  1. Review is on Psynews.org > Reviews > 2008 > Jikooha - Revolution Spaceship album review
  2. Jikooha is one of my favorite Goa trance projects. They are in the top 5 for sure. Two Japanese anarcho punk enthusiast on istruments. Outstanding Goa trance expirience. First of all when I've opened CD pack, I pulled out cover to read all the things on it. I saw that inside of cover is picture from Ageha club in Tokyo and that was so great to me cause they choose picture from this club. Especially the club! Lot of great memories... Ok, lets start: 1. Intro the timewave If I didn't know that this was intro, I would actually think that it is a start of whole track with indian motives, because the pad which plays as a main sound in intro totally reminds me on background for melodies with that character. To bad that it finished so fast. I heard the story inside. 2. Bay hall magic Here comes the story very fast! Like pure old school beggining of the track. Loads of 303 leads make me so spiritual. Returns me to great Goa times. The way of expanding background instruments in old school style is so outstanding. Totally acid sound. Next thing I expected are wonderful melodies with uplifting or how producers like to say, "opening cut off", filter on another background 303 instrument which is filled up with classic goa trance melody. And there is an excellent hysteric sound over it. Amazing! Break is filled up with the high sound of synth, with a lot of snares pupmping and the main melody which continues to play during the rest of the track. Magnificent! Totally brings me back. Thank You. 3. Vega And they continue in the same groove. Acid never dies! I simply love that "angry" leads and bassline, sharp hats and deep kick. Openwide melodies with a lot of reverb on them brought me to a perfect pleasure. I felt that I need an open space for this music, cause this music is made for it, like most of the goa trance production. I was nicely surprised with deep down upcoming short lead that plays a bit wierd theme. After more acid back in the track, arised more beautiful themes. It sounds like a melodies fight. Especially the part in Goa Trance style where there are so many melodies that can never bore you. And thats the point in the first place! 4. Super Secret Aria 51 Hehehe, Aria 51 is persistent source of ideas for making a good track. Most of the lines in this track can be used as a super original soundtrack for some scene in the movie that tells about "Aria 51". They are so intent and make the atmosphere in song to sound like that. Melodies are incredible. Especially moments of lifting up on octave, higher and higher. Well done guys! Also I must say that in this style of Goa, I totally like when groove comes out from the depth and drives through whole track in the background. 5.Fractal Rock City At the first moment I tought that this track will slow down the tempo style on album, but after the kick started I realised that this is one of the tricks with slower bassline on faster rhythm. Although the tempo is fast, track still has a slow story. That kind of tempo is the best for initiating guitars in trance.Despite that I mostly dislike guitars in electronic music this is the case when guitar is on the right place and remind me on some Anime soundtrack Trippy!!! Maybe in this track live drums would fit better then syntetic rhythm. Only thing that I dislike in this track is that the biggest accent is put on higher tones. In one moment everything starts to scream! 6. Red road Starts like tribe ritual. Uhuhu I like it! That pad with creepy moments is just like it should be. It fits pretty into a rubber bassline. Also, a laser gun effect is really nice to hear inside. Snare is a bit higher than it should be, but this is just a matter of taste. I know a lot of people who like higher tones in sound. As they say: "Positively irritant sound". Well, I could agree with them totally, just in some sections of track I dont like it that much. Vocal in the track is totally cool. And then, such a wonderful melody starts!!! Pure emotion. Looking for trees, not the walls of clubs The best thing in Jikooha tracks is that they are using that sharp hat all the time and this is the sound that makes me jump. I give a lot of attention to hi hats in every style of music that I listen. Here, it's just perfect! Also I must notice that in this track, there are many paranoid sounds of leads and this is bingo in this kind of arrangement. 7. Omega Point (edit. Eiji) As I see it, this is a succsessful cooperation. That very first sound remind me on legendary pionires of Goa sound, "Shamanic Tribes on Acid". I must say that these projects have a pretty similiar way of expression in music. Part after the break sounds so powerfull!!! It goes on the way of pure energy. As I already mentioned, I like that kind of "angry" melodies in Jikooha's music. Gives that nocturnal sound to the atmosphere, but still they can play it either when the morning comes or during the night. 8. Galaxy Journey I expected a real journey and they confirmed that with starting melody and vocal. Over and over again I must mention hi hats in this song... It's just amazing match to the rhythm. Oscillation on octave is also wonderful. I like a lot that changing notes through the theme. Prettyspacey drive! Melodies in this track are totally lovely! 9. My revolution and yours This is the best track on album. Excellent bassline and melodies, like on the whole album, of course. Its real cyber punk track! Guitar works awesome to! Many sound effects and twisted melodies are making confusing atmosphere! That is actually what works the most in this track. This drive reminds me on "Wierrd Eggs" style by Four Cary Nuts. Twisted moments in goa trance are always welcome. The end of the track is also superb, 'cause all that sanity is stopped so suddenly and it just plays one lead for a couple of seconds to calm down crew 'till the total end. Respect! I can say for sure that this is totally well done job. One of the greatest releases in 2008. Its real honor to say that music like this existe even today. From all goa projects today I think that this project is one that keeps whole old elements in music. Inheritors of Mantra, Shamanic tribes, Alien Mutation, etc...One more time, Respect and see you at the party!!! 3. So far just in Japan, for Europe and rest very soon. Will be on vinyl for Europe at september from Nachtstrom Schallplatten german record label http://www.nachtstromschallplatten.com
  4. In free expression Its kind of slow and massive techno sound with admixture of trance motives. And i agree with Pavel that is a bit darker then in previously trio...
