  1. My apologies, gentlemen, for I have been a bit long to deliver my views on this object.

I won't comment the two first songs, because I don't like Goa downtempo. I never did, I never will. Unless it sounds like chill-out, psybient, or has the beat of deep trance, which wasn't the case.

So, what about The Gate and The Sphere ?

The World Beyond was a release that I've been waiting for months. I was expecting a lot of it.

So, when I hear the Gate, I actually think in

    THE GATE !!!!!!!!!!!

    THE FUCKING GATE !!!!!!!!!!

  4. Any (other) thoughts?

This scene tends too much to enclose itself within its old standards. The early Goa wave had many sources of inspiration : trance, acid house, tecnho, EBM, psychedelic rock...

Today, the newschool wave gets inspired at 50% by oldschool Goa, at 40% by other newschool artists, and at 9% by psytrance.

And yes, it's a shame that the early Goa artists do not interest in the newschool wave.

In brief : enclosed background, lack of interactions.

  5. Hey, Christophe. I'm answering to your desperate call for an appreciation.

As you might know, I'm not a fan of Eastern trance, especially when it sounds old-school. But as someone curious, I've dug upon these tracks. I won't make a criticism of Organic Clouds, because I just dislike Goa downtempo in general.

Well, what about Infinite Mind ? I'll just write that I felt a positive inspiration from Asia 2001. The melodic patterns didn't do it for me (matter of taste, once again), but they are somehow refreshing. The track sounds a bit formulaic and "compact" to my ears (maybe work more on rhythmic evolutions ?). An interesting thing is the constant presence of a choir in the background.

Perpetual Illusion. I like it more. Mainly because of the bassline. Very catchy. The melodies are more aerial. It's deeper, more moody. However, I think that, as for the previous track, it needs a bit more "breathing".

I hope my review satisfied you. ^^

  6. It seems, Ormion, that your body is sending you a message.

Though being quite young myself (22 yo), I'm thinking in 2 things.

The first one is that you might be a transitionning age (if you're in your 40's, or approahing) that is hard for you to go through. There are many men who, at the age of 40-50, go through depressions or disorders because they endure metaphysical thoughts (what have I achieved through my life ? how will I end it ?). Also, some psychoanalysts suggest that this period unleash secret ressources of the mind.

Second thought : mental/spiritual disbalance. You're not healthy, but your body show signs of weakening. That must be due to your mind. Maybe that you're going through a lot of stress, and that makes you sick. Or maybe your mind is suffering in some other way.

In any case, have you ever thought of checking your "mental" health (e.g. see a psychologist) or to begin some kind of therapy (for well-being ?). Some techniques such as yoga or sophrology might prove useful.

    But I'm no doctor.

  7. Hello Mr. Radi ! Glad to see you back :)

Sorry, I don't know any forum that can excite you, unfortunately.

EDIT : Or you can try reddit.com . They have a subreddit for (almost) every possible topic : cars, religions, food, debate, geography, politics, love, languages, etc. There are thousands of them. Just lurk around and you should find something.

  8. Mmmm, I'm skeptical. Can we still speak of proper "full-on" in 2015 ?

Let me explain. Psyprog has become closer to full-on, and full-on to psyprog, over these past few years. Those genres have kept merging together, and today, I really have a hard time categorizing wether a track belong to the "full-on prog" or to the "progressive full-on" category. According to me, it's becoming harder and harder to make a clear distinction between the 2 genres nowadays.

How acurate is this concept ? Am I the only one feeling this ?

  9. Usually if their first 2-3 releases suck, they only get worse after that. So I haven't heard "Lost In The Wild" and I doubt I'm missing much. There is a chance that I'm missing out, just like I could be missing out on the newest Justin Bieber.

Oh, come on dude. Justi click on it.

  10.

That's what fanboys tend to ignore.

To be fair, I wasn't actually opposing the criticism towards Filteria, but the way it was done. There is a way to debate things, and blunt, manichean statements tend to make me teasy.

Now, some criticism have been made, and I approve it. Some tracks do feel bland. To my ears, the 3rd album sounded too random, and sometimes Janis (hi Janis !!!!! <3<3<3<3<3) rely too much on the "Filteria bursting" rhythm.

However, that's not the case with LITW. The tracks are refined, much more "simple", and perfectly measured.

I am working on K.O.B. album.

  11. E-Mantra. The love of my life.

    Liquid Frequencies (2008 mix)

    Insomnia

I like best his pieces of morning full-on. But I'm not digging the Nemesis album :/

He also makes some wonderful psybient, but I have no preference for a track in particular.

  12. What if I told you that I dislike 9th, but absolutely love Filteria?

Same here. At the exception of Time Current.

That should be due either to my poor musical taste, or to my lack of musical education xD

After all, how can I enjoy the rich tapestries of multiple chaotic layers such as delivered by Jannis Tzikas, and still call myself a trance lover ?

I confess my sins. Tomorrow, I'll get myself a teacher, and he'll guide me onto the right path. And then, RA shall be proud of me, as I shall accept Him in my heart as my Lord and Saviour. Amen.

  13. well i like some artists and i am willing to admit they are not particularly talented - ka-sol is a good example you cant really say its true musical talent (have a music teacher listen to ka-sol and you think he will say this artist is talented?)

as for filteria - since the beginning he tried to copy pleiadians - if you have enough talent you dont try to copy anyone or at least if you do so you succeed and make something even better which is far from being the case here

again please listen to ra - 9th and you will hear something magic very harmonious and personal - definition of music

    then listen to filteria...

my view is if you have enough talent then you dont need to put 1000 layers in a track to make it sound like it is psychedelic

  14. Trance Music and Psy-Trance are one genre. They appeared at the the same time, and immediatly merged, before splitting into two separate universes.

Just listen at Union Jack, Cosmic Baby or Astralasia. I can't say if they belong to trance or psy-trance. These genres, before 1994/1995, were more than close. Early Platypus is a good example of that.

Trance in itself was an acidic and psychedelic genre, just as Goa today.

And actually, modern Goa and Psy-Trance are much closer, both in sound and spirit, to original Trance music than the modern Trance scene has ever been. If there is a genre that branched out, that's Trance.
