  1. X-dream has never been a real Goa band, check their first tunes, check the history discography of Tunnel records...

X-dream at first was an over the norm creative kinda hardtrance band due to his presence on Tunnel rec. (re-listen Children of the last Generation, Zebra, Trip to Trancesylvania) then little by little they get closer to the the psy scene & "Radio" was one of this perfect example just by bein licensing on mythic uk Blue Room label.

The second thing is that quite quickly Marcus Maichel has incorpored his dark, minimal, tech desire directions inside the X-Dream stuffs & obviously, their sound definitively evolves less harmonic & melodic for more stomper, roouger sounds with this album.

  2. The first link is a zip file I made on OS-X. The second is a rar file I made on Windows as some people seemed to be having issues opening the first one. The content is the same in either case. 7 wav files of the individual tracks, one mp3 of the whole album and text file with track info. The server seems to be having issues, but I have downloaded both files successfully several times using Firefox with DownThemAll and unzipped them successfully.

Thanks for this "au revoir gift"

Ps: currently downloading (not very quickly) but in progress, works for me :)

    edit:dl stopped at 126 mb too ...

  3. Tri-Force

    Sci Forest

    Yamabikaya

i agree too ... but for Tri-Force Elf Music didn't release anything since 2006 :(

Concerning Sci Forest, i doubt the standard fans of suomi have dug fully his album unfortunately probably too experimental for the psy norm  . It's a pity coz it's one those rare artist from Japan like Theoreme bringing some typical high extreme energy in their music which i admit goes with different styles in both cases.

  4. Tell us what happened.... :drama: :drama: :drama: :drama: :drama: :drama: :drama: :drama: :drama: :drama:

    +1

did his Par-2 own label bankrupts ? or something else?

This situation draws more generally the attention on how is fragile this scene economically.

When i see the Cloudcycle'blog where Mauxuam & Greg Hunter are more than happy to discover that at least someone start to airplayon a radio their new conceptual music & even that a digital store is interested in selling their for now, free stuffs, it's quite intriguing to me, how low situated should be the psy musical market market...

Sad, he even deleted his myspace account, coz was having one isn't it ?

  5. I used to know Silicon Sound and I know he's been working on it. One year ago he told me the album was about to be released...and nothing happened.

I don't know how much he has lots of things in progress or if there's a lack of inspiration or something. I just don't know.

I have an addition to make to the lists above. There was an album from Absolum called "Colours" that was planned on 3DVision back in 1998. I don't know why it was never released (OK, I know more or less). A few tracks were released here and there however: Indigo, Metalizer, Green Light, Orange. Caramel was also another unreleased track from the same album that turned around.

I even saw the artwork, because I met Loops (the guy who just made the BPC cover) at the time and he showed it to me. I rememeber the front cover looked like grey fish scales.

I wish it was released now. Federico ????

When I think I even saw Elixir live twice....they should have done an album too. Definitely cause it was crazy.

At some time i think Silicon Sound was perhaps hoping doing something in chill as he went running several projects "Altitudes' , "Even 11" with Yannis formerly Jaïa but none of them has really emerged ...

Some new Technossomy, Hunab Ku or Electron Wave would be great!

Few chances here, as James Monro has evolved since

    => http://www.myspace.com/djjamesmonro

Don't know what happened to Matt Evans btw, he was originally drummer i think.

  6. Cosma :(

    Dimension 5

    A good follow-up of "Quadra - Serotonia"

    Silicon Sound

Concerning Silicon Sound his situation is more than strange , indeed it's one of the most acclaimed French artist although the second album never happened & don't know if it'll one day. His debut album was released on Moon Spirits if i'm not mistaken but this sympathic French label has passed out due the rip of its distributor(Cosmophilia).

I mean the guy has been licensed a lot with full of single tunes released on so many v/a from different labels that could results as an opportunist situation (as he was considered as Top Name selling), that's just my own interpretation, no clue or proof of that of course. Btw i think he has done a compilation for Neurobiotic (more globally i believe it's the label from which he's the most attached now) quite lately otherwise he's quite involved in Mastering services for psy labels.

  7. this guy (thomas) offered to buy for a small fee the license for some old tracks of mine that were released on now defunct labels (crotus, zma, sub machine)...nothing to lose so i agreed. He can do what he wants with them now...same with any tracks from crotus records cause as far as i know he bought them too (?).

it's interesting, so actually when a label rip, the artist gets back on the propriety of his creation. Btw this Thomas appears like having raptor's behaviour not to say scavenger :o .
  8. Did anyone listen to that set

    Thanks

    Tony

Have put an ear on it unfortunately must be quite recent full on for major part , i don't know anything on the end sounds more South African style nevertheless for my curiosity & culture would appreciate too to have some names especially the first half of the set :posford:
  9. This topic is about follow-up albums that simply never came or they seem never to be coming.

