Efficient Trance music from Japan. The instrumental version sounds better without the cheesy vocals.
Edit : the original, from the album Rewind Amnesia

That was a cold summer indeed. But not as cold as the year 1816.
During the Spring of the year 1815 occured one of the strongest volcanic eruption in Human History : the eruption of the Mount Tambora, in Indonesia.
This event had disastrous consequences on the climate worldwide. The amount of particules released in the atmosphere lead to a mini volcanic winter that occured one year later, in 1816. This year was named "the year without summer". The temperatures in the North hemisphere during that summer hardly surpassed the 0°C (Celsius). Here is the map of the average temperature in Europe during this cold cold summer :

What's up Psynews ?
A few weeks ago, we had two memorable topics about the power of evocation of Goa music :
_ a topic named "What songs do you connect to a girl ?"
_ another one who dealt with synaesthesia, and the colorful feelings one might have when listening to Goa Trance.
Well, this thread is not that much different. Let me explain.
It is hard to me to listen to a release when I don't have a "key" to understand it. As soon as I figured out that key, I can dive deeply into an album, an EP or a mere song. This key, in my case, is the feeling of a story, or a landcape, or both (when the narrative side of a song meets up the descriptive one).
A question I adress then to the people who might feel intrested is : What release do you connect to what kind of landscapes ?
This kind of topic should also evaluate the potential of psy music to stimulate the imagination, and the importance of its atmospheric work.
Then, I shall begin myself. Here are releases that I personnally connect to specific landscapes :
Filteria - Lost in the Wild : Gothic landscapes. Towering cathedrals plunged into the night. Gargoils, vampires, and necromancers acting under the dim light of candles.
Electrypnose - Bloomy Trap : The Dark side of the Internet. Cyber war.
Egorythmia - The Remixes 2011 : The inside of a moving tectonic rift.
Astropilot - Solar Walk 2 : A silent city with concrete buildings, without any people or animal. The sun is shining of a surreal light. The time has ceased to be.
Merkaba - Ancient Relics : A dark, moist forest where you can lose yourself. The trees are filled with pagan magic.
E-Mantra - Arcana : An eerie nightscape, with fairies dancing and fluorescent plants.
Electrypnose - Brain Stretching : A post-acopalyptic landscape. Industrial ruins filled with noxious chemicals and deadly radioactivity.
JIS - Illusions of Reality : Open blue sky. A refreshening breeze. Some flying boats passing by.
Deedrah - Self Oscillation : The dark suburbs of a cosmopolite city. 90's cars, drug dealing, gang wars.
Akshan - The Rise of Atlantis : Gigantic white cliffs in a Fantasy world, bordering an ocean looking like the Atlantic. Gulls flying around.
Skazi - My Way (No, I won't put a link) : A pool party in Beverly Hills. With a lot of rich people making dumb hip-pop, dressed as if they were gangstas.
Psykovsky - Tanetsveta : A dystopian world. Babies growing into tubes. Torture rooms. Cybernetic technology at the service of evil.

Too bad that those kind of labels release their products song by song instead of releasing full-lenght albums/

Happy birthday, Mister Vranken. I wish you all the best.

Hello Psynews.
This thread is to deal with the creativity inspired by psychedelic ambient and EDM. Indeed, Psytrance and Psybient are not just about music. It can help people to have ideas in many media.
Here, I will share with you a few Youtube channels whose common point is to release montages made to suit a Psytrance or Psybient song.
There are two purposes for this : promote those channels, and show you how a Psytrance/Psybient song can be visually interpreted.
I hope that you will complete my short list with more amazing channels/clips.
1. Brume Argentée
Link to the channel : Brume argentée
"Brume argentée" means, in French language, "Silver Haze". This gorgeous chanel focuses on the angelic dimension of Psybient. Even if it is mostly dedicated to Psybient, this channel have made a few clips for Goa songs. Amazing poetic montages here, full of wonder and well-being.
Carbon Based Lifeforms - Lost

E-Mantra - Orphic Hymn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIbMA1shOyo&list=UUpRYF3rIduXq4QJ8aXSKPVA&index=1
2. New Aeon

This channel insists on the spiritual dimension of Psytrance/Psybient.

