  1. @Rotwang... In person. They brought their Renegades Of Rythmn tour out. Basically they were given access to Afrikaa Bambataa's vinyl archive and took their selection on tour. it was amazing. Also seeing two top dj's spinning on 6 decks in sync was just WOW!!

  2. Yup. I'm allowed to critique aren't I? I find his manner abrupt & difficult to follow. His presentation style is not particularly succinct & his set up is such a mess it distracts from the product on show.

If you don't want to be critiqued then you shouldn't put yourself out there.

I'm sure he's a nice bloke irl & I enjoy his tunes a lot. I just don't find his reviews/videos to be that great compared to others.

    As stated:

A clear presentation space so that focus can be on the product is needed.

A clearer maybe pre written presentation that is simple and to the point helps as well.

    just my thoughts.

  3. Well there's no point treating the room if you don't have some reasonable quality speakers to make sure it's been treated well duh.

So I'd say get some quality monitors (I'm not saying like $20k ones, but I'd say at least around $1-2k for a pair is reasonable if your serious), the treat the room. I highly recommend getting someone who's a pro to at least design the treatment, the either pay a pro to install it well or install yourself.

Also check out the web, some beautiful looking boutique treatment stuff being out there that works well.

  4. So finally made a down payment on a custom 12u by 126hp rack in Goike style. Should be ready in early June as the actual bloke building it is away until then.

It'll mostly be a mix of Intellijel, Mutable Instruments & Sputnik modules with some Doepfer utility modules. Really want the big Sputnik sequence but might not have the space, could potentially get a separate case for it I guess.

Next year will get the same case built for a The Harvestman vs Make Noise system then settle in to purchasing some x0x style gear & I want the DSI Pro 2 and Sequential Circuits Prophet 6 as my only keyboard synths.

Have managed to try out both the MS-20 mini & Arp Odyssey reissues and found them to be poorly made & not the bet sound wise for the money.

  5. Goa does sell. PPL here in Australia associate the out door sound IMO more with progressive than the traditional styles.

As far as I'm away after Zenon had an issue with YSE, these compilations licence the tracks direct from smaller labels & therefore skip any input from the musician. Often this means I think the smaller label gets any royalties and nine is fed back to said musician.

it's the way it's always been. Musician last, middle man gets % then big label gets most or all profit.

The problem I'm finding is that you get 1-2 good/reasonable track and then 16-17 generic loads of sh!t. I'm kinda keen on the Goa Sessions series from YSE which seem to be artist related and may have some more quality control.

The Goa name should be dropped completely. Most younger folk I know just call it trance, even the melodic new Goa. Makes more sense to me.

  6. Got a white pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones. I had the original M50's until recently my 2y/o son tossed them down the stairs and they broke. Prefer these with optional cords anyway.

Also it's my 5th wedding anniversary tomorrow so also got my wifey some nice jewellery that suits the theme.

  7. Amazing music. Really has given me a positive head space. When things are getting me down or my anxiety disorder is heading in to crazy land an hour or so with Steve's music just really brings me back in to a positive state of being both mentaly & physically reducing tension.

my current fav. are Structures from Silence (3xCD Remastered version) n' the Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces releases. But i have plenty from him. PRoblem is I always float away and find it hard to stay focussed. but i always come back feeling so enlightened and healthy. Not great for long drives though LOL!

  8. Steve Roach - I have plenty of his music now and it really is soooooo damn good to drift in to a half awake state of blissful tripping. It's kind of more a blissful peace, lost in space but with positive vibes. I alway find when i come back from listening to his music I feel reenergised and very very much in a positive stress free state of being. It could be that he & I exchanged many emails about what I was looking for before he selected I think it was 12 of his releases for me.Th eonly one that troubles me is a modular one about insect growth which well O have a phobia of bugs so it makes me unsettled LOL.

  9. Hi Draeke

sorry to be a pain in the butt. It's much cheaper for me to order from Psyshop due to postage BUT if I order from you direct will I be able to download via bandcamp? I know you can send the files but the last few times you did this the site used took like 2 days on my compiuter to donwload the files whereas bandcamp is super fast. If it wil be up on bandcamp & i can get digital after buying from you I'd much rather pay the extra and go direct...

    Cheers

  11. My tv has been in need of repairs for 3 years now. I also don't own any form of gaming device either as I despise them. 80% of my awake time is spent outdoors with my kids & ensuring my house is in pristine condition. 8% is spared for Internet time, 2% for music listening & the final 10% I spend building my modular synth and making music.

Believe me mate, I've know a lot about the world my kids are growing up in and I'm doing my in. Of protecting & preparing them. Paranoia and anxiety over factors out of my control solve nothing & waste time best spent positively elsewhere.
