki
  2. Theoreme - Less Is More First listen, not sure what i think yet.
  3. nice party, looks like a good vibe. lots of people having a stomp. simon's set sounding solid.
  4. For those not aware, the show is happening right now. Leo from Brazil started 20 minutes ago, Hujaboy up next, then Simon. It's advertised as a four hour show, so a little over 3 and a half hours to go. http://di.fm/wma/liveshow/ Club looks a bit empty now, but i'm sure it will fill up before too long. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
  5. Check out his alter-ego Reflex.
  6. I had the most unfortunate experience of living in the same town as Holymen in Japan and he spent way too much time at the club where I worked. This is a guy with one serious ego, although when he played at my place, I had to show him how to use the mixer! He is his music personified. As cheesy as they come. To see him hitting on little Japanese girls, with trademark cigar in hand, is enough to make you roll on the floor in convulsions. It was a happy day when he finally left town. Can't say I missed the parties he hosted where nobody showed up. Good riddance.
  7. Doggballz- do you know Kaleb? Now working for Canada Post, before at the surfshop.
  8. Like autolycus, long time lurker, 1st post. I was living in Japan in 2000 when a friend loaned me Moment of Truth and a few Destination discs. I was blown away from the first listen, and immediately wanted more. Oddly enough, we noticed some flyers that week advertising a goa/psy party at an underground (literally) club. We made it to the party, and that was it. The city I was living in was packed with Israeli's, as many are doing the Goa - Thailand - Japan loop (the Japan leg is to make cash selling jewelery on the street, the others are for dancing). I'd been working as a bartender and quickly befriended many of them, who passed on lots of music to me. Within a couple of months I'd amassed a fairly decent amount, and started going into the club I worked at in the afternoons to learn how to mix it. A short time later I started to DJ, mostlly at after-parties that wouldn't begin until 7 or 8 am. After a couple of years, I'd worked my way into much bigger parties. The last big event was on an island, on top of a mountain, amidst the trees, off the coast of Hiroshima for 3 days. Pure bliss. Anyway, didn't mean to ramble. Point is, doing the trance dance for the last five years has been incredible. I left Japan a year ago, got married, had a son, bought a condo and am now resigned to stomping around my living room with the headphones cranked. My life has changed but my music has not. Peace. javascript:emoticon('') smilie
