  1. Oh yes, Cosmosis!!! And Saafi Brothers reminded me somehow on the Space Safari album Soul, I need to add that too. Thanks for bringing that stuff up.

I also prefere tripping outside. My plan is to get up really early in the morning, walk to a hill near my home, watch the sunrise over the alps and then go for that walk and listen to a lot of music. So much stuff to see on that walk, going besides the river, through the woods and so on. Can't wait... :P

Sounds idyllic!! I want to be there....

  2. lordy lordy, music to trip with ....Hmm, well, if all things went to plan i`d have a variety of trance, hiphop and hawkwind oh and primal scream..

but knowing me, i`d forget my music, like i do my toys and wander orf and look at pretty sparkly things.....

But, if i remember, then i`d take Cosmosis for def....and IM....and Etnica...then i`d want pretty music so i`d have to take Doof and Saafi Brothers... along with all my other music!!

I love tripping in the moonlight!! its magical.... not indoors tho!! not nice at all!!

  3. Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks. Perhaps my most anticipated live event of the year has just been cancelled. :( Raja Ram doesn't want to play in Brixton Academy and theyve already booked it, so they're not going to be doing Shpongle Live anymore :(

    From Shpongle's myspace page:

Still the possibility of a younger brother launch party with OTT live is pretty damn good (in fact, it's pretty damn amazing  ), as is the confirmation of Shpongle 4. Can't help but to feel disappointed though, I was looking forward to this SO much :(

Sounds like IM disease...(too big for their boots  )

  4. Unlike the D&B scene where top DJs (at least when I've seen them) play the same track twice in a row just because they can't mix :P

And i thought D&B was just one looooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggg track! :D
  5. Alice played an amazing set at cabbage! I know what mean thou janet, if I ever get the chance to play at cabbage/Kulu or Fat Moon I will be mixing it up new & old goa/psy trance if not the older stuff (as I find it has more energy to me) ;)

Talking of Cabbage, are you going this weekend? :D

Yep, i should be there, front of the dancefloor on the left...as always!!! :D

Mr OOOD himself is playin isnt he????

  6. Everyone is influenced by someone....I don`t mind sound-a-likes so long as the music is good...

I love Rastaliens and don`t care if they sound like anyone else or not.....

IM are the first thing a lot of trancers heard first as its what i call `easy listening` so, of course its easy to mimic....

besides, if it fills the dancefloor, what does it matter...

Eskimo sounds like Astrix...Fills dancefloors tho... :P

(off topic-ish.....Trivium sound like Metallica should sound!!!)

  7. Do you mean hearing a tune twice on the same evening?

On the same evening I actually wouldn't want to hear any tune twice. What has been played, has been played - no need to hear it again, give me something new instead! And fortunately until now I never have heard a tune twice on one evening.

A tune played twice on two seperate evenings I have nothing against.

But on the same evening it's a no for me...

No i dont mean twice in the same evening, i mean, you hear a track once and never ever again.....always brand new stuff...which is fine...i suppose.

I have spoken to DJs i know and they wont play anything they have played before, what a waste of good music...IMO

Seems moreso in the trance world than any other kind of music...I like hearing new and old mixed up on the same night...there`s nothing like a familiar tune to pull people on the dancefloor...!

  8. If I like a track, and the track is being played by someone else the same night I am playing, I dont give a damn! If the track is good, its good, and its the way YOU play and present it in the end that matters, and not that its the same track. However, if you only have the same tracks as the previous dj, you pretty much are not going to sound "genuine" and the party would become boring...

Wouldnt you agree Ms Janet? :)

I understand that it is a difficult task you have, but every DJ must have some `classics` that they like..individual to them...yet i hardly ever here anything but `new skool` for want of a better term.....and just now the parties are going very `prog` which is a style that can become a little `tedious`......

i suppose i can listen to all my faves at home, but they sound so good out there on the dance floor....!

  9. I have been into Psy since about 1996 and still love it...But.....why is it that i rarely hear any tune twice? Has DJing become so competetive that only the newest of new will be played, god forbid that anyone has played it before!!

I was chatting to someone about dancefloor `politics` and it seems that the trend isnt about those on the dancefloor any more.... :(

I love hearing lots of music in a variety of styles in a club..and i absolutely LOVE hearing familiar tunes..so do many of the folks i hang out with..., yet it seems that the DJs have the say and not those who are paying the money to go to the clubs!

Kulu/Bradford recently did an old school Goa set on the middle floor...the main floor and the chill were empty..Everyone was on the middle floor...doesn`t that say something????

One of the best sets i have heard recently was a young lass at Cabbage who played everything from techno to trance, Acid to Goa and back again....It was so much fun and she had that floor rocking...Oh to hear more of that...!!

    Whinge over.....PJ.xxx
