  1. hahahaha!!! You're a funny man, GORE!!! ART - not trance, not psytrance, not electronic music, not even music itself - ART has ALWAYS been a matter of drugs (and when it wasn't about drugs it was about schizophrenics... well, actually religion too, but I won't get into that here:). Just look at history, read a book on Mozart's life, read the biographies of famous writers, famous painters, etc. etc. etc., you'll see that drugs were ALWAYS part of human expression through art. I'm not saying that EVERY talented artist since the dawning of man kind was high when making something good, but most of them were. Now the problem is what kind of drug they used, and that evolved through human history from the classical distilated alcohol during the renaissance to the darling of french writers absynth to the hallucinogenic drug explosion of the 60s to the more "cooler" cocaine. It's all a question of tendecies, maybe tomorrow's drug will be something forgotten by history, maybe it'll be something completely new, but I can assure you, whenever that drug will become the new fad, you'll see an enormous change in musical creativity (and any sort of creativity for that matter). 2. ah well, as long as they don't ruin it with something like Le Lotus Bleu (2003 GMS remix) ;-) SMI²LE
  3. the scene now: 1. minimal is dead 2. artists dicovered that if they took minimal and added a loud bassline and some random sounds on top they could get away with calling it "full-on" 3. the 25694 copy cats that were releasing low quality minimal are now releasing low-quality "full-on" 4. artists that were in the scene from day 1 should really retire instead of releasing clones of the shitty music produced our days (with a few exceptions though) 5. there's a new tendency of releasing mediocre tracks from a few years ago and calling them "classics" 6. in spite of this, you DO sometimes get a good album from time to time... well, that's all I can think of right now :-)
  4. bleh, I heard samples and I didn't like it at ALL!!! Total Eclipse totally blew it with this one... it sounds like full-on release no. 25694, there's NOTHING that reminds you that it was made by THE Total Eclipse... sad... SMI²LE
  5. EP is selling his collection... man, I better start saving up ;-) SMI²LE
  6. oh BTW since we're talking innovative, I definately recommend Squaremeat - Jungle Boogie Party Line. It rules!!!! It's by finns, so expect it to be uncoventional, yet it it's "normal" enough to be enjoyable, kinda like Mandalavandalz.
  7. well I'll be damned... so THAT'S why the scene is going down the drain in these parts... guess I'll have to move to Japan then ;-) Funny, I never saw Japan as such a big market for psy... SMI²LE
  8. oh yeah, for my insider information, so people won't think I'm making it up: the main inspiration for the post was a post by D-dave a few topics below saying that Ka-Sol has made around 200 tracks (of which there are like a handfull of releases) and an interview with AP on http://www.psymag.com/magazines/ArticlePag...2&ArticleID=739 where they say "If you browse through our computer, you'll find enough material to fill more than 200 albums " SMI²LE
  9. well I can also come and tell you that S-Range, Silicon Sound, Nissimyami and 1200 mics shouldn't be recomended for innovation either :-))) SMI²LE I like being cynical
  10. yep I agree totally!! Surely artists are able to think of that by themselves, right? SMI²LE
  11. I'm always amazed to see the difference between the number of tracks made by an artist and the number of tracks released by the artist... I mean if you read interviews, you'll find that artists make like 1000 tracks!!! But they only release 8-9 per album at a rate of 1 album per year... if you're lucky... so why the big difference? I suppose that quality if the main factor, but can anyone honestly say that quality still is an issue in today's scene? I mean, I read in an interview that AP have around 1500 tracks in their studio... but their latest album Amen sounded like they just put something up together to fans would get another of their albums... surely in all the 1500 unreleased tracks they made there must've been 9 others that were better than the stuff released? And why not release an album or 2 per year then? SMI²LE