  5. Fantastic release. Been listening this CD more then 10 times from intro to "My revolution..." and its simple amazing. More about this release will write in upcoming review. Thank You Jun & Shimodi :clapping:
  6. To be honest, I couldn’t wait to hear some new stuff that Marcus prepared for The Delta project, but now I must admit that I had some doubts that album will see the daylight since he involved himself in many different projects. And in the end, all that waiting for new album didn’t seem so long because all these years I enjoyed his creations for other projects, so I didn’t feel the need to hear something new. After hearing his new crafty sound I felt great happiness and I must give a big “Thank You” to Nachtstrom Schallplatten label for this great pleasure and to Japanese publisher Wonkavator who made this CD release possible. 01.Schmerzverstarker Miniature filtered sounds that are wriggleing throughout ambient effects indicate visually the whole atmosphere like some dark and deeply buried underground object. Then, it slowly turns into distorted rhythm that is typical to this project and the energy of track starts! Many effects that are more like “underwater” and increasing of reverb give accent to occurence and rise the atmosphere tension in the track. I am totally delighted with bass line. Like a sound of some grinding machine or something like that. Pretty nice surprise is an old analog sample that wriggled through the track for a moment. I am talking about the sample that is like some kind of laser simulation or similiar and is being used in 80’s on radio stations for jingles. Snare seems to be recorded with some kind of concrete block, LOL. It is extremly strong and powerful moment that contributes to rhythm such an amazing industrial infulence !!! At the end, effect that reminds on sound of ferquency test is a bulls eye!! He could turn it up a little more to tremble our eardrums to the pain limit, LoL. 02.Minusman The leading track on album! OUCH! What a bloody break beat! Someone is going to break a neck in the club. I’m not sure about you, but I’m shaking in front of these sounds. Tracks like this deserve reverence. Probably that is why I get crazy on industrial sounds. Pad which literally simulates the speech of monster computer in my head is a definition of this track and I believe of whole album. In my oppinion it even overpowers the destorted kick which seemed to be the strongest in the track, but after the pad that I’m talking about. There are as many filters as you want. Well, this kind of music is simply born for filters. Slightly to say – MAGNIFICENT TRACK!! 03.Minusman Rmx If there was no pause between these two tracks, I could swear that the same track is going on, just with a little varied character. Of course, later I’ve noticed that track is renamed into Minusman Rmx, so everything is clear now. Ok, you can ask me now which beat is more massive and bigger amongst these two tracks?? The answer is: I don’t know!! Both tracks made me feel like my head is peering out of cement! I’d rather hear this in a club then win a BINGO on lottery. I swear! This sound changes a molecules structure in my body! Outstanding sound and heaviness. First-class production (nothing new for this project). I would love to find more words to describe how I feel about whole this “Delta story”, but I'm afraid that someone will think that I have some serious mental distractions and will mix up my emotions with dope, so in further text I will only use "earth" phrases. 04. Nightmares & Dreamscapes (Backstream) We continue in the same rhythm, but this time we are moving to flat rhythm which tempo only apparently slowes down the thickest hat I have ever heard on this world. I think that I could start crying from this quantity of sound in one place. Dramatically tonality and colours, pads definitely manipulate with the listeners tension. So many delays and reverbs, distortion and highly peaked middle tones on effects. And the beat is like harvester, grinding and grinding! It is a sound term of unrealized dream of mankind - "Perpetum Mobile". Respect!! 05Midnight Circulator Rmx And after the 20 minutes of introduction in downtempo/break-beat style, story starts to speed up. How many times this fantastic rhythm is going to be repeated? Great! Things that keep my concentration for this type of projects, despite the rhythm which is essential in the form of movable strip, are elements such as pads that are showing emotions even when the music is hard and agressive. This can`t be experienced even on the most floating melodies in any kind of electronic music. And not to mention the moments like this disordered irritating sound that I would like never to stop and where, after his end, whole machinery starts to play. Definetly, if they ever decide to record a video, the right thing would be a symphonic orchestra that will play grinders, stamping machines, rack cutting machines and all other stuff. This is something what I call "singing machines". Who says that mechanics don`t have emotions!? I can already imagine potential DJ's that are playing this style in sets and their argueing on the parties regarding who will play this track 06.Overpressure rmx International train for Neverland!! Sit back and enjoy. Full techno pleasure! Many hats, cymbals rides, filters that increase rhytmh and visualy symbolize it, as I already said at the beginning, endless journey by train. If the track was fast it would be roller coaster, but that is not the point here. WOW,what a sudden end of the song. 07.The Machines Let's go! More pure techno to come! In the backround there is a sound as a siren from a distanced train, which is for this occasion pulled down to the last segment. Drive is not over. Rhythm slightly reminds me of older Deltas’ track “A+B”. And then, of course, CUT OFF untill the end to give a panel for THE GREATEST MELODY EVER!!! It blows my head off. Here is one more proof for those who don`t believe that mechanics can CRY!! Magnificent break with even better uplifiting moment which definitely plays the drill . Great break with simulation of stopping gramophone vinyl. That is an excellent stroke. It is very repeatedly used in techno tracks, but still not that often, so it is very interesting. UUUU. Must say that this emotional sequence with soft leads and falls on sound distortion reminds me to Manibus release "Distorted roads". Definitely, that is the story. That style! My style! Pefrection! 