  1. hmm.. it says on that psychadelic trance encyclopedia article that darkpsy can reach bpms of 500.. :excl::blink::excl:

anyone have examples of this? guess I could do some research.. I'm just interested in hearing bpms that freakin high.

edit: Just listened to some on youtube.. it's a cross between windows crashing to a blue screen while playing music that doesn't end (garbled noise ensued) til you manually turn it off, and perhaps a machine gun shot into the air for 5 minutes straight.

  2. "Problem" is there is no right or wrong here as fact is that each country had it's own phase of genre labeling the music (UK labeled it Goatrance before Psytrance and Denmark labeled it Psytrance before Goatrance) . It would be an endless debate with no end result as you can see from people's posts :)

yea no shit reading this thread is killing my buzz  haha I'm gonna go mow my lawn and listen to TRANCE while I do it.

but I'll be back to read more later.

seriously guys I've learned a ton from this site and I continue to learn about a genre I've known hardly anything about for 15 years.

  3. once you guys get this all settled someone needs to update Wikipedia on the matter. :D and then make it mandatory reading before joining the site to get everyone on the same page.

It would be nice to know what music is labelled what just for the sake of someone else arguing about it. But here in the midwest United States I can go through about 30-50 people before I even find someone who likes trance, let alone even knows there are subgenres of it. I had a friend post some kind of video game music to my facebook the other day then asked me at work last night if I got that "trance" he posted. ?? clueless.

I know with the metal scene.. I'm sick of seeing debates and flame wars over what's labeled as what. Used to be death metal, speed metal, black metal, hair metal.. now we have metalcore, speedcore, deathcore, dark industrialcore too many damn cores!

personally.. I just either like the music or I don't.. it's not like I spend the entire length of the song wondering in my mind.. "now is this song GOA, Psytrance, Darkpsy, ??" knowing that my background on the subject is less than the length of this post. ;)

and with regards to a previous post about genres bringing people together .. realistically that goes about as far as the individuals. From 1960s US Hippies we like to think yea they were all about peace love roses and butterflies but then we also heard about communes that were full of abuse rape murder theft and extortion.. Seems like there's always someone wanting to pee on the good parade and with so many people and so many ways of manipulation and trickery, human nature has us killing all good things eventually. sad.

  4. Congrats DP

I get screwed every year my mother's day though as I am from England where it is celebrated 2 months earlier than Japan where I live so I forget about it every year until it is way too late.

well if you would have read this thread earlier.. haha could have called someone and say "hey"... ;)

  5. I haven't been decently sober in about 2 years :P

    Not good either.

See what I gave me as Member title? I did that while quite drunk.

It was obviously too much again. I will let it stand as a warning for myself...

never been much on drinking myself. I prefer stonage. B) and even then can't do that either because for years I've been working jobs that drug test and I can get hurt on the job so oh well.

  6. I could imagine this goes quite well. My mom always played records when I was a baby. Well, not to put me asleep but when she was doing the housework. Mostly rock from the 60ies and 70ies (Deep Purple, Steppenwolf, Pink Floyd, Stones and what not) and later whatever came into her hands. It was great to grow up with music (good music ;)), so go for it!! :)

My mom listened to a lot of Pink Floyd, Eagles, Grand Funk Railroad, the Who, Linda Rondstadt, Emmylou Harris, Cream, E.L.O., and Kansas when I was a little one. All my dad ever listened to was country (maybe a little Floyd).

My wife only cares for light rock, pop, club rap, and 80s.. She can't stand half of what I listen to. so mostly I'll be playing stuff for the baby when she's not around :D

  7. How about a DSLR that also shoots Full HD video :Canon 600D

well cuz that SLR is about $1070 (USD) , and the Canon Vixia HF M30 is about $480. I suppose the stills will be amazingly better on the SLR, but paying more than double to get that when I'm not in a business or even that rich to afford it just makes no sense. Wondering too if the digicam records the HD better than the SLR can?

  8. Those ones were taken with a small and cheap IXY 25 IS (Japanese model name)... the flash was off and I just used the scopes as light source :P

I was talking to a professional photographer one time and she told me that any camera can take a good picture as long as the person shooting it knows what they're doing. I suppose it doesn't always take a good camera but it probably helps. ;)

I'm looking into getting a better camera for the upcoming birth of my daughter.. looked at digital SLI's but was kinda thinking about an HD camcorder that can take photo stills. There's just so many out there.. Currently I just have my old Canon PowerShot a570 7.1mp (point and shoot) I got many years ago for Christmas.

  9. I think you know the wrong people :(

Most Metalheads I know are nice, joyful, open and tolerant people. Actually they are chilled people and it's very unfitting to the hardness of the music. Interestingly they remind me more of hippies (the tolerant and nice side of hippies) than some psytrancers of today are doing. I even talked with them about it ... very interesting.

Maybe it's the diversity of our Europe region (country-wise) that makes us more open ... I don't know.

You should come over here for a metal festival and get decently drunk with us B)

I haven't been decently drunk in about 2 years. :(

  10. Yea Devil Driver is amongst a sea of just ok hardcore metal. I was just saying they were the only band I've ever seen live, other than local talent. I had only recently discovered Opeth now that you brought them up.. I am very impressed with their music personally. I can't say they are hardcore by any means, but some of their deeper melodic songs have a nice flow.

There are just too many bands of every genre anymore. It's nice for variety, but you'd go broke buying all the albums, especially when many of the bands can only have one or four songs that are even worth hearing.

Before I had brought up the point that with like metalheads, there is a lot of unnecessary competition over who's band is better than who's band. With all the fans competing for hardcore, it's almost like seeing sports fans bicker over who's teams are better than someone else's. sad really, considering I and many like me can like many different styles of anything, doesn't mean I'm this or that or anything. Just look at all the idiots comments on about any metal band posted on youtube and the ensuing flame wars. I've had friends and even an exwife who gave me shit cuz I liked goofy punk music or romantic R&B from the 80s. It's all about what you like at the end.
