  1. Here's a reply from Ben Watkins himself:

    Hi

It is a juno Label, and it is a new mastering. I hope you enjoy it.

    Ben

I don't know but I thought the release could have been a little bit more crisp in some areas, but nonetheless the original does sound great compared to it's original release date ;)

I guess I will have to see for myself, interesting!

I've bought the first 2 Juno reissues. There is nothing on the booklet that indicates it has been remastered. It could have been helpful to put the remastering credits somewhere on the back sleeve of the CD. Anyway if Ben says it has been remastered it'll probably be the case.

  2. It's easy to trash GMS and IM but are there any artists from within the psytrance scene who have "gone commercial" and retained underground credibility?

    I nominate Ben Watkins :D

I admire Ben for doing his own thing and not following trends. The most important thing for me is the music itself, not how much it sells. IM's music doesn't interest me anymore, I saw them 2 years ago and it was horrible, at least for me it was. So it's pretty easy to bash them, yes. On a side note, I think Ezren didn't like it either judging from the look of his face, just an impression I got.

That whole underground/commercial thing is old news for me. What does it matter? I like what I like. I don't have to explain myself to anyone. Commercial snobs vs Underground snobs, two different sides of the same coin if you ask me. If people really dig psytrance they will look for the best stuff eventually. Well, I hope :)

  3. C'mon guys what happened to give me your darkest darkspy. I wanna be terrorised like only the Taliban can on a good night. Darkspyterrorcore ftw . My speakers are ready to pop their cherry. Hell, I even wanna hear your darkest twilight, Suomi Salami I don't care as long as it makes me shiver. Wasn't that the actual thread BTW. Man this is gettin' silly.

    twilight: Shift kills it!

dark/forest: Derango Lost Theory: bumb up the pitch and you get darkspy.

Don't give me no lip son!

  4. It was a lot easier when people used to define a sound, by simply dropping a label name. It was all psy-trance back then, but people knew what kind of psy-trance the person was talking about when they said Dragonfly, Twisted, Flying Rhino, Blue Room...etc

Even today, people know what one means when they say Solstice, Nano, Iboga, Iono, Hommega, 3D Vision, Alchemy, Parvati, Suntrip, Discovalley...etc

I mean for the darpsy pigeoholers, you can even identify between darkspy styles, by saying this sounds like Paravati style, or this sounds like Discovalley style...etc.

Its a lot more coherent and precise imo, + we get rid of th silly genre names, innit.

    Peace out.

Are you a visionary cause that's gonna be the next best thing if you ask me

  5. It's all about Trance, whatever psychedelic or uplifted, the purpose is the same.

As for Protoculture, it's the artist's choice, and perhaps a commercial necessity, give the man a break would ya?

    Replying to me???

I wasn't referring to Protoculture. With nothing new under the sun I meant trance Dj's playing psytrance for a very long time now. Protoculture does whatever he thinks he needs to do.

  6. Certainly not the best I've heard from Protoculture, but this ain't the first time Armin Van Buuren has played Protoculture. He's played tracks from the latest album and also the remix of Liquid Soul - Devotions (which, by the way, is a great tune).

Also don't forget Paul Oakenfold who is well-known for his legendary goa-mixes, and actually also later on played artists like Nuclear Ramjet and Human Blue if I'm not mistaken. Not to mention John '00' Fleming and Christopher Lawrence who's played progressive psytrance and full on for years already.

Just what I was thinkin'. Really nothing new under the sun. It is trance, overlaps are inevitable. I don't think Armin is gonna play some real psychedelic tracks, though I would advise it. Would love to see Armins' crowd freakin' out on some twisted psychedelic dark stuff.:lol:

  7. Being far from an expert on the matter I still want to put in my 2 cents.

It happened several times when I was at a party where some Dj played dark/forest psytrance which made me dance like there was no tomorrow. Just mindblowing stuff.

On the other hand, there have been parties I attended where they played dark psytrance which was boring, it had no groove just random bleeps(for example E.V.P. live WTF).

It all comes down to what you like or not. I've bought myself DERANGOs' Tumult. That's the stuff I can really dig. It doesn't really matter what it's called wether it is dark/forest/terror??/psycore or whatnot. I like the trippy dark eerie synthpads, the occasional melody, something that's deeply psychedelic and groovy that manages to put a smile on my face while dancing.

  8. Give me link if that isn't problem !

    Thanks