08.As a child i could walk on the ceiling rmx (two in one) Remix of very well known hit that, in my oppinion, even people who are not listeners of electronic music heared for. Progressive moment. Great! Very good and carefully chosen style for remixing. I like it a lot. After a well-known slogan it passes into the psychedelic story and leaves room for DJ sets that are rather in Psy Trance style then techno bits. Positive matter in this remix is that the track got real refreshment and also that people again have a great track which we all liked! So, despite the interleaving of this two styles in track, which really heats my hart, I would more like that the track followed on the story from the beginning, to the slogan and transition to the agressive moment, known as "roasting" Otherwise, the "Two in One" in brackets I could interpret as a division of the track on two styles, couldn't I? 09.Dustbuster Lets go back to the sound of industry I will not hold on to this track for too much, cause I think this is one of those tracks that are here only to fill up the album. Now, many of you would, I can guarantee, got this wrong, like I spit at the track or whatever. Infact, that is not true! I like this song, of course, but this is in my opinion, one of those tracks which are time-out between spent ideas. I really don`t know how to say this to sound better or more rationally. I can try to say it like this: If I was a DJ, I would use this kind of track in my set for switching between the two "volcanos" of songs. In case that i don`t like this track, I won't even put it into my set. So I like it. Just track is here to give a little chill to crowd of this high-light moments, to keep them in the rythm, good mood and to prepare them for next real rush of tsunami waves!!! And if I wasn't clear now, I really don`t have idea how to explain it differently. 10.Warp (megamix) AAAAAAAA this is what I was talking about and you didn`t trust me. Here is a rush close behind! Like I already knew. Damn it, what a rhythm. This sample that plays the melody of locusts run wild, blows my mind. What a breaks, man!! Ok, you probably realize that I'm writing this at the same time while I listen to this track, but I'll try to reach this arrangement as far as i can. Great theme of the song. Lead melodies over the synth that plays the pad are totaly unusual for this project, but it fits into the best place ever! And now, it comes that robo sound which slightly reminds me of a vocator, but in fact I didn`t like it. Somehow with this robo sound track sounds commercialized. It turnes into the happy rave moments. That part would be a good motivation for Soumi artists, cause such material in that style is the best. This is some other story, so this part is not one of my favourite, but luckily, it didn't last too long. 11.Nightmares & Dreamscapes Breakbeat moments from the 4th track. It sounds very good. I would put this in some kind of intro or outro on an album. It is great for the beginning or at the end of release. 12.H.O.B. (+ bonus track) :) :) LOL He will definitely be a very good composer of movie music. Innovation of James Bond or something similar. It is really an innovation, cause that rhythm in backround is not here just like that and for sure it is not a product of tams and congas, it is a product of clear synthetic. According to the movie criteria, harmony of all instruments has a great set up. Leastwise, it is how it sounds from my laymen view on film composition. Very interesting bonus material despite unusual number of tracks that we got on only one album. What to say at the end of this story? Great product that marks year 2008 as one of the best in last decade for techno-trance sounds and projects. And especially one of the most productive in last years, as this sound came to parallel with extermination of White Bears. Luckily, in artists there is awaking of some nostalgy or desire for this sound. I hope that we will one day hear Spirallianz, Boo Reka, PPS, Opsis, Authentik, Three Point Turn, Tromesa and similar projects which formerly impounded attention of fans. And one more thing: one of the smallest minus to this album is that tracks are too short, for my criteria. They are too short for this kind of expression. Thats all. Keep it on originals!!! Lara
  7. "Knock Knock, Bang Bang! MinimalNeoTechDrama is just kicking your doors off!5,4,3,2,1 Action!", hehehehee I like that kind of introduction for sure. From the start I know there will be something really interesting inside. It's about an artist from totally well-known project to the audience from spheres of techno trance & minimal sound, Jurek Przezdziecki from Poland. When I already mention that he play in that project I should also tell which kind of project that is and I suppose that some of you will be supprised, like: "Hey man, I didn't know that he plays in BigWigs and with that guy from Kino Oko", or "Awesome dude, this is the guy from Epi Centrum, project that kicks ass on '5 tone of flax' from Mechanical Dragon", or maybe "Hey, I've heard this guy on Midi Miliz Green remixes for Boshke Beats as Mass Turbo, it's awesome". Yeah ppl, this is same guy that now presents his debut EP on Boshke Beats like Jurek Przezdziecki. Let's see what is inside of cover Side A1 Sink Master (original version) So, let's introduce ourselves with the very nice start of track. This is the style that Boshke prefer, of course. Not so hard, not so easy. Club vibration. After a while I noticed one keen sound that I like and after that engine started! Rubber bassline in sub frequency in full strike. I like deep basslines as well. Always carry the whole track and other parts of song, have much space to express themselves without any overlaps between sound. Lots of shorts samples in rhythm inspire me to dance. I like full groove pleasure. Now, in this kind of style, beside of melodic lines, you can quite often find parts where some rhytmic elements play the "melody" in track. In this track that part is played perfect. The thing that I notice here is that this track have a great flow and composition. In every moments you can feel how lifting moments rise and rise and coming down and drive and drive and next moment start to lift and lift up and up and up and dooooooown and down and down and I'm in praradise . No, seriously, this is the kind of real club driving. Totally! I can't imagine what will happen to me in the club, bigger space, bigger sound system and more surround then at studio. Why you need more reason to buy this record after this track? If You are DJ of course. Consumers looking for more then one trak smiley.gif So lets check rest of... Side A2 Miasto Masa Maszyna By the very first sounds that I hear, I can guess that will be a bit calm then the previous track. It's ok for warming at club but in my opinion this is more a "for home listening" track then for the club. But, depends how you look at it. There is so many ppl who would not agree with me. This is just my opinion. Why? Well, for me that sound from the second track is more relaxing and "armchair" driving. Close