About Me

I bought 1200s and a mixer in the summer of 1995 after discovering psychedelic trance at college.  I started going to parties that same summer but wasn't hearing any DJs playing psy with any consistency. I didn't realize at the time that this music was just beginning to differentiate itself from all the other sub-genres of trance.  I decided to try to change the situation and, after about a year of practice, landed my first gig. By the turn of the millenium I'd played at events all across the US and Canada, and had borne witness to the establishment of the psy trance scene in cities all across North America.

I stayed active until mid-2003 when, growing a bit tired of the direction the scene and sound was going, decided to take a break. I never stopped buying music and would still turn out a mix session once or twice a year, but ceased actively promoting myself and gigging.

In 2008 the itch to get back behind the decks became too strong.   Thanks to the wonders of Beatport, my sets now include tech house, progressive house, breaks, and techno which allows for a wide degree of flexibility. Despite not devoting myself exclusively to psy trance, I still focus on tracks with elements that attracted me to psychedelic trance nearly twenty years ago.

After all these years the music and the parties still excite me and keep me wanting to share and contribute.

I hope to see you on the dance floor and if you check out my mixes, please leave a little note. I love to hear from listeners.

Follow me on Beatport, SoundCloud, and House Mixes.

My SoundCloud mix is updated monthly.  The ones on House Mixes are up there to stay.

In recent months, I have been in the studio collaborating with my old friend Kent Friedman.  Kent was one of the first US producers of psychedelic trance to earn an album release, way back in 1998 as well as tracks on Krembo, BooM!, and Soular Records compilations.  Kent and I have known each other since 1996, and we collaborated twice before- in 1997 on the track 'People of Earth' and in 1999 on a project called Shape Shifters which remains almost completely unreleased until this day.

Our new tracks are hard to pin down-- I guess you could call them a cross between new-school progressive house and old-school acid psy.  Anyway, we've now got a pile of tracks ready to unleash on the world.  To check them out, visit Mind Warped & Hugh Sha

UPDATE. . .

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: this collaboration has been assimilated into the Silicon Syndicate.

Thank you for your compliance.
