Artist: Cabeiri Album: Self Insider Label: Altar Records Genre: Progressive PsyChill, PsyChill, Downtempo, Chillgressive 1.The Great Ocean - 07:03 2.The Bacchae - 07:03 3.Unknown Sources - 10:38 4.Matter's Morphology - 09:20 5.Night's Lair - 6:46 6.The Mythical Horse - 08:00 7.Self Insider - 07:23 8.Nothing to Fear - 07:58 9.Elliptical Orbit - 08:28 10.Eliconiades - 08:25 Three years after their album ''Inner Thought'', Cabeiri returns with their second album ''Self Insider''. Keeping the same soul of their previous work, the brothers duo Nickolas and Dimitris Vavalos offers a collection of tracks proposing a heavenly mood and deep dark downtempo groove. This time, the beat goes around 125 bpm! The result is an original twilight progressive chill ablum perfect to put the dancefloor on fire as much during the day as it does at night. Way more intense than we are used to hear from Cabeiri, this album is still profound, mystic and melodic. In a perfect mastery of light and shadow, ''Self Insider'' travels through a whole range of feeling and emotion. Really grounded in a warm bass spectrum, the listener is also invited to enter in to celestial layers of textures. The strength of the entire ablum is in how it brings the listener to experience the nighttime of the consciousness while keeping them in an epic adventure... Epic! This is a great word to descripe the album. Inspired by the Greek mythologies, the tracks exude the chant of the muses and of the gods. It's as if one is always feeling a heroic story unfolding in front of them. Track to track, we hear a mystical background chant leading the way as if a ritual was preparing. Like in ''The Bacchae'', in which a mythical lament develops a strange feeling of peace intertwined with sorrow. Or in ''Mythical Horse'', where a a crystaline femine voice shares the space with multi-layered spectra of warm bass and kicks. Or with ''The Great Ocean'', a sweet heartfelt ballad. Furthermore, this album develops a cohesive strucutre of profound enigmatic sounds while creating a floating structure that brings the listener up to the sky. As in ''Elliptical Orbit'', a slow progression in which darkish tones open the way to melodic and airy harmony. Or the track ''Nothing to Fear'', a deep journey through a psychedelic soundscape. In short, with ''Self Insider'', the Cabeiri brothers deliver again an original collection of tracks. Like no one else, they suceed to fuse deep dark downtempo vibrations with twilight construction. The first time that I listened to the album, I was not sure. A weird feeling of confusion trapped me. I was expecting an album in the same structure of their first ablum ''Inner Thought''. After a few tries, I let go of my expectations and really discovered the universe of this new album. I found it was a perfect compliment to ''Inner Thought'', but in a completely original way. Once again, Cabeiri has the merit to keep the soul of their music project going while developing it in an unexpecting dimension. Artist: Astropilot Album: Iriy Label: Altar Records Genre: Progressive Psy-chill, Psy-chill, Downtempo, Ambiant 1.Gamayun – 11:35 2.The last nigth of Svarog – 11:29 3.Svarog's Morning – 9:27 4.Rod – 9:31 5.Makosh – 7:19 6.Svar-ga – 8:27 7.Veda (feat. Mikrokosmos) – 10:16 8.Back to Midgard-Earth – 12:56 Each time that I listen to a new Astropilot album, I always have the same reaction: ''Cheezzz … I did not know that he could create this kind of music.'' Album after album, Astropilot offers new unexpected ambiance in completely different universes. For me, he is one of the most diversified and original psychill artists. It is really hard to define Astropilot's genre. Offering a collection of tracks in which we find much space, and ambiance as deep shamanic trance tunes, not to mention a whole bunch of progressive and fast 4/4 kick structure tracks. Each album allows us to see a new surprising face from this artist. With ''Iriy'', it is in a deep trance adventure that we are invited. Each track proposes profound bass lines and groovy 4/4 kicks. It is dancy, but so floaty at the same time. Really intense, but smoochy on the other hand. The sound and the bass hits you in the chest while the shining melody opens your mouth and shows your teeth; a continuous presence of background choir, thus giving a heavenly feeling while keeping moving vibration. Overhall, each track proposes complex progressive structure that develops surprinsingly. As a dj, this album is becoming one of my masterpieces when I mix a deep trance set. Follow Iriy and enter in the dance with your heart opened and your eyes closed! ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: – Gamayun – ''Gamayun'' opens the album really well. Three minutes of etherical and spacy introduction, offered within deep seated vibration. Slowly, the kick shows its nose in natural continuity with the begining. At six minutes everything begins … 4/4 beat structure, smooth background of airy voices and simple melody … beautiful progression. – The Last Night of Svarog – In an intimate ambiance, a track that develops in a pure simplicity. Everything moves, progresses, changes, but at the same time still in the same universe. A surprising deep track that brings you close to the dream. – Svarog's Morning – If the last tune prepared the listener to visit Morpheus, ''Svarog's Morning'' unfolds the daylight. Crystalline sounds intertwined with etherical and shining melody that has chapters of variety and flows well from segment to segment with good development. – Rod -- ''Rod'' is a hypnotical track that develops slowly a gentle melody. In the middle, a crash … everything collapses, to rebirth from the ashes. Heavenly choir accompagnies the journey of the simple but efficient notes. – Makosh – Such a beautiful track... No kick, no dancefloor. Beautiful introdution that recalls the crystaline universe of Icelandic musicians Bjork in her ''Vespertine'' period, Sigur Ros or even Jonsi. Soft bass line appears, you close your eyes and let yourself go in this introspective starlit universe. – Svar-ga – Celestial chants, sparkling sounds, rolling double kick… there we go! Complex tune with multi-layered spectra of warm bass and kick, micro-melodies and tonal motifs enveloped by organic rhythms and divine choir. The best track of the album. – Veda – This track compliments the album's cohesive feel. Less dancy, but still really grounded in a warm bass spectrum. This tune develops unexpected chapters of melody, bringing delicate lines of organic instruments with shining electronic texture. – Back to Midgard – The last track, the last moment to dance. ''Back to Midgard'' surrounds the listener in a deep groovy double kick intertwined with heavenly textures. It is a non-stop building of harmonic soundcape that brings the dance floor in a beautiful daydreaming! Artist: Alwoods Album: Long Life Forest Label: Altar Records Genre: Progressive Psy-chill, Chillgressive Rain of Shooting Stars 110 bpm Spacequake 112 bpm Open Mind 115 bpm Space Radio Station 115 bpm Shadow of the Moon 125 bpm Enchanted Clearing 128 bpm Long Life Forest 115 bpm We Are Modern Shamans 115 bpm John Rigas (aka Alwoods) launches another bomb with Long Life Forest. As with his first masterpiece Aeolian Mode, this second album stays in the same progressive psychill universe : thick bass lines and a floating ambiance accompanied by a unique, strong, kick signature. Each tune offers deep seated vibrations while maintaining intense beats that set the dance floor on fire. Compared to Aeolian Mode, Long Life Forest is more grounded on the goa side of trance. Organic slithering and gloomy sounds, darkish shamanik feelings and, let's say, a less melodic structure then we are used to hearing with Alwoods. It is perhaps less melodic in one way, but it invites the listener to delve into the deepest layers of his consciousness. Long Life Forest proposes a shamanic experience. The entire track's flow creates a connection with our inner wildnerness and the night time of our soul. If these kind of moments are generally rejected because of their association with uncontrolled and unstructured pieces of our being, we can however see these experiences as possibilities to visit the unknown spaces that we usually avoid. Here, the tunes proposed by Alwoods are not organized around melodies that lead and accompany the listner from begining to end in logical sequence. Each track offers fractal moments in which our logic has to deal with sounds that don’t seem naturally linked to each other. Here is the essence of shamanism : it is all about reorganizing normal perceptions, jumping off the beaten path and leaving behind what’s taken for granted. Overall, it is letting ourselves leap into the unknown, away from our habits and our comfort zone, and allowing ourselves to reach something burried or not totally in place yet. If Long Life Forest is not as melodic as the other Alwoods's projects, the listener has a whole universe to experience through the adventure. More