A classic channel for Goa-Heads. If you don't know it already, run to subscribe.
Khetzal - Listening Winds

This video on the three following channels are more properly montages than clip. But it is well done, and agreable.
4. Psybrations
Link to the channel : Psybrations
5. Live at Goa
For more montages : Live at Goa
Astropilot - Memories Maze (Khetzal Remix)

As Rotwang said, it's pretty good.
By "pretty good", I mean, I feel that you master your devices/software, as well as the rhythm. But it's not a banger too.
They are some beginnings of interesting melodic ideas hi and there (example : Untitled from 04:25 to 05:00). This is your personnality : work on that more, in order to create a really original content.
However - but I think it's normal since you're beginning - it globally feels too generic for me. This full-on resembles too much normal full-on music. Then, there's much more work awaiting for you. But it seems that you got the basis : the tracks are solid, weel balanced. There is harmony, the developement are well built, etc.
I wish you good luck.

It's not out yet, but I already fell in love with this future track of Travma. It's not complete, but it's damn good !

Hello dear Psynewers !
A few weeks ago, a very interesting topic started by Taika-Kim was asking : what are the most oldschool-ish producers of our contemporary Goa scene. This lead to an exciting talk about the great comeback of the old vibe in modern Goa music.
However, it seems to me that this talk must be completed by reverse questionning :
_What is the most newschool Goa songs and artists ? Those who are firmly Goa, but that have very few in common with 90's Goa.
_What are the common points between those songs/artists ?
_Do these songs/artists express a trend that is to be developped in the next fex years ?
Then, to start this topic, I'll submit a few candidates for the top rank of the most newschoolish sounds, and I will conclude with a short analysis.
1. Eleusyn (and Emmanuel Carpus in general)Hypno & Eleusyn - Ganduri (Eleusyn Remix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckl4b-7FFsEAccording to me, the Eleusyn Project (consisting of E-Mantra and Reasonandu) is the best example of Newschool Goa. It is, at the same time, a very effective conveyer of the Goa energy and a very inovative project with futuristic sounds.
E-Mantra - Liquid Frequencies (2008 mix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrKK_jLXImI
E-Mantra is obviously one of the most creative and inspirationnal Newschool project, leading Goa music to a kind of new trend based mostly on deep, subsconscious, spiral melodies and heavy rolling basslines. But this track in particular is very intriguing. It is Goa Trance, without using any of the traditionnal Goa sounds : no eastern patterns, no Goa bassline, no acid whirling.
2. Fractal Vivisection
Fractal Vivisection - Molecular Instability
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J5EN8UPh_g
This songs begins like a Darkpsy track, and then turns Goa. This artist is only at its beginning, so the quality has to be improved, but the important fact here is the kind of sounds used in the Goa recipe.
3. Nova Fractal
Nova Fractal - Perception
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8R41bccqvI
In my opinion, this song embodies the most what is the Nova Fractal Project is : an oniric voyage through simple but efficient formulas, with those crystalline melodies typical of the Newschool era, and the integration of the full-on sound.
4. Filteria - Perpetually Delayed Voyage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3J6FsuT-m4
Filteria, although the fact that he's considered as the spear-head of the Newschool scene, can't be considered, IMO, as the most newschool project, since it is more a continuation, by modern means, of the Pleiadian spirit. But this song in particuar - Perpetually Delayed Voyage - has nothing to do with oldschool, and sounds like a vision of the future. It insists more on onirism than psychedelism, combines uplifting tones with a modern full-sound, and has a very contemporary storry-telling.
5. Lectro Spektral Daze (Sorry, the video embed doesn't work for my two final links. Please consider clicking them.)
Lectro Spektral Daze - The Third Eye
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5fsdbVK6tY
Lectro Spektral Daze do stay faithful to some oldschool melodic patterns. But it the way he plays with them that is brandly new. He enriches the oldschool spirits with a lot of modern sound taken from psytrance and progressive, and this engineering makes IMO of this project one of the most newschool one, alongside with its innovative acoustic experiences that can be heard in the climax of this song.
6. BlackStarrFinale
BlackStarrFinale - Star Cloister
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMRNbOVKB0c
When dealing with newschoolish sound, you cant' forget the project of Luis Pabon. He's a very newschool artist by the way he turns the full-on sound into a Goa sound, and develops blurred melodies scattered between the kicks.
A brief analysis
All the songs and projects quoted hereabove are pretty different from each other. However, we can notice some similtudes.
The most striking aspect of all those songs is the fact that, in their definition, they aren't so a continuation of oldschool Goa that an evolution of the 2k's psytrance scene. They seem to be more an evolution of psytrance than an evolution of Goa, and the fact that Neo Goa concentrates most of the creative potential of the whole psy-scene and attracts more and more young artists makes me think that this melodic trend of psytrance will develop, and perhaps replace former genres, while newschool oldschool will keep spreading in parallel.
And, a second point that links several of these songs is that they insist more on onirism than psychedelism, and insists much more on storry-telling than the 90's artists ever did.
What do you think of it ?

