  1. I can't really talk about the scene since I haven't been to a psytrance party in years. I also haven't been in contact with any psypeople for even longer than that.  But there is something I can say about the music: it's true that there are a shitload of forgettable and uninspiring releases (for my taste anyway), but as far as I can tell that is not exactly a new development. I think it only was different in the very beginning but as soon as goa/psy left the state of being something very undergroundy this changed. Which is what happens to every style sooner or later, especially since it's gotten easier to release tracks or albums and put them online instead of having to have a physical release to get your music out to the listeners. But for my taste there is still a lot of very nice stuff that gets released. I just need to do the cherry picking and dig for the stuff that moves me. Not only when talking about psy/goa but also when it comes to hip-hop, metal or other electronic styles like indie dance or techno. This can be very tiresome but in the end the output I get is more than just worth it.

About the short attention span: a rather popular topic in the media but I can't tell if it really is as bad as some people say. Obviously there are apps like tik-tok or instagram where you can post and watch reels that only have a limited amount of time they can last. But they are not the only media available and also not the only media used. If you want something longer there are still regular movies or series, or TV programs. Reading book is still (or again?) rather popular. But we have to face the fact that life is faster than it used to be: technology advancing faster than it used to, news being available faster (and in bigger quantities) than before the internet, an overload of personal opinions available on the internet and what not. When it comes to music there seems to be the trend (at least with techno, can't say how it is with psy) to play only very short sequences of every track and mix in a new one very fast. Not exactly my cup of the and this indeed seems to be a thing with or for younger people. But that's how it is, young people want to try new things instead of doing the same stuff we did again and again. Perfectly normal for any generation in my opinion. Never the less most of the tracks I buy for djing (techno, progressive, indie dance) and also the stuff I buy for my private pleasure (the psy/goa stuff) are in a "normal" lenght. This mans despite new trends I can still function/listen in the way I used to.

  2. I personally would prefere it if the forum keeps running. I'm only posting once in a blue moon but I do read it way more. And I've been able to discover some amazing tracks/artists/albums through this forum lately so it is still very helpfull for me. I don't think it's that bad if moderating the forum only happens with a delay. Considering the forum is not very active anyway I don't see any harm with that.

  3. I also hate Spotify and never use it. But the album is also available on youtube (www.youtube.com/channel/UCrbvoMC0zUvPL8vjswhLOSw) if you want to listen to the full tracks. And if you like it, the tracks can be bought from Beatport, or you check if the physical release is still available in the Infected Mushroom merch shop.

Great album btw. The remakes sound (obviously...) more modern than the original versions but IM still managed to keep the original spirit of the tracks. I definitely hope for a second edition with more tracks...

I haven't bought many records lately, but this week I got this nice cds. =))

I got that CD too and also ordered the Aswaad Collective comp you posted... I haven't been able to listen the comp but the Psykorhythm EP is great. I listened to the track from The Square that you posted, excellent stuff too! I think I have to order that one too...

I got a lot of new music lately, too lazy too post it all but besides the stuff mentioned above that's some of it:

Did someone miss DNA, Gataka, Vibe Tribe, Electro Sun?  145 bpm with happy sunshine melodies  :)

Unashamedly cheesy one, but quite enjoyable (or maybe I just starved for properly melodic psy for so long)

That's the kind of full-on I like and miss. I can even be cheesier for me... :D I didn't know Lexxus but I just pre-ordered a physical copy of that album. Thanks for posting it!

  6. Now this sucks. I used to buy shitloads of CDs back in the day. I made a few orders since covid started but nowadays I mainly use discogs.

Are there any other psytrance focused digital distro sites like Psyshop?

There still is goastore.ch, the prices are swiss-like, this means they are rather high. Don't know about the shipping costs for foreign countries. Are you guys sure psyshop is really gone? Maybe the owner just failed to renew the domain name?