than just an album to listen to, it is an album to live. Light a candle and focus on the flame. When you will be totally immersed in this pure and paradoxical moment of simple creation and destruction, press play on your sound system and open the doors of perception! Artist: Suduaya Album: Unity Label: Altar Records Genre: Downtempo, Psychill, Progressive Psychill 1.Suduaya & Irina Mikhailova – Sweetness 89BPM 2.By the Rain & Suduaya – Silent Awereness 88BPM 3.Zero Cult – Heartwork (Suduaya remix) 100 BPM 4.Unity 105 BPM 5.Green Beats – 80's Technology (Suduaya remix) 124 BPM 6.All is full of Light 93 BPM 7.Cabeiri – Voyager (Suduaya remix) 80 BPM 8.Empty your Mind (Feat. Amin) 81 BPM Unity is the new downtempo project from Suduaya. Since 2010, he already made two others albums, some EP and collaborations and one compilation. More over, he has been touring the world with his guitar to play live in the biggest and most famous festivals. The perfect words to describe Unity are light and intense. It is a morning downtempo album, but with deep presence of bass texture. This union between ethereal trancy texture with inviting deep seated vibrations is delicious. With or without a 4/4 beat structure, each track offers a cohesive, heart-moving feeling while at the same time keeping the intense frequencies grounded; it floats, really high, and simultaneously our legs feel gravity and stay on the ground. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::ॐ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I said the first words that comes in my mind were light and intense. ''Unity'' presents a bunch of luminous different tracks, all unique from each other. ''Sweetness'', in collaboration with Irina Mikhailova, introduce this shining intention right at the outset of the album really well. Floating guitar and crystalline/mushy sounds intertwined in a deep, smooth bass line, all lead by the mystic voice of Irina. Same thing with ''Silent Awareness'', but in proposing more intensity throughout the bass line. It's an original track that has diverse chapters and they flow well from segment to segment with good development and progression, smoothly introducing gentle sounds of guitars and keyboards sprinkled here and there. The track develops more intensity while keeping it's shining structure. Enigmatic chant and guitar lead the way until the middle when aggressive slow kick and vibrations appear. Aggressive kick and bass line—we have to remember that Suduaya is also steeped in the progressive trance tradition. Track like ''80's Technology'', a remix from Green Beats, present this face. It is a hypnotic progressive tune running at 125 bpm and offers a psychedelic structure intertwined with piano and guitar sounds. On their side, ''Heartwork'' and Unity, while proposing this progressive trance structure, remain in the downtempo ambiance. ''Unity'' ... such an awesome track! Starting aggressively with a deep kick accompanied with loud bass frequencies. The more the track progresses the more you feel an intense feeling of light subsumes the universe. Light, light, light and then comes the masterpiece: ''All is Full of Light''—a constant evolution up to the heavens! At each step you think that the climax is reached, that you cannot go further in the movement. But the next part brings another layer, and then again and again. ''The light is all around you''—these simple lyrics lead the way until the end. The album finishes with two deeper tracks: ''Voyager'', a remix from Cabeiri, and ''Empty your Mind'', a collaboration with Amin. The remix of ''Voyager'' is not really different from the original one; same structure, same ambiance but Suduaya brings his guitar touch, which allows the track to travel higher in the space. Finally, ''Empty your Mind'' can recall the universe of ''Silent Awareness''. Same airy downtempo vibrations, original evolution and crystalline sounds. But if ''Silent Awareness'' is more yin, ''Empty your Mind'' is more yang, deeply rooted in a deep shamanik ambiance lead by a male chant. Awesome album ending! :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::ॐ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Unity builds an original way to present a downtempo album. It is a beautiful combination of mysticism and grounded construction, not to mention awesome home made guitar lines signed by Suduaya. The light is everywhere in this album … Airy feeling, soul-moving atmosphere … A big smile to the universe! A must have in your discography.