I also remember that Gilbert from Asia 2001 has a trance side-project named Loren-X.
In 1994 Loren-X released an album named Definitive Perception, that was really Goa-influenced.
Loren-X : Sectosphere

Loren-X - Goasubliminal

I have a friend who is a trance producer. I asked him once to make his own version of 1001 Arabian Nights by 1200 Micrograms.
Perfect Anthem Trance with a nice Goa climax :
Martin Boesgaard - 1001 Danish Nights.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXAVuSNi3C4
He's a super talented and kind guy. If you like Uplifting Trance, that worths the listen.
I especially love the way he turned the Goa sounds into anthemic/emotionnal effects.
Edit : the original tune by 1200 Mics
Edit 2 : Thank you Rotwang !
Edit 3 :
I forgot this awesome tune by Pulsar Recordings. A dark uplifting trance track with Goa elements :
Ilya ViG - Ashian (2014)(official clip)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20R49tNp-Eg
Bonus :
How would sound a crossover of J-Pop, Euro-Trance and Goa Trance like ?
I'm always happy when I listen to this one.

90's artists getting back into Trance seem fascinated by the full-on bassline. MWNN is confirming that trend. Not to mention Toï Doï, Asia 2001, Etnica/Pleiadians, and so the more.
This needs an inquiry.

"Hum, that smells delicious."
"Nom nom nom nom."

I really would like to hear more Journey Into Sound (JIS). He has a very promising sound. I also expect a lot from other Timewarp artists : CoaGoa, Trinodia and Nova Fractal. The Timewarp guys have a very intresting vision of melodic Goa. It's sweet Goa Trance, with a bountiful, cheery style. I hope as well that Fractal Vivisection and Lectro Spektral Daze will refine their style. Those two projects attend to renew the psychedelism in Goa Trance.
Another niche of promising artists is Goalogique Records. I really would like to know how will evolve artists such as Tocomoco, Proxeeus, Minomar, etc. Those projects go back to the 90's laboratories of Trance music, bringing back the special effects of experimental EDM : distorted waves of sounds, raw synths making bloops, etc.
To finish, I feel bad that PharaOm left the scene. He was an awesome guy and composer.

The most oldschoolish sound I've heard until now comes from DJ Tomocomo (Japan) :
Her soundcloud : soundcloud
One good track : Effulgent moon
Her tracks could have been produced in 1995. Same sound that the first Japanese Goa Trance.
