  1. oke thanks for the reply mars!

so I get back to my original question ,as the economic benefit doesn't seem to be argument for limited editions...

@ mars so will there be repress of some suntrip stuff? maybe you can still do a smaller number repress and ask a bit more money for the cds... Because another 1000 would be hard to get rid of I guess

Damn those pressing prices are not in the benefit of small labels to say the least...

  2. oke thanks for the replys

I am beginning to get it, it seems more reasonable then I thought at first . :)

...But in these Ltd edition cases the label decides at the beginning to do only one press ...

I have no idea how printing cds works but why can't you press 200 and see that an album sells good and when he is sold out print another 200 instead of taking the risk of pressing 1000 at once

(but probably everytime you do a repress or how is it called you have extra costs ?...)

    @Imba : sorry I misinterpreted you ;)

  3. It's like comics and the collecting of anything.

Keeps values high, and encourages more people to buy it quick.

If the consumer buys the product quickly, it pumps money back into the label for its next release.

If it wasn't limited, the consumer would have less reason to buy quickly and therefore the income that the label is requiring for future product goes unearned.

And it is fun collecting records and knowing where you scored that awesome rare 12" or album. What store. What town. Time of day. It's cool.

    :)

oke that seems lie a decent explanation but aren't the labels losing more money afterwards??? Like aes dana - aftermath and solar fields-extended .. ultimae could have earned some money on me but now it is only some guy selling it to me for a to high price who will earn money or a idiot who looses potential money

I can understand the fun of collection rare things but I wish it would't get in the way of "normal" :P music lovers and of the music itself because allot of times a album gets overated because its rare ...not? I experienced that myself several times that my subjectivity gets influenced from the moment I know I am listening to something verry rare...

@Imba :yeah I am a poor student so I ain't got moeny to pay 100 euros for album <_<

  4. oke I don't get at all why a label or artist would decide to limit a release to a number of copies...

Today I have encountered for the Xth time a cd I would liek to buy but then I notice it is a limited release so even if the cd is pretty recently released I can't seem to get it at a decent price....

I have no problem if there are several versions of a release and one of them is limited so the collectors can have fun hunting that specific version down.

But why discriminate the people who fall in love with the cd a few years after the release and who don't give a fuck about rareness of a release...

  5. Please enlighten me what it has to do with the term "trance" (to obtain a state of trance via repetitive drumming or music) to sit down, cut the music and meditate?

I have no problem with people thinking trance music is equal to religion, spirituality etc. I am not one of those who connect the music with these believes so I have my own personal opinion about this subject just as you have yours ;)

Now if these people want to meditate or pray or whatever it is they are doing then go for it. I just don't believe in the concept and especially not at a party. If I was a paying visitor I would ask my money to be returned and leave the party, which in my opinion got absolutely nothing to do with the concept when it comes to the musical side of the term "trance". I go to parties to dance not to meditate or pray.

I believe in people's right to religious views or spiritual views as long as they keep it on a personal level and do not force it down my throat at parties etc.

Of course this is my personal opinion which I hope you respect just as I respect your opinion even though I do not agree with you at all :)

NB! By the way I am an atheist so I don't like any kind of religion connected to parties or festivals. Those who advocate that the parties and festivals should be more spiritual have to respect (or make your own parties with equal minded people) that the majority going to parties these days does not go to connect with Shiva, Buddha etc. But go for the music, the atmosphere, the experience and a good laugh with friends (and other more illegal activities).

well I just think to many people see spirituality as a part of religion ...

Pure spirituality without any sort of knowledge claims like "my red chakra is here" and crap like that"... Thats what i am talking about :)

and I don't understand what people have against that...

offcourse I should't be forced uppon people But I would like it if there were partys like that ...

I just don't understand those people who hate things like meditation because they think its praying or something...

I am an atheist too or maybe an agnost...and in the what I study I am almost "trained" to destinquish the reasonable stuff from the non-sense and meditation seems to be a veeeerrry reasonable to do :)!

but this is all verry off-toppic sorry

ah and a trance experience is in my eyes verry spiritual!

  6. I stopped watching the minute they interrupted a party with a Gong to sit down and whatever it was they were doing. Too much hippie slash cult, new age for my taste. Who in their right minds would stop a party to meditate? :)

Come on! what does so much people have agianst the spirituality in goa scene??

