  1. Sorry for the fairly irrelevant double post but I just noticed that the images on these covers go quite well together to be symbols of the alchemical human being. The ordering of the top three in the intial post wasn't done purposefully at the time. Caverns of time image would have gone well at the base. Not grasping at any deeper meaning here, just pointing it out in fun and maybe as evidence that "god" supports my excessive psy-CD purchasing madness.:P

    I also received V.A.: Peace Therapy 2.

Only purchased one CD last weekend so I'm slowing down a bit. ;)

    Jon :D

  3. Yeah :)

Jairamji: The artwork on the inside cover/s was a lovely surprise. Fairly simple but very effective style of painting that I'd love to get into. Have got all the materials and a few instructional books for it but just haven't got around to it.

Obviously, the music is very nice too! I got hooked on one of the tracks via samples over the weekend.

  4. These 2 arrived today!

I've had this one on purchased mp3 for some time and I'm really happy to own it on CD now as it's one of my favourites!

    Downhill - Silent City

    Posted Image

We had a windy dust storm in our city today and it turned the skies red and visibility was severely impaired. This album was playing in my car for most of the day and really suited the scene!

  5. You sure have money to spend at times like these..

My mum listens to Psytrance, and posts here?!?!?!? :P

Hey JonCrow, arn't you like broke soon  ? :)

Have you made a discogs.com account for your collection? It's gotto be pretty big by now, how many cd's do you recon you own?

    Hey,

I'm not rich guy or a traditional career-man. I do however get paid quite well to put up posters for musical events in cafe's, shops and universities. It's a cool job! Listen to music all day in my car and I'm fairly free and supportive of something that's relatively worthwhile in my actions.

On average I save half my weekly earnings, spend about a quarter and live on the other quarter. =) I'm fairly focused and disciplined in my spending, I pretty much don't spend money(living expenses aside) on anything else other than Psy at the moment. Before that it was books. I'm always saving for travel!

I don't think of money like most people do. I think of it in terms of energy exchange. So when I see Pleiadians IFO for example, I look at it as a third of a days work and the experiences I go through during that time and it feels worth it. I don't have a princess at the moment (nor do I want a woman with a princess mentality!). Don't have a castle to pay off. I don't spend money weekly on alcohol. Nor do I have massive ammounts of debt. My job is secure and I generally have no trouble getting new employment as I've been working in various jobs for the last 17 years and I'm fairly presentable/well spoken etc. Anyway, I wouldn't be afraid if I was out of work.

My collection's ok. I've only got about 200 Psy-CD's, started from scratch about 6 months ago(both in terms of listening and collecting). It's on discogs but status is private for the moment. =) Before this, I honestly hadn't really bought anything music-wise in the last 5 years other than Tool's 10000 days, heap of stuff in India and a few others here and there.

    /Justification

Would it surprise you to know that I have a "few" more on the way?

    Why don't you meditate daily?

    Bed-time!

    Jon :)

I also got a second copy of Pleiadians IFO because I prefer the artwork of the Dragonfly to the Nova Tekk edition. /insane

I'd be willing to sell the Nova Tekk(Very Good Plus condition) copy for a "reasonable" price(50 Euro + shipping) if anyone's interested. I'll most likely list it in the near future.

  7. Hey,

There are a few here that do seem a bit burnt out. Clinging to the past and each other and colouring the present time and newer listeners/psynews members with their tired attitudes. You gotta move on or adapt as you just stuff it up for yourself and others. Everything changes, KoxBox cannot be Forever After.

To give a personal example that always reminds me of this place and the feeling I get here from some of the users. I used to love video games. I used to work in a video game store and be a moderator on one of the biggest video game sites on the net, IGN. /nerd

Around the age of 20 my feelings started drastically changing. To me most of the newer video games then and these days are just tired rehashes or mild tangents of concepts already done from the past but now just with flashier production values etc. I didn't hang round and whinge, cling and waste time. I just moved on. It was healthier for me and others. I wish they still made games for the 2-D, 16-bit systems like the Sega Mega-Drive when the scene was young and had more freedom from commercialism etc.

There is a lot of good here at Psynews. I like visiting to check out what's going on. Seems generally like a great group of people that come together to discuss and contribute to something we all love. In our day to day lives there may not be many face-to-face opportunities to do so. Because the scene is quite small, this site has a unique responsibility. It's nice to think that a site like this, due to it's prominence, can have an impact and that you and I as contributors can play a constructive part if we wish to do so. It's great to share opinions, ideas, experiences and purchases. Even more so, idealistically, it's exciting to share if it's in an environment that's open and generally accepting of difference and change.

    Thanks!

    Jon :)

  8. Well this thread has become mildly entertaining. Thanks Bwhale.

Elysium has some valid points about this place (I'm not therefore agreeing with his entire stance in this thread). It certainly has it's fair share of stagnant elitist opinionation(word does not exist). There's a definite clique of users who sometimes cling to their opinions and each other for protection and validation. I'd be willing to bet my right nut that some of them would even hide aspects of their musical likes and dislikes for the sake of popularity-based conformity etc. You gotta be hardcore man...........underground. But that happens in so many circles of society. It's pretty boring though. Stifling for growth of the forum and might be intimidating for some new users who could even add new life to the place. But eh, it's not all that important.

How about that KoxBox eh? I didn't listen to Dragon Tales today.

    Killlargh!

  9. I am amazed of the Detective work you guys do just to be right ;)

The only detective work I've done is a lot of reading to fuel the 300+ CD's I've purchased in the last 6 months, that reading put me in touch with the above. In that time I've read the entirety of psynews, isratrance and discogs history combined just to help inform myself of the psytrance genre. My memory and eye for patterns and detail aint too shabby either. I wasn't trying to be right, just helpful. :D

To go back on-topic from whence I have so solemnly strayed, I hereby proudly declare that I purchased 2 more of Koxbox's records from ze flea market just last week. I'll be sure to post my highly valuable and sought-after opinions in here to share some intenetz lulz with teh bwhale.

    Jon :P

  10. How come people are branded "trolls" the minute they do not share the common taste here? Seem a bit elitist to me. And I agree. Go after the ball not the man. Debate instead of telling people they have a weird taste or there must be something wrong with their person.

I like some of the old trippy stuff Koxbox made. The new stuff is nothing but generic full on.

Nothing has changed at Pie News. People are still not entitled to start any topics that are not in agreement with certain members taste or World views. But its dandy ok to start tons of topics with Simon is God etc. If you do not like the exact same music as the elite, and make the "mistake" to say it out loud then you will be executed in public.

My advice is this. If people dont like the smell in the Bakery stay out of the Bakery (in this case this debate) ;)

I am ready to be executed now :)

You're a bit off-track here. This guy is doing it repeatedly and purposefully because he wants to be machine gunned.

Sneila from this thread is also bwhale/eiko from these threads linked to below, and many more if you can be bothered wading through his shit-trail of various aliases and campaigns of deliberate attention-seeking negation:

    Thread 1

    Thread 2

There are moments when people engage sincerely in defence or response to some of this persons comments and I don't enjoy seeing people waste heart or effort when someone is just toying with them for cowardly entertainment. If I see this sort of behaviour while browsing the boards then I don't mind taking the time to point it out to maybe save even just one genuine person a little time, effort and feeling that they may have spent on an empty cause.