You know artists that made such an impact with their debut albums that it's pity a second album never came or seem to coming soon.

    Here is my list:

Colorbox: Train to Chroma City is pure bliss, unfortunately a second album never came.

Cydonia: Legendary group (are they still active btw?), but they only released one album.

Derango: It's almost 4 years since Tumult. We need a new albums guys!

Four Carry Nuts: Is Tim Schuldt so busy with all this mastering? :P I want a new Mechanical Age!

Frequency Deluxe: Banging Full On that never had a follow-up. Pity.

    GNOTR: No comments here.

The Nommos: The same with Derango.

Psygone: I've said the story many times about Hypnotic and Psygone's second album Organique. The worst thing is that the Organique tracks never got released unmixed. :(

Scatterbrain: Infernal Angel had SUCH an impact back in 2003. It's 2009 today!

    Slide: No comments here.

Steptime: Great forest psy. They almost dissapeared after that.

    UX: No comments again.

Normally I would put Indoor and Tandu here, but both Ofer and Avi created many albums after that.

    Whataboutyou?

I remember reading Ux myspace or perhaps Kris Kylven one telling something was prepared under the Ux project to be done nowadays but no news since...

Cydonia hum seems the members change their musical directions better see this ;) :

    http://www.myspace.com/steveronan

    http://www.myspace.com/dinopsarasmusic

Slide has made prog with Cass , have lost interest to my ears since then...

Seems you're true 4cn is only doing mastering & professional purposes which are certainly more lucrative than running Aurinko as a label or releasing new stuffs ...

  10. Quite strangely there's a French artist which made a recent debut album quite in this style it's Noisy Pipes & gets very few feedbacks whereas i consider he produced honest tracks

So i don't know if people don't like the album, are not connected with his sound or just don't know the existence of the release ...

But you should try some samples at least

http://www.myspace.com/noisypipesNoisy Pipes - Out of sync with this world

  11. Just spotted another "new release": Sensient - Solistic. Both tracks already appeared on Various - Soundscapes Part 1 by Crotus Records.

Also the Progressive Killers Compilations by Plusquam Records contain several tracks that were already released in previous years.

I guess quite a lot people bought them and thought they were getting new tracks only. Actually this is more or less fraud in my opinion.

It definitely looks like Colin is correct about Plusquam/Midijum/Synergetic/Psytropic Records. I sent a mail to Plusquam Records and asked about all this. I got a reply from a guy called Thomas (Vitali?). He said that Colin is "talking crap" already since a long time, and that they don't understand my motive, even IF they were owner of Crotus Records. I replied that it's absolutely interesting for people to know which label belongs to whom. Now i'm waiting for their reply again, but i have a hunch that they will ignore me from now on.

Yep i confirm you the guy must be Thomas Vitali coz some years ago i've got a guy from Psytropic asking me on Isratrance to make reviews for his label releases Psytropic, & he presented himself as "Thomas Vitali headlabel of Psytropic rec". I remember perfectly that at this time, already all the Psynina rumours crap were existing & btw declined his offer as it wasn't matching my taste furthermore ... B)
  12. Plusquam Records (and Midijum Records and Synergetic Records) are now owned by the guy who also owns Psytropic Records, Thomas Vitali aka Chemicus aka Psynina. If Plusquam has bought Crotus it means really that Vitali has bought it. Try asking Vitali direct.

    What a news.

Plusquam & Midijum used to be respectable progressive labels, furthermore Plusquam was at first, just the sub label progressive division of Spirit Zone, later bought by someone of the sub label i think( forgot his name... dj Laureth ?). Same Midijum was held by Dj Bim also involved in Com.pact i think.

I'd like to understand how it's possible but seems true. Because Psytropic has always appeared to me as quite small label thingy with few releases (not especially milestones) & some connections with Trancelucent if i remember well.

So this Vitali must be naturally a rich guy?:blink:

    First official Psy travesty?

BTW things like that happen a long time now. Anyone remember Hypnotic records?

A very prolific label from Danemark with artists sometimes appearing on weird v/A from ZYX, but with some good tunes from time to time, were oftenly sounding to me such as kinda cover names of famous Goa artists whereas it was nearly the same 4-5 same artists.
  13. Yep agree 2009 is year for chill releases so far & doesn't seem to stop.

Troll Scientists is composed of a Finnish duo : Jani Inkeroinen & Staffan Ström.

This is their second opus, the first Useless Science was released 2 years ago (2007) released on Space Boogie Productions.

