  1. I'm anxiously waiting for Psykovsky's new album, i'm a bit of a Psykovsky fanboy and love the direction he's taking dark psytrance in.

Also Derango, but I don't know if it will ever happen?

Sort of waiting for AP, but i'm not holding my breath for a quality output. Are any of the old masters aware of the neogoa movement or is it still too an obscure a style?

  2. I'm not into dark psytrance. Furious, cosmo etc that I like, but that's it

But ollylovesgoa mentioned it many times, So I'm curious

Psykovsky - Na Ve Ka !

Psykovsky goes beyond your usual glitchy fast dark psytrance imo, really advancing the genre and creating something that can be enjoyed in a different way, not so much about pumping energy, just beautiful movements through sound! If you really like it listen to Tanetsveta, it goes even further!

In huge contrast to this i'm listening to Sky Input :D I've been listening to Filteria's stuff all day and last night, I'm addicted!

  3. Just been giving this one a proper listen and it has really blown me away. I always vaguely liked Filteria simply because it's powerful, and sometimes a running theme in newer Goa is it lacks the sheer power of older classics like Teleport etc, but my god, this is probably the most powerful psychedelic trance album i've ever heard. Constant scream of beautiful melodies, that genuinely never become boring on repeated listens, and only very rarely border cheesey. Filteria maintains a hilarious amount of psychedelia with this album, something melodic newschool also lacks, often the storm of melodic power breaks down into a soup of mind-twisting sounds, to re-emerge even stronger. And underneath it all is a fat bass, swirling acid and a strange calming beauty when you allow the tracks to flow through you. Filteria has made something incredible here, and i'm off to give the rest of his output a solid listen!

9.5/10 (just falls short of the ten because it can begin to sound similiar, this is hardly a problem however when the sound is sheer beauty and power in trance form)

  4. Toi-Doi

    Etnica

    Juno Reactor

    Blue Planet Corporation

    Slinky Wizard

Out: The Manipulators , never heard of them :o, goa?

@Procyon, I asked Richpa about acid trance and he said it's fine, just keep it on the psy side of things.

  5. Looks absolutely beautiful, I do think that the slower music can be just as good as the faster stuff we have nowadays, i'm always shocked at the evolution in pace and tension. I was just listening to Project II Trance and am time and again struck by its more leisurely tempo, groove and enhanced atmosphere, rugged psychedelia.

  6. I hate you, Olly*.

*not really. Or at least, not very much and not for very long.

Very sorry! But Double Dragons, Angelina and Let's Turn On are three of my all time favourite pieces of music, and you're still a genius hehe, not a dishonour to be second to Doof. :)

@ Procyon, seems like a good idea, but I didn't think the artists had to go together, it's just personal preference, still a comment would be nice.

    Ka Sol

    Etnica

    Sandman

    Jaia

    Union Jack

Out: Logic Bomb (Red Herring =)

  7. I'm just gonna post some examples for you (maybe you missed something) ;)

Can you please explain this ''polished'' meaning, are you reffering to mastering quality or something else. Asking that because I was reading few months ago around here how some people complain (including myself) on mastering issues in a lot of releases.

Few examples that I think of (and which are IMHO acid-driven):

    #1 | #2 |

    | #4 |
    |

Only nitzho stuff that I've heard comes from Sita or Ezel Ebed (plus few tracks from Agneton/Goalien/Pandemonium on Phototropic's compilations)

    Spiritual

    Antares - Exodus

    Ra - 9th

Goasia - Dancing With The Blue Spirit

    Afgin - Astral Experience

    Somnesia - Rainbow Source

    Sci-Fi

    E-Mantra/Suufi Astrolab - Astrograms

    Artifact303 - Back To Space

    Psychedelic Quest - Alternate Constellations

    V/A - Dimensional Gateway

    Red Gravity - MLDNRG

    V/A - Pure Planet series

Sky Technology - Time and Space

    Tribal

Well, there i really can't think of any good examples, maybe Grand-Cheff Voodoo GoAttack or NK47 - Outer Space Shaman, but it's not tribalistic that much :)

Anyhow, just wanted to say that I agree with your toughts in some parts, especially that this scene is maybe overloaded with positive/sunshine goa trance and we're maybe don't have more twisted/darker stuff around here, and I hope that we'll have some kind of balance in near future :)

By too polished I don't particularly mean in mastering, more in the instrument choice, there's no organic feel, old school Goa feels so alive, but this new stuff feels distinctly manufactured.

Your examples of theme based music are nice, however I still don't think they touch the impact the themes had in the nineties. The themes serve more of an additional purpose, names of songs and albums etc, when you compare the most sci-fi influenced track from today (or any) with for example, Aliens by Elysium, Total Eclipse or Eat Static, there is no comparison for which is in fact more "alien" sounding.

By the way, Artha is an exception in this, he is making music with a unique sound, and acid growls!

  8. I find myself on Xbox 360 a lot.. probably more than I should. anyone who's interested in befriending my gamertag is: Darkpup69696

I've been having a ton of fun with Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction. Before that I played the hell out of Dead Rising 2. If I'm not gaming I'll be on Netflix, watching some movie.

I'm really just a casual gamer who likes co-op more than competitive play.. And I really hate those douchebag 13 year olds who constantly call you gay terms and curse at you like sailors when they one up you on deathmatching. Nothing makes me want to leave a game more than that.

I know exactly how you feel! It's ridiculous!
