Oh yeah, this was cool. I listened to those album some years ago.Oh wait. Somehow I forgot to mention Jazzmatazz. Hehe. Guru at it again.
His work with DJ Premier is nice too. I remember how Gang Starr had really awesome productions, and how Premier would always make the chorus by scratching various samples together!
As for jazz hop, never heard I'm afraid.

Due to my musical preferences, first and foremost, I would strongly suggest:
Classics (1995) (R & S Records) this is in my ears the best music RDJ ever recorded; so raw, powerful and tongue in cheek. Warehouse mayhem!

Overall, I am not a big fan though. I really like his old tunes, but the stuff most people seem to dig and recommend is not along the lines of what I like at all.

The Mission, score by Ennio Morricone. His music for C'era una volta il west doesn't fall far behind either.
The Godfather, score by Nino Rota
The Day The Earth Stood Still, and its fabulous theme, by the unbeatable Bernard Herrman. Other favorites of his are Taxi Driver and Psycho.
Pulp Fiction, not an original score per se, but overall it is an fantastic listen through and through.
I remember how Apocalypse Now was a hit and miss soundtrack, but some segments and compositions were so futuristic and far reaching, a really thought provoking blend of classic instruments and back then advanced electronics.

Alessandro Baricco- "Castelli di rabbia"
Fine novel. Well thought out, written with skill and a clear sense of direction. Nothing revolutionary, just plain ol' novel writting done the good way. Damn, I missed that!

Every time I put this CD on I feel kind of glad for never making an adequate transition to any new school/modern psy trance.
My opinion is that "Tetrahedron" would make a fair 90% of my post 1999 psy trance purchases seem redundant. That is how good I consider it to be.
No offense meant to anybody, naturally, but I seriously lack vocabulary and ideas to shape a more insightful and competent review.
There is so much quality squeezed here I don't hold it's necessary to emphasize what's so great about this release. However, Pentagon, Classic Process and No More Singles rank among the best pieces of psychedelic trance I have ever heard. Pentagon is such a furious avalanche of melodies and acid synths it drives me nuts time after time. Classic Process has the most insane breaks I've heard in the genre, with an out of this world climax, while the closing track tells a thousand stories in just ten minutes.
The rest doesn't fall far behind, but the three tracks I listed above are stone cold classics in my book, well worth being added to your Crop Circles legacy!
Overall, the album is rhythmically well structured, the layering is thick, the melodies are dense and complex, and even when the music avoids relying on massive climaxes, the impressive vault of sound effects used are bound to send your frame orbiting around the planet. Great achievement.

All you irrelevant and, well, for other psynews users insignificant taste issues put aside, I don't see how a topic called "I don't like Koxbox" could possibly give birth to useful responses, constructive comments and similar statements.I tried to get some useful response from you guys but it seems you can only try to justify yourself or say I'm wrong, rather than discuss why we differ.
This entire topic was created with a clear intent to start a flame war. Which is, may I add, relatively cool.

Anyways, my favorite mixed psy trance orientated release is Suzuki's Deck Wizards - Core, for having a well thought out and arranged track selection. It may not be a stone cold classic, but then again I have never heard a psy/goa trance DJ mix I'd deem a classic... Some of those Distance to Goa CDs were cool, but nothing but nothing I'd cry over if they got stolen, or broken.

). Hard to deny that Posford and Trevor made an outstanding track, but my god, that is one hell of a rip off! -
Vertige (Paradiso Mix), Kalimba, Replicants, Flirt Filter and Lokayatikas are a few Asia 2001 tracks I remember really liking. Other then that, I have to admit I consider him to be one of the corniest goa trance producers I've had the chance to listen to.
No more than two chance worthy tracks per album. There you have it.

Life time fan here as well! I grew up on his movies. Predator, Terminator 1 and 2, Last Action Hero, Total Recall, True Lies, Red Heat, Collateral Damage... Some of my action favorites!
Truth be said, I always fancy a two hour session in front of the TV if there's a movie starring him, regardless of how many times have I seen it before. I guess that means I like him, a lot.
I don't consider him a good or serious actor, but I appreciate his strong charisma, and above all the fact he doesn't take himself too seriously either, alla Daniel Day Lewis or Kevin Costner...

I just wanted to contribute a little. If you liked the above youtube link, then you dig the more off-beat techno sound. Artists which drop music in the similar vein are Oscar Mulero (he's often associated with Surgeon, an influence is obvious), the more progressive side of Cristian Vogel, and especially the 'drop dead revive yourself with a defillibrator and then drop dead again' British Murder Boys project. Check out James Ruskin's last year's "The dash" album, I found it really mature despite not being the typical 4/4.this was fantastic

Other then that, a really fast & furious, maximal techno label of today which I find relatively interesting and a tad above the rest is ARMS ( http://www.discogs.com/label/ARMS ). Far from that all of their stuff is good, but some of it is awesome party material.
I'll let you know if I get some more interesting ideas with time.

I am not familiar with the videos you guys posted, but as far as music videos go, this one really slapped a smile on my face back then. In fact, to this present day, I much prefer the video to the track Plastique than the music on its own...
And then of course, one of my all time favorites, and one of the first pieces of electronic music I've ever heard (or seen?). D-Shake...

Oh yeah, so true, MWNN really has a golden touch. He always adds some more spice to tracks, maintains the original's feel while adding his own trademark sound! He is a fine remixer.Man With No Name by faaaarrrr. Everything he remixed is pure gold.

For me a whole night is maybe also overdoing it.. but at parties here they usually mix genres a bit up so it will not be going all night! And of course there are the usual problems with boring DJs but... a lot of psychedelic is to be found and heard, and for sure it might "disappear" again (like all techno/electronica sub genres) but it has been quite "the thing" for a while, and I feel I have heard a lot worse than this.. I'm mean jumpstyle and speedcore has been crap from the beginning
I was just using a dumb metaphor, luckily in Zagreb it is impossible to stay out all night and be exposed to jumpstyle/speedcore, and I really don't want to imagine such a scene.
Naturally I have attended a few good minimal parties (more bad experiences than good ones though), but my point is that I just find that stuff not engaging enough. That's all!

I voted The Z Principle. Those laser gun effects get me time after time. Overall, it is a very powerful track, and I listen to quite a lot, which can't really be said about the rest of that album...

I know this is not a constructive opinion, and some people might put me down for being so direct and bold, but I think this whole neo trance movement is really boring.
I have been into electronic music long enough to have witnessed the demise and birth of many styles, genres and trends, but this has to be the worst I've heard yet. If I remember correctly, while a youth, I used to have more respect for speedcore and jumpstyle back when that was relatively fashionable, but this is just so disengaging I can't imagine going to a party where this stuff would be played for the whole night.
Not that I mean disrespect to anybody, I just cannot relate to this music at all.