  12. and also don't forget to regularly check ebay.com, ebay.de, ebay.fr... you never know when a psyfreak starts selling his old CD collection for low low prices SMI²LE
  13. S-range? Sillicon Sound?? Nissimyani??? 1200 mics????? if these are dark then I wouldn't like to hear anything released by Schlabbaduerst... anyway I confirm that Scatterbrain pick, IMO it's the best dark album out there at the moment. SMI²LE
  14. hmm interesting knowledge there EP... I always thought that the main market for psytrance is Europe... now you say it's Japan? how wierd... care to share more infos with us? this sounds interesting SMI²LE
  15. interesting indeed... you sure there sin't a name mix-up or something? (another group with the same name). I doubt Total Eclipse would release new stuff all the way in Japan instead of doing it in Europe first... I mean, they are french, you know... SMI²LE
  16. yeah but they could at least make money out of REAL classics!! SMI²LE
  17. oldschool? but that's all we have left from this miserable scene!! SMI²LE
  18. what the hell is this new trend of releasing older average tracks and calling them "classics"?? Just look at these track listings: Classic/ Remix (Hadshot): CD1: (the "classics" CD) 1. The Overlords – Gods Eye On Goa 2. The Siamese Twins – A Proper Cup Of Coffee 3. Vernon – Wonderer 4. Planet B.E.N. – September Love 5. Eargear – Trancehouseexpress 6. Sandman – Loop In Control 7. Deedrah – Reload 8. Three Point Turn – Thriller 9. Sonic Fusion – Tribal Worrior 10. Dandandado – Diamond Dust Classic Goa Trance 2003 - Book 1 (Yellow Sunshine Explosion Recordings): CD1 01 Cosmosis - Human evolution 02 Fractal Glider - Telementery 03 Psysex - Dirty 80s 04 California Sunshine - New underground 05 Fractal Glider - Suspishrooms 06 Rastaliens - Mission not possible 07 Dark Soho - The 14th 08 Sediment 4 - Ragana 09 Yahel On Joerg - Nauschka CD2 01 Human Blue - The creator 02 Yahel - Scratch 03 Manmademan - Amuzin 04 Cyber Cartel - Final oblivion 05 Space Cat - Armageddon (Remix) 06 Aerodance - Top trick 07 The Vision - Daydreamer 08 MFG - Rise and fall 09 Element - Turn to me now, a part from The Overlords, Planet BEN and *maybe* Deedrah can anyone say that any of these are true classics??? I mean, either it's about a bunch of artists you've never heard of (who the hell is Sediment 4 or Eargear??) or about a bunch of tracks released by famous artists but the tracks themselves are VERY average... I mean, you'd think that such artists as Yahel, Cosmosis, CS or MFG gave us MUCH better tracks than the stuff released here!! So what the hell's going on??? Not only are lables damaging our scene by releasing crap, now they want to make us believe that goatrance always has been crap??? This makes me very sad... SMI²LE
  19. I'm with Otto Matta on this one AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! SMI²LE
  20. oh man I'm sad to hear that... guess that the upcoming Transwave IV album will be crap as well... and to think that Dado said himself that Cycles of Life was his best song to date. Doesn't he feel ashamed to destroy such a masterpiece? SMI²LE
  21. Jeez, that Mumbo Jumbo album was absolute crap!! IMO saying that they're "most characteristic artists in this style" doesn't really make good publicity... SMI²LE
  22. "music is music" yes, but Neo Full-On is the hypest music around!! Oh baby, I'm gonna fill my hair with gel, put on my fashionable clothes on and go out for a Neo Full-on party right now!! Only the trendiest people in town will be let in the venue, so if you don't die you hair blond and wear flashy sun-glasses, don't even THINK of going there!!! There's a VIP entrance too, but that's only if you are seen driving up in the hypest Lamborghini Galiardo, otherwise you'll be smaked in the face by the big fat doormen after taking all you money for the entrance. Be warned!! SMI²LE
  23. well at least I'm happy it's not called "Nu- full on" or "deep full-on" now that would be cheezy... SMI²LE
  24. and 2 more: Yahel - Last Man in the Universe Nissimyani - Fresco (my newest favorite!!) SMI²LE
  25. oh yeah and how could I forget Chi AD - Eye Am the I!!!! SMI²LE