to end, track become a bit wilder. On that part I can start to move my feet. First part is more for head. Sounds from this tracks are amazing because I like that rubber and tongue moments and this track is full of that sound! Side B Sink Master (Robert Babicz Data Dance Re-Work) Re-Work stuff, yea! I like rivalry on one release. Pure thing! Perfect Kick!!! Pefrect! Sound that starts with kick after awhile is also so syntethic and glitchy! MMMMMM my cup! And then Full Bass that fill me up totally. In the club again! And then lots of ploppy efects and I'm smiling! So much wonderful energy. Stamp! Stamp your feets! haha.gif I give, but just for a bit, advantage to original mix just because I like more wideness expression. Maybe this is because of fatter bassline in first track and lot of splashing sounds. But as I say, this is almost irrelevant advantage. Must check it in the club. Both tracks!!! What can I say except that I must check it in the club and second track to convice myself in my theory. Am I right or am I wrong. Anyway, we have here one magnificent release that I really like and that's to everyone involved in this! And it's totally payroll, for DJs that have full release for DJing, if not full then not below 2/3, which is pefect indeed! For consumers total full release without missing any track. This is what I feel about this record. If someone have something to say about the same theme, I would like to read and exchange expiriences. Put the needle on the record ... Bye for now Lara
  8. CUJORIUS ONE - Cat in Bag, bag in River EP (SMR004) Cujorius One is result of three Copenhagen born and raised guys cooperation. Cujo A. Hora, Barney Jacobs & Nicolas Titti. In their mid twenties. During the last years of their teenage periods they found each other and made music together for fun. Later they turned out to be living the philosophy of "Eat, Sleep, Music" They built the studio "The Front" in Cujo's House, and have been based their for the past years. Here many of their tracks, and side project tracks have been made up. in 2001 Cujorius One had their first release and after that many releases has come. # Cujorius One has also enjoyed working with others and has many projects on the side. Working together with people and acts such as: Genetic Spin # Dj Ruth / Meeloo # Sensient # Neotone and others, gives much inspiration to the productions. Many problems and obstacles has been placed in the way of the music over the years bankrupt labels, corrupt labels, labels closing, computers breaking down, synths getting stolen, promoters and organizers not paying for gigs, etc. But the show and the party must go on, and Cujorius One will not stop because of things like this slowed down perhabs, but the passion and need for music keeps us going. Hope to see you all at a party somewhere or in the Copenhagen area. Beer donations are always welcome. Enjoy! 9. Kino Oko is one of those artists that I like to analyse throughout the music that he makes. I followed his work since first project Tromesa and of course, enjoyed in every moment of that progressive techno sound. From time to time he expressed more and more electro note in every project that he was involved. Actually, after his album from year 2005 under the name "Lost Entertainment", I realised that with project Kino Oko, Grzegorz provided more electro motives in some kind of progressive form, based on electro beats as well. Of course he always tries to give audience sound for any moments, morning, sunset, nights, open spaces, clubs. For example, tracks "Dead birth in the sky" & "Man upon the rainbow" are ones of the kind that sound like you can lift up your hands to the morning sunshine or in the culb ambience and disco lights, and you will feel the same effects just in different way. In both cases, these would be awesome moments. This is what I appreciate. Does he have the same effect on this new fresh release...? Well lets see/hear! Put CD in deck and press play... 01.Any Kind of Structure And we have beautiful sound and melody in the same style of Kino Oko. Start of the track sounds like some downtempo ambiental with peaceful minimal beat. Rhythm is very club moment and is perfect for night drive under the visual effect, BUT, as I said in prologue of this review, I can also see myself on some open space in the morning with this track. However, this track is in the right place on album. It's perfect for start or ending set. Track theme is amazing and can be really good motivation for a bit distorted remix track by, for exemple Extrawelt, cause they have that kind of style which is full of emotions and driving. 02.Made in satisfaction And its realy made in satisfaction. Sounds like perfect extension for previous track. Someone is paying attention on album concept Very nice. Also, it's a little bit more agressive, I said A BIT, not much, which is coming from time to time through the theme. About the vocal, I must admit that I don't like its style at all. Actually, I may have got the point of artists, and again I say may have, where I don't like the message expression, with woman's voice or clear man's voice with a bit of delay or something, but also I don't like in tracks that kind of, let's say, comic way of talking.Sometimes can be ok like in "Dead birds in the sky" but here I don't like it at all. I hope that people will understand what I am trying to say. 03.Body and mind Well in this song vocals have much, much better way of expression and effects. Maybe even at one moment, have some SFX vocal melody. Maybe its just effect on me like that, but in my head, I compose like that when I hear this track Anyway, I must say that if track have vocals in its arrangement, then that must be perfect fit on music, in my opinion. Sometimes repeating lot of time could have bad effect on track, but in this one "Body and mind" really moves me. Music part of track I dont have to mention cause this is kind of relaxing but dancing style I like. Electro, but not to much, progressive but not to much and perfect melodic short themes. Brilliant admixture of nowdays popular styles of electronic music. 