I started doing this last year, around August, my collection is not too big, I have around 300 albums (won't lie, most of them downloaded for free), going by alphabetical order, letter X right now so almost done. Next is the compilations but I have only about 100.

The truth is, I don't find it really enjoyable, going by alphabetical order I often have to listen to something I am not really in the mood for. To go faster I skipped everything I already heard before but still a big task. Bottom line: not very pleasant to be honest, but of course great moments too along the way :)

Yeah listening to your stuff in alphabetical order has its downsides. But if I don't do it like that I forget which albums I have allready played. Plus I tend to listen to stuff I suppose I would like and miss some of the gems that are hidden in the unknown parts of my collection. But that's just how I'm doing eat, to each their own.

  8. I'm not really surprised Astrix has that many views on YouTube. I mean he's playing on huge and commercial festivals with big names from the techno (and other styles) scene like Charlotte de Witte for example. And of course it helps if you invest money in the promotion...

And about Goa being bound to die: I don't think so. Of course its popularity will decline sooner or later (and maybe rise agan after that, who knows) but that's just the regular life cycle of any style. Since somebody mentioned Acid Techno as example: there are quite a lot of tracks in that style that are newly released and also played. The music doesn't sound exactly like it did back in the days, it's slower most of all but imho that style is far from being dead. I think the wish for an evolution of Goa is kinda tricky. Goa did allready evolve into psytrance and progressive for example. This means to me a real revolution will create new styles but Goa will stay the same in its core. Otherwise it wouldn't be Goa anymore from my point of view.

Goa Sessions rock n' roll. These comps got me into psy, such full and lush sounds. Have you collected any others? My favourites were
    Goa Session by X-Noize
    Goa Trance, Vol. 33
    Goa Trance, Vol. 31

I'm sorry for the late replay. I also own Liquid Soul - Goa Sessions https://www.discogs.com/de/Liquid-Soul-Goa-Session/release/6420041

Just listened to this one once after buying and I was kinda disappointed by it. The tracks are melodic but very close to cheesy trance. I wouldn't mind that since I'm into this kind of music normally, Unfortunately it's the boring kind of cheesy zrance for me...

  10. Cosmosis plays guitar and he's quite a stage hog. Don't know how he sounds nowadays but I saw him maybe seven years ago or something, it was ace! Khetzal was allready mentioned in the thread, saw him and his violin live at the same party that Cosmosis was playing. He was also great!

This ones a track that has honestly gone under my radar all these years. Yes the melody is epic, it's a very good track! One of those, like mentioned, that would be a dream to have in a bit more modern sounding quality.

Same here, the track is amazing! I'd definitely buy a re-master...

  13. Re-Listening to all the CDs in my collection is (or was, I will have to leave home office and go back to working at my office soon) actually my pandemia project. My CDs are sorted from A - Z, this means artist names but I also added all the compilations later since I also started to re-arrange my Collection. Chill-out and ambient stuff is also included there. But I won't be listening to that since for me this music not suitable for work. I was able to listen all the albums from artists A to D, Maybe 30 to 40 CDs or something. Then I started to listen to albums and compilations randomly (means I chose the CDs but I tried to listen not only to the stuff i allready played a lot back in the days). I'm still far away from listening to all the stuff I have, also because I started to order new stuff. I have to say I'm nearly as adicted to buying stuff as I was back in the days… :D:D I am listening to all the new CDs that come per mail but I also keep playing my old stuff. Some of the albums I rarely or never listened to are way better than I have expected, I found some real gems there (well, for my taste anyway). And the stuff I used to play a lot still moves me. What doesn't move me anymore is the "standard" prog, it's quite boring to me nowadays. But also in that category there are tracks or albums I still dig. Anyway, I now wonder if and how I will continue listening to goa and psy when regular work starts again, I rarely find time to listen to Music at home, besides the tracks I use for djing (not psy or goa). On the other hand I started to write down the tracks I could use for a mix, mostly goa and neo-goa stuff. I will have to find out if I can mix that stuff tho…