Get ready for the visit, don't forget your cap to protect your head, the sun is hitting hard, here we go...

1 => From the start we've got a good idea from what to expect all along the album, as it begins heavily in few seconds. Actually, after a very swift intro that could let you imagine you gonna have some chill... then Bing Badabooum !

Some exotic flute are near announcing the real matter, a pure dance floor stomper. It's noticeable from that point, the production 's differences between casual Suomisound (or past ones) & this one: the sound is crystal clearer, apparently less rough through the bank tones, but more diversified in its construction. We kept some Sumisound trademarks with the multi layered invasion for example & the melodic raving touch of course. Less usual for Suomi style, lots of variation with effects like filter; or right-left balance.

2 => Time for Violin's symphony, indeed up to 0'45 nevertheless i was thinking it'll continue like this all long but no...Some craziness is scheduled for soon, it evolves into the same symphonic harmony accompanied with a break beat rhythmic for short. Then mutes again into a somehow accelerated twisted Latino dance rhythm (Bossa ?) which results very entertaining & funny , very intense too.

3 => Troll Scientists are good expert with playing tricks with sounds & samples, best proof with this beautiful intro. I was convinced, listening to Follow The Sardines for the 1st time, that my cd was scratched as the cd seems to skate ... Otherwise the sounds are crispier, more tense, shrill ; could be a Prodigy's tune or Big Beat stuff at this moment. Like Often, lots of change in a single track, in 2 steps : here it occurs between 2'00 & 2'30. The tune gets groovier & spacier, a very lil Funky influenced.

4 => Starts with a guy incanting or praying, after we received some electrified & rocking Funk. Another quite weird alchemy cooked by our Finnish guys as they, later, couples it with Oriental background (sitar, oriental woman voice ...). How incredible it appears, this mixture works, it's successful.

5 =>It goes on here with at first plan Oriental sounds but once again mixed with what i think have recognize as Flamenco rhythmic (acoustic guitar also is played). It's fucking weird, actually it's like they succeed in playing in Flamenco mode some Oriental melodies..!

6 => Here's an exercise of style in a "slow motion' mode with strong twisted & hypnotic feelings, apart from that you'll get some rumbling bass & crispy tones too. It's a lot more experimental & freestyle, at the opposite of all previous tunes up to now. The presence of the muted of voice has a major impact on the track, sounds like a ghost personification in an ancestral Scottish castle.

7 => Haha, they put some Bandoneon as main lead melodic, at first sounds quite classic then moves into melo feelings, it confers a very nice atmosphere, a climax for me. Warning, it's possible here again, to catch one subliminal oriental instrument in guise of break (who said Sitar in the room ?).

8 => The musical background is quite Disco (at least the bass line) married with some bongos (at beginning of the track at least) whereas the melodic lead is typical Suomisounding. The aim is very dance floor oriented here without any doubt. On the end the melodic part could resonates more old school Goa influenced (after 6"00) then Funkier.

9 => Let's get ready for some mischievous atmosphere, sort of kiddies old school platform video game :) . Ziko moves shortly to acidic psychedelic parts, keeping the initial feeling though, quickly only remains the soft kiddies psychedelic elements. Suddenly the song changes, like in old videos game when you penetrates a house or exit a place & so the sound accompanies your moves, i've got an exploring my walk speed impress at that moment, or more classicly saying Forest Trance sounding. The end could also be perceived as an old final Boss confrontation,as it turns more Epic & twirling.

10 => Sir Eel ends up with a faster & darker track (almost apocalyptic), highly shrill with a hint of Medieval impress (perhaps due to the Jump galloping rhythmic). It's somewhere between The Misted Muppets for the high energy medieval style & Oforia through his old darker , aggressive & sometimes fast Goa productions like Maximiser, Why not on Mars or some projects Tandu - Alien Pump, Pigs in Space - Solar.

There's a little bonus, without spoiling too much, i just wanna say it reminds me some Hardcore Bonzaï stuffs (Famous Belgian label from the 90's known for its rave more or less extreme or commercial sounds).

SUM UP => With Sir Eel, they try to reinvent or create an evolution of the usual Suomisound, the Suomisound v2.0 somehow.

So, if you're expecting a following of their début album here, you'll be a bit disappointed i think whereas you're a great afficionados of new explorations musical alchemies territories, you've got great chance to be amazed !

  16. How do you actually double post when there is a flood control of 30 seconds? Is your internet that slow that you press "add reply" then after 30+ seconds it hasn't done anything & you hit it again only to post twice?

I have double posted I think once as if I hit the add reply button twice I just get the flood control warning.

don't know mate, sometimes internet is normal & by time weird, slow, broken.

    It's quite a mystery