04.Mother Mature First thing that I noticed in this track is that it have much more oldschool motives then previous tracks. Track is almost POP of '80s. Hurricane!!! Sorry but POP of '80s is my first love and actual touch with electronic sound and it's very nice to hear that kind of influence on artists music in todays tracks. I tried this track in my car also... My advice, it's better to try that feeling when you read my description in this preview, just please volume UP! 05.Symphatetic magic death SNAP! Snap is my favorite sound in music. Probably that stay me from time when I was listening to music just on records, not even from tapes. Nowdays I notice that some of artists put that kind of sound into tracks. I like that. Great access to innovative trance style with a combination of classic. That piano sound is totaly... I don't know how to explain... strange, excellent, wierd at the same time. And, maybe, someone will ask, "Where do you see any simularity with trance style in this track?", just hear that bassline for just one moment! Perfect track for some full on remix and on the other hand, perfect performing that style of bassline in this kind of music like Kino Oko do. 06.Story of forgotten notes Great start of track. Reminds me on old break beats stuff that I used to listen. Very nice relaxing expression of theme in track. I don't know why, but at one moment this track reminds of Daft Punk style. Of course, in much more peaceful form. I noticed after this album also, that Kino Oko is one of that composer that can reach any style of mucis and present in his unique way. Everything can hold that powerful form even with that coming down style of presenting/producing. Big respect for that skill!!! 07.Stand by me And I am Im on the half of album and not going anywhere I know that peacefull intro on this track is just prelude to disco beat that will come later. Arrpegio melody is fantastic! Again it brings me back in the old time. Bassline have the most beautiful sound on album. Bell-shaped melody is awesome part in song. Totaly melancholic & dancing track. 08.Pure Irony Trancy moments again. I think that effect which sound like some expression of animals, for exemple, monkies is unnecessary in this track, but this is the matter of taste, nothing else. Rest of track is great for me. Theme is pure emotion more than irony Maybe that apes effect should present that Irony from track name 09.Remedy Express Maybe I missed by some accident in previous track but I have just been waiting when some glitchild moments on that album will show up. I never really liked that kind of effect but after some artists like Le Saboteur or Shulman or Talpa, I find that moment very interesting, just without overreacting. In this track, that effect is on the right place in normal volume of using. It gives me the feeling like rhythm is break beat from time to time. Oscillation of bassline is also perfect. Tiny melodies and big deep one-shot moments, completes my expectation. 10.Messiah Formula From the first moment I was thinking that kick will go like trough that filter that makes him without bass on it, just on intro of track and then will be something like big pump and start drive normaly, but I was wrong and pleasantly surprised! Song carries on with the kick like that and the other parts of track play like track have full drive. Ok, my tension is still on the top and in expectation of big bang and track still drive without full kick sound but drive me no matter. Like those moments when composer overreacts and it goes through your mind "C'MON!!!". That tension was filled with electronic vocal that I like the most to hear in tracks. Robot singing. Something beautiful. Track still carries on!!! Element by element, from effect to effect, from sound to sound and finally it happens! It totally makes me chill!!! Kick have full power that I was looking for more than a half of the track. Melody is kind of Europian style, it's amazing!!! Whole trip is like in paradise. This is what I'm talking about somewhere at the beginning of my review, when I mentioned remixing track with Extrawelt. MELTING!!! Don't drive with this song ON! It's too perfect for not trying to fly! Just one complain on this "THE BEST" track on the album, second part of track is TOO SHORT for my taste! It's great that first part of track is that much long with all that trip to carry over the entire pre-euphoric part, but after that, Grzegorz, should do the same thing like with first part, just over and over and over... WOW! Simply the BEST! 11.Trough the round window ...and I discover that previous track actually HAVE kind of extension, JUST... just a bit different than it was in my mind. Like, calm down version and it's equally great as much as I expected. About the vocal, had the luck cause I used to listen to Hard Core and Trash Metal, and I like that half whispering vocals but in this arrangement, in my opinion, I think that would be better if vocal was 100% whispering speech... And finaly, at the end, this is one totally fresh new creation, which is holding the style from previous album but have totally different view of story. Emotional in every way of looking and in the first place, powerful calm down music. What does that mean? Well in my head it means everything but in free translation it's something like, "everything you do on agressive and to euforic way, I can achieve same effect on people with much more relaxing style & production." And I say thank You for that kind of music. At the end of this review I just want to say that I'm not here to promote campaign against the piracy, no matter if I dont like that kind of getting music. Just want to say that some of releases JUST DON'T DESERVE to be compressed. Thats all. I hope that You enjoyed this as much as I did. All the best Lara

  13. Since 1996, the project ASURA has polished a personal electronic universe sound, between trance psychedelic, Ambient and World music. Made by many influences, their music does not remain about it less one personal and considered creation, centered on the perpetual search of infinite spaces and multiple origins. Powered by both electronic machines and acoustic instruments, they have created a very distinctive sound which has contributed to making Asura one of the most recognizable bands of the World Ambient Trance genre. Monotonous melancholic lyrics, symphonic waves, fast and slow rhythms, heavy or throbbing, liturgical songs, ASURA introduces a certain solemn vision of the world. Recognized everywhere, little known in France, their titles "Code Eternity " and "Lost Eden" however had many dance at the time of large Trance raves all over the world. Vincent Villuis left the band to concentrate on his new project, Aes Dana, in 2001, and was replaced by Alex Ackerman. The second album, Lost Eden, was out in 2003. Since July 2005, after the departure of Christopher Maze and Alex Ackerman, ASURA became a solo project, composed by C. Farewell, co-founder of the project. The third and newest album, Life?, was released on July 7, 2007, through Ultimae Records. Life? marks its time as the return of the original Asura sound, with 10 strong tracks, composed by melodic echoes, Aramean tribal rhythms, ethereal duduks, hypnotic basslines, symphonic orchestrations, fusion of gentleness and strength blending into acid themes. The outcome is melancholic yet positive, as any renewal would be, a tangible passage, sort of a second life... Right now Asura make an agreement with electronic music label Soundmute recordings, and first ambient EP will be released for this record label at Ambilight group, sub label of Soundmute recordings. 