Q: Can you talk to me about your musical background. When did you start producing electronic music, and what inspired you to start dealing with the genre.

A: I had started producing electronic music in 1989 at the end of the industrial scene, where I had several tapes of early techno acid produced and sold in limited edition at a club I used to work as a DJ At the beginning of '93 me and a friend, also a musician had an idea to start and produce acid & trance for cd compilations and to sell tracks for vynil companies such as "Labwerks", Germany. I was influenced by Cabaret Voltaire, Coil & Clock DVA in the beginning of my music. I was considered the first Israeli who produced Trance music in Israel. My works were recorded to famous DJ's around the scene who played my trax in Full Moon parties in India. You can check my site for all the work which was coming out then: www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/1813 I am searching now for new fresh sounds which will lead to new dimensions in the electronic music.

Q: California Sunshine has now released 5 great albums. The last one, 'Wonderland', made me feel was a fusion of old CS stuff and new, more club oriented music. Do you project to release a new album , and if so what style will you be looking to manifest?

A: Right now I don't work with my partner to California Sunshine. I am working now on an album which is supposed to be a new style of sounds and different from the California series. More nightish melodies and dawn sounds much more acidic, I assume.

Q: I also beleive you are collaborating with Dardasm to produce an album together. Can you talk more about this project.

A: Well, a few tracks were recorded under Har-ell & Dardasman. However I am working now on a new project under the title "Brainflower" (Har-ell P. & G.F.H.). I have no intention at the moment of working with Dardasman, this was just an experimental project.

Q: Which of your albums/tracks do you have a special feeling for? And which other artists styles are amongst your favourites, in your personal taste, Israel and worldwide?

A: I think that "Summer '89" from the first California Sunshine was my favorite because everyone here and around the world loved that tune. It was also, as you must know, on a Paul Oakenfold 12" on Perfecto. Also the track "Wonderland" which was one of the first goa acid track because of the minimal and strong atmosphere and had a unique sound. The sound of Wonderland was 5 years ahead of its time compare to other artists back then. I also think that "Alala" was a massive hit in Israel and Goa Full Moons along with all the other trax I made. But the style is changing, the melodies are deeper and the groove is deeper too. The album I have the most feeling for is "Nasha" which I believe its concept was the best and it was the most complex of all the others in the series.

Q: California Sunshine;- For most trancers this is melodic and emotional music, and the very essence of goa. The sun shines in the music- Is this the aim in your musical style?

A: This aim was in California Sunshine. Now my aim is changing as I said before, more deep melodies , dark sounds and stronger grooves together with some morning sounds.

Q: Where and when was your best party?

A: The best party I played in was in Australia, Japan & Mexico. Those parties were Full Moon and outdoor , very very nice people too!

Q: Do you feel that commercialisation of trance is a good way of keeping the authorities out and at the same time bringing in more income for artists/labels, or will the movement always be 'underground'?

A: I think it is becoming bigger right now, especially in the U.S.A but compared to material such as on MTV or the House scene it still quite underground, to my regret.

Q: Being one of the veterans and pioneers in the scene, how do you feel about the progression of electronic music, in israel and the world, now and beyond?!

A: I think it is becoming as big as rock with great potential of becoming bigger, I hope!!!
