  1. I love this album. Once I got the twisted kinda dark forest world in my head, this album just started living inside of me.. i have never felt atmospheres this powerful before..

  2. Nice story :) I have to admit, that I too love the doors a lot (Not that this is something to be ashamed of hehe). I like the bit that your father actually listened to Prodigy and FSOL! I guess back in the days, when my father was young, Afrika Bambaata, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dreams were like Prodigy and FSOL is for "younger" fathers :) How old are you, if I might ask? :)

    i'm 18, and yeah I have a rather yong father.. hes 40. :)

  3. uhh.. i like this thread :)

well, at first what got me into music was probably my father.. i started listening to hes records at quite an early age.. he had all sorts of stuff.. old rock music, some electronica etc.. i used to be a huge fan of metallica for a while when i started going to school... :) soon though i found that my father had lots of cooler things.. found hes records of FSOL, Prodigy and Enigma.. got really hooked on those.. once i was about 13 i think, i met a boy in my class - never talked to him before - and he was into drum'n'bass.. well.. i had the prodigy records, he had some cool new stuff i'v never heard before.. so we traded and soon became really good friends.... well then i got really into dnb and went on like that for a few years.. wen't to my very first raves then (i grew up in a really small town so no one really cared how old you were - if you wanted to be in there.. you must have liked the music).. anyway times moved on.. so i just kinda calmed down to softer breaks to nu jazz to dub tp whatever till i found the 60's psychedelic rock music scene -- the doors!! now thats what really blew me away.. i loved the doors.. i got the whole discography, the lives, the unreleased stuff, the jim morrison haircut !! got really into psychedelic stuff.. though the old stuff really made me feel like i have been dead for 40 years and i was only 16.. so i started looking for newer stuff.. and eventually found psytrance.. it was strange.. i got really hooked from the first track.. about a week after i found the stuff, i didnt listen to anything else anymore.. the energy, the story.. the everything about this music was/is just so addictive..

when i say anything else i'm a liar.. i still listen to the doors :)

    thats my story :P

  4. i'm fairly new to psytrance myself, but can't really say that i feel it's ruined in any way.. just things seem to have changed but theres still a lot of interesting and good music around.. well.. for me. :)

but reading all these posts, i'd like to ask, what in the psytrance scene do you guys still like? i mean.. there must be something that keeps you interested.

  5. From Crystal Matrix i'v heard some good full-on, but mostly from the V.A. comps they have released. Utopia 2 also released this year was good, having Ananda Shake - Wonderland on it and everything. But Shift "Excessions" now doesn't really do it for me. There are some good tracks - I like Stretch and Da Business, but listening to the whole album is a bit too much, but thats just me. I can definately see why the twisted style of Shift might really appeal to some.

  6. All the pretty words echoing in the back of my mind, somehow have found it's way to this thread already: "pure fairytale, cute, light, poetic, pictoreque" - let me think.. no, nothing else to add.

Benza's the pilot on my flight and a really trippy, hazy flight through soft, psychedelia clouds it is.

Usually I don't like when vocal samples are used, but on this album some of the vocal samples are great, some still bother me a bit, but mostly I can't really understand what they're saying so they kinda just blend to the music.

I'd mention three of the tracks also, that I remember something about:

The Pipe Doctor - "Silence!", "Does it seem a bit.. quiet to you?" and then wham! some really rocking guitar riffs just destroy the "silence" and the breakbeat sample IMO actually sounds good for the first time in the whole track!

Duck and Cover, the way the long trippy synth in the beginning transforms throughout the whole track is just amazing and how somewhere through the 3rd minute it turns into something really catchy and melodic - just love it!

The Ascension of Smeagol, has the typical (still good, slightly melodic) Benza psychedelic sound throughout, but the reason for mentioning this track is the silence part - really not sure about it, well actually I am - it's like coming! then stops, coming! the stops, coming! then stops and suddenly it sounds like michael flatley was given 2 seconds of fame before run down by a truck of ravers - and then the journey continues harder than ever. weird, just weird IMO.

Duck and Cover and Depth Perception are my favourites, but there are other really good tracks as well.

Overall I love the album, and a rating.. 8/10, it wasn't perfect but really good as I hear it.
