Review:

Acidance are a new label out of Greece. This is their first compilation and its

great full-on stuff. The whole album has a certain sound to it which I really

like. Logic Bomb provide yet another quality track. Light and bouncy effects.

The second track has a nice bassline and is a good simple thumper. The

Parasense track is good. Neuromotor (track 5) are one to watch for sure. Every

track I hear from them is good. This one is hard and heavy, a heavy-duty track

capable of filling up a dance floor quickly. It's been a while since I heard

any Xenomorph and this track is not so dark as the stuff from 'Cassandra's

Nightmare'. It stands out as one of the better tracks here. Track 7 is a bit

of a sonic barrage, not so good. Track 8 is good. Aerodance finish up the disc

with a really good track with some catchy melodies. One sounds like a nintendo

game, reminds me of banjo-kazooie, but its one of the best tracks here. I can

highly recommend this release. Very impressive. Most tracks are really very

good. This is no minimal, or tech-trance or something, it's true psychedelic

trance for the night.

Drugs Therapy...Acid Dance...Hmmm, nicey nicey now...but in essence this is 1

of those progressive 3d vision style compils that is currently flooding the

market...Less minimalistic, return of the melody, loatsa progressive elements

& pretty fast...Although probably very fashionable, I can't help feeling a bit

overdosed 'cause most trax tend to be a tad samey. Only the never

disappointing Logic Bomb and the revenge of Aerodance after their draconian

track on Electric Ohms are committing a stylebreak (read slower and more

variation) and are therefore the best trax inhere. If taken in small doses the

other trax are listenable but sensational ... not in my book 6/10

I've given this album quite a many listen-throughs as I feel that I should love

it. Can't help it: I don't.

It starts of with somewhat lame Logic Bomb -track. Level of psychedelia is

quite high on this one, but I feel it has no flow or direction to it, and ends

up being just boring. Compared to, say, their album or more recently the track

"Glitter" on Dimitri's dat bag, this is sub-par.

Then comes a tune by ninja traxx, fast and hard-kicking but that's about it.

This is the only track I've heard from them, so can't really compare to

anything.

Track 3 is Labyrinth's Imprint. I absolutely hate this poor tune, it sounds so

basic and uninspiring that it makes me sick. Yuck yuck, definitely 'not my

cuppa'.

Ok, from this point, the album gets a lot better (for a short while anyway).

Parasense's Microwave has lots and lots of groove to it, pumping night-time

stuff with just enough twists and turns to keep your mind occupied. Excellent.

And the it's time for the absolute gem of this compilation. It seems that

Neuromotor is unable to make a bad track, and this one makes no exception. It

starts of great and ends up even better. I'm not particularly keen on the

samples at around 8 minutes but they don't ruin anything. One fantastic

stomper, ALMOST worth buying the whole album.

Back to misery, then. Xenomorph -track is veeery bad, basic 'thirteen in a

dozen' -kind of tune. Nothing more to say.

Track 7 by Fungus Funk is one of the better ones but still nothing to gaga

over, nice beat and weird sounds. Listenable.

Number 8 and what can I say. Nice(y) but not excellent nor even very good. I

guess you shouldn't listen through the whole album at once, as it is likely

start sound very repetitive.

BUT: Aerodance's track is an odd and wonderful ending! I'm sure certain people

will find it cheesy and silly, and in a way it is, but I can't help loving it

to bits! Just the kind of stuff to put a WIDE smile on your face! It's made

stranger still by the fact that a part of the melody is exactly the same as in

Finnish song 'Kuusamo'. Somehow this doesn't sound traditional at all, it's

more of a groovy experimentation, or at least I see it that way. G O O D !

So, I give this album 6/10, but sometimes it's 7/10, depends a bit on your

mood. A couple of great tunes and a bunch of dullies. 'nuff said.

Acidance take the 3D Vision/TIP World rough full on style to the extreme- want

a genre name? Chaotic trance will do?

Logic Bomb start the mess (in the positive meaning of it) with a happy jumpy

tune with great opening, that just hooked me up. It's a real energetic one,

will make you jump around, and definitely makes me smile. Ninja Traxx follow

with Compromise Yourself (T2), and immediately you understand it's serious

business time, an overpacked dark piece with a dark massive kick, a lot of

percussion work, rhythm changes, plus lots of crazy noises everywhere. Good

drive, but a bit too much at times. Labyrinth (Mark Xenomorph and a friend)

with yet another track called Imprint (T3) calm things down a bit. A more open

sound with more space, all in a dark heavy atmosphere filled with an infinity

of electronic crickets. A bit too much on the highs. Nothing special. The

first sign of Parasense activity comes with Microwave (T4), a real cute track,

happy and bouncy, with a lot of surprising shifts and deformed sounds. First

Parasense track I really like, just wish they'll drop that hollow kick.

Nuromotor with a first track out of his new album to be released soon on

Acidance. Dunno what's with the name, but the track is a crazy stormer with

the French full on touch topped with tons (literally) of flying sounds. Crazy

for the sake of crazyness, to the point when the story is lost. Heard other

stuff by this guy, which I guess will be on the album and which I found much

more appealing. Than it's Xenomorph again, on his own, with murder intentions,

as usual. My drawing to dark black murderous stuff ended with Black Sabbath &

some gothic stuff long long time ago. Didn't like the music really either.

Fungus Funk is another new talent from mother Russia, and Space Things Are on

the Move (T7) is a real refreshing piece of music- fast happy bounce, full of

scratches from outer space, and totally distorted semi-melodic sounds. It all

sits very nice together. Great. BUT... Mr. Funk- slow down, and work hard on

your sound. An older name- Domi Pastor together with Earthling from the GMS

gang follow (T8 ). Not an extraordinary track, but the rhythm section is just

gripping. For work on the floor in the morning. Aerodance end the CD with

another cover version to an old melodic song, this time a French pop tune, the

name of which eludes my mind. Cute, especially the applause to Jaques Brel. A

very well done trance cover, much better than their Russian folk songs ones,

but I still prefer original melodies.

Bottom Line: Chaotic psytrance with no remorse, some really good refreshing

tracks, some fillers (as always these days). A harder hand on the sound

department would be nice. Favorites: 1, 2, 4, 7, 9.

neuromotor makes the girls wet and the boys hard and monkeys everywhere tweak

tweak tweak knobs all the way round. i played this one at the end of my set

last friday and the crowd got laryngitis and i cried tears of pure joy. the

send it back sample is barley ok, fade out w/ 2:30 remaining... and the rest

of the comp aint bad either.