15. First of all, I must say that, when I saw the names on this compilation, I kind of realized that this compilation will be something interesting for me. Put in the player and play: 1. Kalumet - Pandora's Box Well, it's kind of interesting minimal techno sound, but not that much for my taste. In general, track have interesting theme, just a few samples doesn't match with other lines in track. I must say that theme in this track is awesome. That little melody is like from a cartoon. Great idea. 2. Mantik - Longue Deraner Mmmmmmm let's start. Beat says "hello" to everyone. Maximum respect for this kind of "more progressive then techno" sound. The most are like chill out motives and melodies all over the tech & progress beat. Super heat and super bassline. Real disco moving. Somewhere from 2/3 of the track starts a bit more techno style of track and then again chill and ambient pads and melodies. Juicy! I like SFXs and the way that they travel through the theme. For this track I could tell that it is for "Eyes close sway" moments! Great job!!! I understand that for DJs track finishes just like it should, but for a CD and ordinary consumers, end of track should be a bit different and not that suddenly stopped. 3. Alic - Liquid Modernity I can say that it continues in almost the same style as previous track, just a bit more techno and electro style. Really great theme and sound for presentation of that theme and ideas of artists. I'm still in "eyes close sway" moment. If I were a DJ, I would use track like this to chill crowd after euphoric drive. It's the same strategy as in sport, where player set the ball to other one for final kick and getting score. LOL. Maybe it's funny, but I'm experiencing this moment like that. Even a DJ set must have a strategy when combining tracks. And this one is a clue for "get the scoore" on the dancefloor. 4. Sophicos - Ain't Like That I don't know if it is on purpose or random, but this track should be right on this place, after previous, even in DJ set. So much energy and emotions at the same time. The best thing is that I like the most of the instrumens which makes like chill bells sound and fat leads which presents bassline in track. This is the best thing for me in track and this tune contain every element that is a match for my taste. And after this track, I can already say that this is more progressive then techno compilation. I expected total techno, but this is kind of a mixture of Tech & progress! WONDERFUL!!! Really nice to hear that. 5. MidiMiliz - Phenomena (Atmos remix) OK, does somebody want to rip my heart out or what?! Atmos in combination with Midi Miliz!!!??? What's next? Extrawelt vs GMO!!!??? AWESOME!!! Honestly, I don't know which kind of version is better for me. Original or this one. I like Atmos music and also MidiMiliz music so much, and when I heard this combination, it got me on the first second of the track. Tomas put a bit trancy style in this and got very nice product of this tune. So much atmospheric and night music. Thats what I need. Excellent job on this track for sure. 6. The Rockitmen - Overhazed Even Metalogic and Alex made a bit of progress sound with trancy bassline and hard sidechain at the start for this compilation. But as much as the rhythm is techno, everything is ok Kiddin'... I like this sub tones in bassline. It sounds like concrete drill. Just, in my opinion, I think that for this kind of rhythm, they should put some industrial moments, melodies or something. Theme that is in track, is magnificent, just it's that kind of rhythm that makes a confusion with other elements. This is just my opinion. In general, track is great. 7. Metalogic - Picknik HM. This track, I think, is the one I would put as the last one. Kind of an outro of compilation. Many people would think that it would be a bad track if it's outro. This is totally wrong. For me, of the same significance are intro, middle and outro. This track just have that kind of theme and story that, in my opinion, is for outro place. Something like "after all..." 8. Midi Miliz - Stalker (Alic's Liquid Disco remix) GREAT SOUND FOR KICK!!!! And it is a Disco!!! Excellent start of track. Pure pumping in the clubs! Totally fat plastic pipe sound!!! Tiny bells should be a bit less emphatic, everything else is perfect. Excellent track for ending warm up and start jumping! Bassline have imposing sound. Just like kick. Those two elements make the whole track. Really beatiful job! 9. October Rust - It Came from Outer Space This kind of style I like to call "pumping style". I like this kind of rhythm, but I don't like the vocal in this track. I think that vocal can be bettet than this one. Theme is relaxing and nice. For warming at best. I like fat sounds that this project used. 10.Fuzzion - Solar Old school of electro "lets say" bassline, requiuem for my soul I like that sound. Especially with delay from time to time. Theme in the track reminds me on raves from 95-96. Beautiful times Totaly relaxing track. One of the track that have same vibe indoor as much as outdoor parties. Maybe cause of a lot of reverb on sounds. Lots of ambient moments. Nice! The whole compilation as concept have very great vibe and story. There is no declination between tracks. Everything is set like hand in a glove. Also very serious sound. Respect for all artists, Alic and Horns & Hoofs rec. All the best to people and bring us more plastic fantastic
  16. Our next release will be tech trance project Le Saboteur on EP named "Lost". Behind the name Le S4B0T3UR is Joakim Hakansson from Sweden, who earlier produced tracks under the name Dopamin who was released alongside heroes such as X-Dream and Midimiliz on Moonflower Productions. First release as Le S4B0T3UR with the track Sabotage came out on Mechanical Dragon and got great reviews. Joakim has been producing psytrance since 1997 and was discovered by Nephilim Records who released several tracks of his on various compilations together with vinyl EP, other labels that has released Joakim's work are High Society, Nephilim Records, Chackra Delic Rec., ZMA, ZYX, Moonflower productions, Mechanical Dragons. The change to the name Le S4B0T3UR came to the realization because there where too many people on the net and in the electronic music whose names were similar to Dopamin. It was also a way to break free from a mould created with the Dopamin releases; Le S4B0TEUR gives room to more experimentation of IDM influences in the creation of his new music. At the moment he is signed for electronic music label Soundmute Recordings, and if you like dirty and hard music, then Le S4B0T3UR has real tunes for you! 19. VA Chronika Chapter III (Boshke Beats rec) http://www.boshkebeats.com As I always follow up Boshke Beats releases, I also took this one, put in my stereo, and sat back. Play and go! Many good, actually very good names on this CD make my expectation so big. So far, BB never let me down and this time the same thing happened. On my big pleasure. 1. Alic - Underwater Shufflemonster It's about two really great producers from a well-known net label Digital Diamonds as owners. Sound that this project makes is pure style of Boshke Beats concept. From the very first beginning track starts with the sound that older generations could hear in many 2D games. I've spent many years, as a child, in front of many different game consoles, injected with that sound in my head so I can say that I feel some sympathy for that sound. When I hear this sound in some tracks its makes me feel, I don't know, some kind of happiness... In addition, one of most interesting stuff in this song is rhythm, which has kind of two times slower tempo of bassline then kick. Color of bassline is typical electro old school, which is actually really great move from the producers' side. So much of the new technology in electronic music results with so much overacting in arrange of track and colors of sounds that main theme in track easily lose on simplicity and point of story in song/track. This track holds that simplicity and point, which is the most important for my taste. Other elements I don't have to comment too much ‘because they fit in track like a hand in a glove! :-) 2. Midimiliz - The Missing Guest (Tony Rohr Rmx) I don't know why this track sounds so familiar to me but it does. However, from the start of the track, kick and bass draw my attention really hard. Soft bassdrum and deep bassline is the thing that I like the most. Acid theme is great. I like stretching sound of synth. Honestly, in this track I need more hats and rim shoots, shallow percussion that can give the drive to the rhythm and complete the whole pleasure of techno meaning. Everything else is pretty cool. 3. Fuzzin - Free Tibet Oh, now, see, this is not the classic style of this artist, according to his earlier works that I've heard. Elements of this track are actually great. Colors of samples and everything, just dynamic is not that much demonstrated. In one moment, everything goes powerful and suddenly, in my opinion, before it should, some elements that give that dynamic in track turn off and that slow me down. 4. X-Dream - March WOooooooooohohooooooooooooo, I don't need to say anything here especial twice. Everyone who read my review of the new X-Dream EP knows how I feel about this track. X-DREAM - March EP revire by Lara Lately, Extrawelt was on the first place on the top of my artists, but after this release, it shares that place with X-Dream and The Delta, with new album definitely! Actually, in the last 10 years those 4 producers with all of they projects and from release to release, non-stop, change my decision about first place on my top artists list. And thank you for that haha.gif 5. The Rockitmen - Ego Tripping So lets continue in same style of this V/A. A bit of electro breaks can be pretty refreshing. Maybe someone would say that they don't like when artists from compilation sounds similar, and as a matter of fact, I do. You can, kind of, have friendly tracks for DJ set, which is very great. This track is perfect for intro part of DJ set or even for middle of the DJ set, after high light moment, to put you on dancing level and prepare for the next few tracks, which will bring you in next euphoric part. 6. Metalogic - Road Rage With this track, I would like to interlock with the previous track, in compositional way, of course. Very nice club drive. The exchange of the percussions and bassline, with delay stretching on the kick rhythm. I like that moments. Many artists use that kind of tricks, but most of them over force it. 7. Midimiliz - Format Phono (Fuzzion Revizzio) Get back on wild part again. Definetly an excellent track. Fuzzion with this remix, I suppose, corrected impression on me in total!!! Great club energy presented through the sound. Very, very nice electro motives that he used in this track. Makes a pudding on dance floor for sure! UUUH! Perhaps, so far, the best one on this V/A! 8. Triple Distilled Vs Fuzzion - Midnight Circulator (The Delta remix) I can express my enthusiasm ‘cause The Delta's back on tech scene! This is the rhythm that I prefer the most haha.gif Beside the rhythm, which is the most important thing for me in track, pads that I hear in this song have very nice emotional drive. Sample-like guitar distortion freaks me out in totally positive way. This is the one of my favorite on the new album. Can I say that I can't wait for the new album to come out! haha.gif 9. Fuzzion - Frog On The Run (Extrawelt's Remix) DISCO!!! Excellent for warm up and preparation for blasting DJ set! Purely erotic on the dance floor. The biggest impression on me, in this track, leaves the synth that sounds like playing on metal pipe. I can't remember if it's the sound from original mix or remixed version melody, but this is one of the best part in this track. 10. Jurek Przezdziecki - My Bass Friend Bass is my friend too haha.gif So, from the very beginning we have something in common. Cool! Relaxing express of electro and techno put in one unit. This track is more like home edition. Of course, that can be played in club, but for my taste, this is the kind of music I prefer to listen at home. I saw that this artist prepares to release EP for Boshke Beats and I'm so interested to hear what he has to present. According to this track, I think I'm pretty curious. 11. Glimmertitz - Now Or Nunca This one is totally outro track. Moreover, in the right place on the V/A. Amazing night theme filled with lots of reverb. I totally like its bassline, which is more in background of track with part to hold rest of elements on surface of this track. No matter what, this track has the potential for club drive, and I like when artist strictly holds this kind of ambient form with lots of electro motives and break beats. Home edition too, which I appreciate so much to hear on V/A. I am positively sure that we have here one really nice club release and that most of this track should be in DJ sets of any steady techno DJ. Also, big plus that here we have promotion of upcoming and previous releases and the fact that we have 11 tracks on compilation which is really generous of the publisher. I really enjoy in this one and now please excuse me i will put this on repeat for a while. Good night and sleep tight winks.gif Lara http://www.soundmute.org http://www.soundmute-recordings.com
