This is not just a square wave form, right?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was listening to Koxbox - Too pure (starting from 5'53") where there is a synth or sort of bass that sounds a little bit like a square wave form, but it sound like it has more harmonics...The same sound is used by MFG on their Overload tune (starting from 0':13"). It looks like it's a square wave with high resonance but what else to make it sound like it? Any idea what kind of wave form this is, and how to recreate it on a vintage synth?

Thanks,

Probably a pulse wave, not a pure square wave (50% duty cycle), with moderate to high resonance, not really high. One oscillator. It's nothing really complicated, but depends on the right sounding oscillator and filter, and a sweet spot of resonance, filter cutoff and envelope settings.