Are you saying these things like meditating doesn't have any effect or do you thinks this effect is not worth it or are you protesting against the link between spirituality and goa trance?

Well I think this music is fundamentally psychedellic and there is a link between psychedelic things and spirituality right? I think listening seriuosly to music is a form of spirituality= exercise of the mind

So fuck yeah I would like modern goa scene to be more spiritual! What can you possibly have agianst that???

I would like it if there was a meditation pauze in the partys these days (and I am a verry down to earth guy :) )

as long as that spirituality doesn't become mysticism or religious offcourse

  7. well on thing where the newschool period seems to be better than the old days is that the newschool compilation almost always have original tracklist without songs being previously released. There just that few oldschool compilations with a complete original tracklist.... But that's not a characteristic of the music itself offcourse...

With me I still have to fight over allot of prejudice from my side to newschool there is quite some good stuff out there but most stuff isn't really my taste

but there are allready some newschool cds that are classics to me The ones I will force up to my children :)

    Khetzal

    ka-sol

    Ra!

So a little waiting till the spectrum of newschool expands a little more and than all the freaks will/schould be happy :)

  8. mmm great song! thanks for letting us know !

its strange, chaotic, fast beat, it got some old hardtrance influences I think even some core elements like trancecore or something..... quite unique I guess the length allready makes it rather unique

it variates allot several dreamy moments

I can't really make my mind up allready on wether I like it Some moments seem cheesy but a minute later it sounds awesome again...

  9. O-OW not this discussion again :P

I guess what they mean is music that doesn't focus on pure melodies but on athmospheres on structures maybe even on concepts :) and offcourse that music is in most cases darker then the melodic stuff....

  10. Are you talking seriously .... (please more info about this)

That's very good news, indeed that's the best news recently, yeah!!! BOTFB again can't wait to listen to it, and of course KA Sol is always welcome :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

  12. well I can understand... If you pack the cd and artwork properly (waterproof bag, carboard and bubblewrap) it's a great (and save) way to save money I Allready spend enough money on shippingcosts. So certainly if you know the shipping costs of Canada (that's where zen lives right?) There doesn't seem to be a reason not to choose yewelcase free shipping..

    peace! :)

  14. Taken from: http://www.discogs.com/groups/topic/203432

I did that in accordance of the artists because it's our only way to reverse the damages people like YOU do when you get our music

lossless and spread it for FREE on Torrents websites.

So our ideas, as artists to REVERSE this situation is to sell old unreleased music and demo's for instance time to time

to people who work and have money to collect rarities.

Those guys are happy to pay for an expensive record and are sure to participate to make the scene growing, the

artists happy, knows that the money is deserved, add a nice rare item in their collection and are sure that the money

    returns to artists DIRECTLY.

I don't know anything about the argument between these 2 persons but I want to ask why you (dj zen and so many others) care about keeping these things rare ... Couldn't you sell these cd at a normal price (I am talking now about these reprints/rewrites you make with permission of the artist)? There are allot of guys out there who would like this music in a legal way, but don't care for shit if these things are rare. So why not simply re-relese these things at a larger quantity so I can buy these things for 10-15 euros. (This has happened for allot of things luckely)

Just all the colecting rare things freakishness aaaaarghhhhh I wish it would be about the fucking music with some of you people ... same with the unreleased-stuff dirty little world, but i but I guess thats also the fault of some of the artists who want to keep there things "mistyque" or am I wrong?

now I read about the "autographed cds".... Come on ... thats plain stupid idolatry....

  15. Wait...I thought it was:

    02 (08:00) Crossing Mind - Psy Crise

    --

    05 (28:30) Psychopod - Friagram

    --

    11 (59:30) Afgin - Journey through Acid

    Does anyone agree?

    yeah i agree ! :)

on track 2 thats what psy crise sounds withs me anyway maybe the track names got mixed up ...

    and 5 is friagram indeed

and 4 sounds like cyclone in your heart to me to altough its speeded up allot

edit: I don't know the khetzal remix though but track four sounds veeerrrrry much like whats called Crossing Mind - Cyclone in Your Heart with me