  20. The project Manibus represents well known DJ and producer Nikola Vujnovic, who is also in the well-known project Prosper. This young man, but old producer, comes to the electronic music scene in the ‘90s, and has been with us for 7 years with his own organization STS Music. Having many releases under the Prosper and Manibus name, for various world labels like Etnica.net, YSE, Exposure Production, ZMA, Joof, Turbotrance, Ultragroove, Starsound, Liquid & Solid, etc, he has justified his qualities live in front of the audience on many domestic and abroad performances. For years, greater concentration has been on the Prosper project, but certainly did not prevail and Manibus, after longer absence, returns to the scene in full shine. Not much altered style, but certainly with much better sound, Manibus offers us an extraordinary combination of techno elements and trance essence, all packed nicely in an Extended Play (EP) version of the release for Soundmute Recordings, named “Distorted Roads”. The release is due to come out on JunoDownload and BeatPort, as well on the online shop of the label. Artist ....... Manibus Title ........ Distorted Roads Genre ........ Techno Trance Source ....... 22. Artist: VA Album: Goa Times Label: Shivlink Records Catalog: SLRCD006 Expected release date: 27th June, 2008 Tracklist: 1. Afgin - Amanita 2. Etnica - Vimana 3. Liquid Flow - Moderate Stimulation 4. Cosmosis - Gift Of The Gods 5. Astrancer - Namaskara Mudra 6. Chakra & Edi Mis - Final Mission 7. Goasia - Paranormal Experience 8. ManMadeMan - Athalon 9. Holyman - The Last Universe ( End All rmx) Release notes: 'Goa times - Now and Then' is a compilation, which illustrates the old supernal melodies and... sounds, which were spiritual, psychedelic and mystical. It revives those melodies, which are no longer prevalent in the energy released by psychedelic aspect of trance today. Although the conception remains the same, the sonic waves that unite the body and soul today are popularly termed 'New age'. It's quite clear today that the trip still has the same destination, but the traveler has evolved in terms of space and time. Goa Times features tracks from both ends of the spectrum - Modern day epics as well as parables of the late 90's. They say, 'If Old was so gold - the sound of Goa wouldnit be a personal distinction'. We say 'Old is gold and Goa remains gilded'. Goa Times - Now And Then, it's your decision. http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/slc/slc1cd006.html http://www.shivlinkrecords.com
  23. X-Dream - "March" EP 12" Boshke Beats records http://www.boshkebeats.com Since the first time I heard the samples of this release on Boshke Beats web, I waited so much for it to come out, take a sit and listen to the whole release. A few days ago, I got a vinyl form one of my friends from Japan and I started to listen. Here is what it feels like... From the very beginning, I respect X-Dream as artists so much. The change of so many different styles in music and few times starting a revolution in electronic music. Therefore, this time, again, something that presents X-Dream sound, but in a new way. 1. March Warm start of a kick and the silent dirty sound in background imply on a new fresh progressive techno sound that we can hear lately. Electro motives come easy and in the finest way, and then full bass pleasure start. The track goes, but from the very first beginning, the listener knows that it will have hard and deep sub ground kicking moments Somewhere after 2 minutes, Marcus and Jan wake up the listeners and still slowly, but knowingly break the limits off every sounds system. The moment I felt those sweet chills all over my skin is the moment when bassline change note on octave and suddenly goes through the filter down in low cut and go out like from the basement. Creepy noise that sound like some kind of a synth which is slow at last few notes, give the best power drive to the whole theme in track. Oscillation on the pad that presents the bassline also has big part in track. It actually makes the drive of a bassline, like big wave which non-stop go forward and announces that moving. Something like a side chain. In every direction, this track deserves to win a price for one of the greatest club monsters in 2008, for now! 10/10 2. Building number 7 Hah the name of the track inspire me, I must admit before I say anything else. Late, I realized that sound is totally fit in the track theme. I trip like that. Does not mean that the rest will trip the same thing. So let us go back on sound, vinyl gives the special one in that case, and many more of course. Even if I don't read who wrote and produced this track I would know that Jan had much influence on this track. Electro sound is more his style in producing music. In addition, electro vocals fit in this track so so so so good!!! Especially the part where word "seven" repeat separated from the rest of the channels in track. Very much like that kind of old computer sound, like old analogue machines, hand made So many bells sounds that contain the highest tones inside. Melody in track is also totally electro and fits in every part of the song. It reminds me on Kraftwerk but style that is much more modern. The most interesting thing in this track is that, many DJs sort music by tracks for start, tracks for middle of the set and tracks for the end, I'm not a DJ, but in my opinion this track can fit in every part of a set. That is what I appreciate in tracks. 8.5/10 3. Outfield SUBWAY!!! The first thing that I have on my mind since the track start! At the moment, I start to image the frames of a potential video for this track. Sound that represent bassline is so hardly delayed. Marcus school, no doubt Bell that came up from the darkness of a tunnel sounds amazing. Everything fits in its place!!! Ambient sfx put whole atmosphere into a feeling like in a real subway. I must hear this track on my next ride in the sub This track needs walls to be the right thing. Club, more then open air. However, as a whole this release, it have lots of element for open air location too. But, it has to be at night!!! Fantastic track, just too short as the first one. I like long entrances and epilogues. Actually, I like long track themes. But, this is fantastic also! 9/10 Conclusion: So refreshing! The best thing is that it fits in sets from minimal and progressive techno to tech trance DJ sets. BPM rate is phenomenal. In the right place. Moreover, as I said above, it have lots of element for open air locations as well. That is very valuable to me. I rate tracks based on my taste on this release, but the whole release is rate 10/10 Thank You so much X-Dream and Boshke Beats! Lara http://www.soundmute.org http://www.soundmute-recordings.com
