I'm always a bit self conscious when it comes to the whole "me make music" thing so I'm a bit lost for words, but it really is good when other people enjoy that which I've spent so much time working on. Thank you everyone for all the positive stuff you've said about AURYN, I'm really very pleased it makes other people happy.
You can feel his passion has poured into it. Even though it may at times sound digital, probably because it is mostly, it has a soul that many other albums are lacking entirely.
Thank you Shpongled for a lovely review. I have indeed put a huge amount of myself on AURYN, doing exactly what I wanted throughout. I'm really pleased this has transpired somehow. I do have a liking for the more digital sounding synths, especially in contrast to more analog sounding instruments.
Also shouts to Paul for helping out with snakes and to Igor (Deimos) for wonderful job regarding the mastering and sounding of AURYN.
Both of them are gold. The snakes were exactly what I had in mind, and couldn't be happier with Igor's respectful mastering work. None of that would've come together without you at the centre of it all pulling the strings and crystalising the artwork into something beautiful. Thank you Iván.
It looks like Luis has a penchant for child-fantasy films like Neverending Story and The Princess Bride
Haha yes I do! The Neverending Story is such a wonderful book which has changed for the better my approach to life. If you ever stumble upon a good copy, printed in red and green, treat yourself to it for an evening, read it in one go. Thank you for the kind words
Excellent album. Nice job.
9/10
Thank you Mr Freeze

Haha yes, you're not the only one. Not sure what the hold up is but I'm hopeful it'll be out any second now.

Can't waitttt And I would kill to see BSF in London some time... Just convince someone to do a goa night for once!
Thank you, neither can I! I do play in London a few times a year at smaller do's, and also elsewhere in the country... just next weekend I'm at a small private festival in Norfolk, shame it's sold out or I'd try get you in! Easiest is to add my feed on facebook as I usually say when I'll be around playing next
-
I wish I had any control over that, it's on Ektoplazm's hands now and they of course have their own schedules to keep I hope it'll be out soon enough though.

Just listened to the samples, sounds like a proper one!

You could layer several sounds. A formula I've found works well for me is
a. chunky snare sample, with a nice blunt transient and loads of punch around the 200hz mark and mono
b. some kind of clap: dominant around the 800-2000hz region, I like adding a touch of some kind of stereo effect to widen the sound up
c. fizzy highpassed up high open hat, maybe with a little stereo reverb to open up the sound even further
Each sound fulfils a purpose: A contains the cojones of the sound whereas B gives it body and definition and opens the sound and c) brightens the sound up and expands the stereo field a little further.
Play with their levels and removing parts of their spectrums where necessary (eg no point having any mids on the fizzy layer when that's being covered by the other ones) and running all three through a compressor to mash them up more cohesively.

We definitely need more quality goa labels, this is really good news!

I'm almost half way through my 30's and they've been awesome so far. Some things do have to change however, I for one am actively planning for the future right now, which would've been unthinkable 10 years ago.
30 is a threshold many struggle to cross but it's not nearly as bad as you think.

There are some vegan/vegetarian cafes with similar ideas. Inspiral - in Camden is one i have been to a few times. Though not playing goa only, still you can hear some in the background through the day, and they have psy events there some nights.
Really cool place. I like your idea and it might work, I'm sure there might be/were some like that in Byron bay in Australia too. You would just have to find a "laid back" kind of area
Yeah InSpiral is quite a lovely place, I find the whole vegetarian thing rather annoying and cliched tbh but the music's great and the atmosphere very friendly.

Thank you guys for the support, I'm very excited about it, and almost done. Second set of samples hopefully some time next week!

Superb. Best way evar to finish off my last festival for the summer and the end of my holidays.

Wow, what a sudden reality check. He seemed like a pretty straightforward kind of chap, rest in peace and condolences to his family.

This sounds really promising, really looking forward to it.

I'm going to lost theory. Be nice to meet peeps from here

Corolle is amazing. It has loads of personality, it's beautifully musical and flows from one tune to the next with an ease not many people can afford. Doesn't sound like anybody else's goa for that matter. It's a proper piece of music, if goa ever saw any. I for one would love a second album

lol, actually, I'm glad someone paid attention.[...] the one in Blade [...]
Really enjoying Nova Fractal's, Lunar Dawn's and Trinodia's so far, even though haven't had time to listen to the whole release yet believe it or not.

It really is difficult to play live stuff when it's trance we're talking about. For starters, it's often just the one person. The music is really quick, this makes playing some of the sequences impossible unless you're a really good keyboardist. Everything needs to be in perfect sync, or you risk throwing people off whatever it is they're dancing to.
My approach is to render the choice of tunes to 4 stems, each grouping different instruments (I have different FX set on each stem I can invoke at any time via the midi controllers), and leaving some out - usually pads and acid lines. Tunes then are arranged into the set (you can get some really slick transitions this way). This allows me to play many of the pads, or the slower melodic lines, tweaking 303's and fucking with several FX channels controlled by MIDI.
Now that I'm playing out a lot more often, I'm re-evaluating this set up to see what else I can do to make it as live as I possibly can.

I will be playing at an End of the World party on the same lineup as OOOD. If the world blows up that night, at least we'll be having some fun. When it doesn't, I'll be surrounded of hippies I can exercise my sarcasm on. There really are no downsides to it!

Among many other things, Ableton's operator is really good for bass. Being able to have control over the harmonic content directly instead of relying on EQ is really handy to keep a bass sound consistent across keys. The envelopes are also very tight. The ladder filter is particularly good for this job.
-
Fabfilter Pro-Q is my favorite EQ by a long mile and I don't really ever use anything else these days for that particular job. The interface is gorgeous and easy to use, it has loads of useful features like built in spectrum analyser with gain reduction view, an m/s mode, sharp hi and low pass filters which actually work, it's very good on system resources and it sounds great.
Unfortunately it costs a fair bit, but it's worth every penny.

Something I have on the drawing board right now

Best of luck on your first compilation!

He released a great album last year, bit more serious business though. Worth checking out either way.
Feelings is on a similar vein to energy waves:
