Featuring tracks from pioneering artists including Extrawelt, Ace Ventura, Max Cooper, Kamikaze Space Programme, Gaudi & Adamski, Dickster, Callide, DJ Rashad and many more this album showcases the sound of the headliners at this summer's festival! With the award-winning Secret Productions in charge of production you can expect nothing short of an electric eden. EXCLUSIVE ONE-OFF PERFORMANCE FROM: TWISTED SOUND SYSTEM – DEX N FX SPECIAL RAJA RAM, SIMON POSFORD & BENJI VAUGHAN FEATURING THE MUSIC OF SHPONGLE, HALLUCINOGEN, YOUNGER BROTHER & PROMETHEUS *ADDED TO ORIGIN STAGE FOR GLADE 2012* + 3D FUNKTION-ONE SOUND, INSPIRAL CHILL OUT LOUNGE, LIQUID WOODLAND STAGE, MULTISENSORY ART, HEALING FIELDS, PRISTINE COUNTRYSIDE 4 DAYS – 10,000 PEOPLE – 24HR VENUES TICKETS FROM £135 FULL DETAILS HERE: http://bit.ly/GladeTwistedNews Glade Festival is proud to announce the addition of not one, not two but THREE of the true pioneers of the psychedelic sound; Raja Ram, Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan join forces to present the Twisted Sound System in a very RARE special two-hour show prepared exclusively Glade 2012. Headlining the Friday night on the Origin Stage Twisted Sound System are, between them, responsible for ground-breaking music including Shpongle, Hallucinogen, Younger Brother, Prometheus and many other musically defining projects. We’re pleased to announce that they are currently locked in the studio preparing this special one off set featuring synths, laptops, drum machines and much more for a psychedelic journey as never seen or heard before. Simon Posford is one of the most influential artists in the psychedelic scene. Under the name Hallucinogen, he defined the Goa trance sound with the track LSD, taken from the 1995 album Twisted. In 1996, Simon launched Twisted Records, which is one of the most important trance imprints in the world. After releasing his second album The Lone Deranger in 1997 Simon began collaborating with Raja on Shpongle and went on to produce a trilogy of genre defining downtempo albums. Simon also performed in live outfit Younger Brother with the third member of the Twisted Records Sound System, Benji Vaughan. From blazing the hippie trail in the sixties through Goa and beyond, founding psychedelic rock band Quintessence and performing at the first two Glastonbury Festivals, Australian-born Raja Ram is known as one of the founding fathers of the psychedelic trance movement. After a brief hiatus, he returned to the music scene at the birth of acid house and alongside Graham Wood and Ian St Paul, launched TIP Records which later became TIP World, one of the most well-known psy-trance labels in the world. Raja Ram is one half of Shpongle alongside Simon Posford. He is also part of 1200 Mics alongside Ibiza-trance legends Riktam & Bansi AKA Growling Mad Scientists. Benji Vaughan is most well known for his solo project Prometheus which is signed to Twisted Records. As Prometheus he has released three killer albums: Robot O Chan, Corridor Of Mirrors and Spike A word from Shpongle ringmaster Raja Ram: Like a blind man in a dark room trying to describe an elephant, or a neutrino making love to an electron, some things are hard to describe in detail, the sun dazzling on white snow, the smile of a loved on, or the grace of a tortoise on opium bedecked with and precious jewels. A probe into the unconsciousness swirl of the imagination, laced with ginger and honeysuckle, these are a few of my favourite blings, a super nova concoction of old new and future, laced with a drop of the good stuff. The set will be like three madmen sailing off in the middle of the night in a small boat without a compass, semi dangerous, not for the faint hearted or incontinent, a bare knuckle flight to unreality and back, super turbo charged, size thirteen shoes and an attitude to match. These are the cosmic three scientists of sound manipulation, sonic strangulation, loose underpants, and an enormous arsenal of sounds from the last 20 years of working together and the next 20 years of sorting out our differences, which are the same. A treat for sure, the unexpected, The Gollom in the attic, the Robot in the suitcase. This is a night to really shake the follicle of the bollicules, so try to forget to remember to forget, wake up dreaming, and come to the mightiest sound collage since the banning of sea shanties and Tibetan horns. Prometheus will set the fire, we will Hallucinate you, and Shpongle-ise you... surprise you... The Secret Garden Party production team have given the digital arts on site at the festival a new lease of life, with artists such as Polyphant (http://www.polyphant.tv/) commissioned to design a bespoke immersive environment where he will be blurring the boundaries between architecture, light and space. More bespoke installations will be announced soon. The original independent dance music festival, The Glade, is a totally immersive experience the beautiful countryside meets beautiful beats, where you can party until dawn without disturbance and without a care. Houghton Hall in Norfolk is one of the few places in the UK where such an experience can be had. No matter which community or tribe, all are invited to come together and participate in this never-to-be-forgotten four-day celebration. It is your very own electric Eden. So what are you waiting for… With an incredible rural site, burning stages, woodland parties 3D Funktion-one sound system, and pioneering collectives & labels representing every electronic genre over 14 stages showcasing hundreds of DJs and live acts from around the globe, Glade 2012 is set to become the must-go-to festival for all lovers of underground electronic music. It was the desire to have a proper psychedelic outdoor dance floor in the UK that IGNITED the touch paper that became the Glade. An explosion of open-minded, friendly and alternative music and culture… Expanding on this we bring into the fold not only two other stages but a wealth of traders, healers, freaks and crazy colourful characters from around the globe forming the heart of international psychedelic culture. Glade 2012 is proud to properly introduce THE PSYCHEDELIC VILLAGE and we have got some really exciting stuff going down... Over the last 7 years Ozora Festival in Hungary became THE psychedelic festival on the planet. It was conceived, organised and built by a team led by a man named Balazs from 2005 until last year. We’ve always had a strong relationship with him and this year are delighted to have him and his team co-produce the village with us and TOGETHER WITH Nano Records, who this year will be CELEBRATING their 10-year birthday party at Glade. There’s a lot of love, experience and magic being thrown at this. For example, one thing we’re working on is the creative use of the Funktion One ambisonic sound system on Origin. With selected artists working at the Funktion One labs there will be live performances properly developed especially with the 3 dimensional aspect of the rig for the first time ever…. This is pushing sonic boundaries like you won’t have experienced before… So… with the Origin stage, the return of the beloved LIQUID STAGE (set outdoors, in the woods and playing well beyond sunrise!!!) and Inspiral laying down the beats in all their beautiful form, the Psychedelic Village is the festival within the festival. The line up is not YET complete and we still have some really exciting acts to confirm but as you can already see, the plethora of musicians playing across the village means we’re going to be absolutely rocking. There will be special performances from the Nano Records stable (including Tristan, Killerwatts, Avalon, Laughing Buddha, Dickster, Ans & Regan and more) as well as from the likes of Ott, Rinkadink, Ace Ventura, Liquid Soul, Zen Mechanics, Logic Bomb, Solar Fields, Dr Alex Paterson, Absolom and loads and loads more from across the globe. We are also super excited about Max Cooper who will be closing Origin on Sunday with his super cerebral techno and will bring a mind blowing, forward thinking CLIMAX to this edition of the Glade’s psychedelic experience…GLADE IS BACK… YOU BETTER GET READY The UK’s most diverse and creatively delivered electronic music event, Glade returns with a bang in 2012. Having enjoyed a hugely successful worldwide career spanning over 30 years, Sven is one of the founders of German techno and a driving force behind electronic dance music with his infamous Cocoon label, parties and nightclub. Famous for his marathon club-sets at Berlin’s notorious Dorian Grey to weekly parties in Ibiza to a non-stop global tour schedule, we are very pleased to welcome Sven to Glade. Sven Vath said of performing: ‘I'm really looking forward to performing at this year's Glade Festival! I've heard a lot about this event, that it is a serious music lovers' festival with a great line up and most of all I'm looking forward to DJing in the great English countryside.’ Joint headlining is Drum & Bass hero Andy C who presents his jaw-dropping Alive stage show. Having spear-headed the scene since the early 90’s, Andy and his Ram Records label have been at the forefront of this UK dance explosion. His Alive show will see a unique audio / visual extravaganza closing the festival on Sunday. Joining these two prolific artists and rounding off our headliners is French techno don Vitalic, a man who has been decimating dance floors across the globe since the late 90s with his unique brand of electronic funk on labels such as International DJ Gigalo and PIAS. Elsewhere on the line up we see a quality mixture of proper electronic music taking in the progressive from the sublime Robert Babicz, techno from German scene-leaders Marc Romboy and Extrawelt. Drum n Bass is represented by UK duo Drumsound and Bassline Smith whilst Rusko brings the Dubstep and Radio 1 DJ and Sheffield’s pin up Toddla T joins Don Letts for a dub, reggae and beyond set on Sunday. The Glade Stage also represents live music with US sensation Pretty Lights performing alongside festival stalwarts The Dub Pistols and British hip-hop, grime and dubstep super group Foreign Beggars. With plenty more talent performing and another exclusive headliner yet to be announced, expect nothing but the best, whatever the genre - all weekend. PSYCHEDELIC VILLAGE The Glade is proud to call itself the UK’s spiritual home of psychedelic culture and the Psychedelic Village is a celebration of this. With the mighty Origin Stage at the heart of this area playing host to Nano Records 10th Birthday Party and much more powered by glorious Funktion 1, this stage will be banging come rain or shine. This year we are more than chuffed to welcome back the Liquid Stage, which will run from dusk til dawn in our beautiful new forest area (more on that below…) and playing host to the cream of the UK scene. Providing respite from the onslaught of EDM no Glade would be complete without InSpiral who this year focus on chillout with a superb line up to make your journey complete. This year we also welcome the team that built the incredible Ozora festival over the past seven years to join us. They will be helping with the décor and production throughout the Village and much more. Elsewhere expect healing areas, a psychedelic cinema, World Shift, talks, art, food and so much more… Come and join us. This is going to be proper… it really is. NEW WOODED AREA! That’s right… we’ve got a lovely wooded area for you to play in this year! The wooded area will play host to two stages; the Liquid Stage and our new open-air dance floor The Meteor that lies in a crater inside the forest. More on that to follow in future announcements! Elsewhere expect hot tubs, spas and many more treats. OTHER ARENAS ANNOUNCED OVERKILL RETURNS! The Overkill Arena returns to play, bringing with it the brashest, loudest drum & bass, gabba, dubstep, hardcore, rave, experimental …and beyond. Last year this venue played host to some of the most exciting and just plain bonkers names in electronica and 2012 will be no different… keep your eyes and ears open for future announcements. BETA Our new talent stage plays host to some of the most exciting new talent in the land. We’re keeping this one under wraps at present but think outdoor, pyramid, DJ… more to come. With a line up of quality drum and bass, dubstep, bass and beyond laid on by these three prolific promoters, this will be THE place to pull your bass face. THE RABBIT HOLE One of the highlights of 2011, The Rabbit Hole played host to chaos all weekend long. 5. IBOGA RECORDS PRESENTS: EVERLASTING Selected and mixed by GAUDI Iboga Records kicks off 2012, with ‘Everlasting’ – a compilation selected and mixed by Gaudi of exclusive new and unreleased tracks from an international group of artists who have defined, not only a genre but an era in electronic music – a who’s who’s of the movers and shakers including The Orb, System 7, Eat Static, Trentemoller and Lulu Rouge. Put simply over 2 hours of immaculately produced and sonically stimulation deep moody electro. Iboga’s aim, through this compilation, was to set a milestone in the extensive landscape of electronic music; to present an original and timeless collection of tracks from some of the most talented artists the scene has to offer. Sonic freethinker Gaudi steps up to the mark, once again proving his credentials as a skilled man of music and has, most importantly, properly addressed the two major keystones of a successful compilation without compromising one or the other - the names and the vision of the listening experience. Collectively the influence of the artists in this compilation have spanned the last 40 years of electronic music and it is nothing if not testament to their skills that they are still leading the field! The Orb who forever changed the face of electronic dance music and System 7, pioneers of early experimental electronica, both instrumental in the birth of electronic chill out, sit alongside Gaudi the musical chameleon - who’s been kicking down the genre walls for the last 30 years. Psychedelic pioneers Eat static and Shpongle who have grown a cult following around their distinctive brands of psychedelic journeying feature well with fellow compatriot Tripswitch - king of the well sculpted psychedelic smooth-groove. In collaboration with Shpongle is The Alan Parson’s Project - bringing long established and highly respected production skills to the table. The inclusion of Dub legend and the maverick in the pack Mad Professor adds an elegantly placed other dimension to the collection as well as an important nod of respect to the genre of Dub to which Electro-chill owes so much. Tipper, a man responsible for expanding sound with his trademark exquisite production and emotive sonic mastery and Pete Namlook - highly acclaimed and ever prolific ambient producer feature with Lamb who's loyal and almost cult following has seen them weather the storms over the last 15 years in the evolution of their sound. One of New Zealands most notable musical exports Pitch Black add their distinctive dubbed out bass vibes to the pot along with Athenian bass-man and protagonist of all things dub and electro Vlastur. Screen (a side project of the Orb’s Alex Paterson, Gaudi & veteran UK ‘scenester’ Chester) stamp their mark with their well honed yet reassuringly edgy sound and fly the flag for London alongside enigmatic production duo and relentless frequency foragers Vacuum Science and Capes - with his deftly delivered spacious raga infused dubstep. An always innovative and distinctively atmospheric Scandinavian sound is extremely well represented in the hands of Denmark’s Lulu Rouge. Trentemøller - the man with a sonic vision and a particular skill in delivering it sits alongside Sweden’s Krusseldorf - who’s incredibly diverse works range from industrial experimental ambient to classical. Funsui (the new project from Paolo Polcari) also appears and leaves us with no question as to why his is known as a king of the cinematic sound. Variant Field, the US collaborative project between Amani (of Desert Dwellers) and Alex DeYoung, open this epic journey with ‘Fields Of Variance’. Also from the US is fellow sound evolutionary Bird of Prey adding a solid punch with his spacious electro-dub vibes. Gaudi has also added a special extra depth dimension of his own in the form of two of his new remixes (done especially for the comp) of two great heavyweights - The Orb and Trentemøller - neither need introduction and the impressive tracks also speak for themselves! It is a long and impressive list but Everlasting is much, much more than that ..it is an inspiring, engaging and first-rate listen. 11. We make it our business to bring you innovative and ground breaking line-ups. So look no further than this week, the finest trance with that ‘psy’ edge to keep it interesting! Give a warm Gallery welcome to ASTRAL PROJECTION. Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmutter have been around since 1993, coming to London town to showcase their cutting edge sound. Joining them is JOHN 00 FLEMING, one of trance’s favourite sons. No rest for Mr Fleming as he takes to the decks again with producer Ricky Smith, under their 00DB alias. The live shows just HAVE to be seen! Mr ASKEW and THE VICEROY bring the curtain down on the party. ‘Astral Projection’ is outlined by the Oxford English dictionary as ‘an out of body experience.’ In terms of the Israeli duo, their music can also be compared to the definition status quo. Responsible for bringing Goa trance to the masses – when the genre was still in its infancy. Their sound has been refined and tweaked over many years, to now encompass what is good and great about electronic music. A sharp, cutting edge approach which has succeeded to blur the boundaries of mainstream and underground. Tunes with that ‘psy’ edge that serve to bring together all lovers of trance, to dance in harmony together! With the world renowned Gallery lasers, production, sound and visuals – make sure you don’t miss the Astral magic! John 00 Flemming is a ubiquitous character, with gigs that spanned Canada, Russia, Belgium, Poland, Australia, and Bali this Summer. Having re-invented his sound with a more cutting edge, psychedelic sound, J00F’s resolve not to ‘pigeon hole’ himself – has only increased the affinity with fans. Flemming quite simply plays the music he likes. A passion reflected by an exuberance behind the decks – that never fails to rub off on the crowd! One thinks the title of latest single ‘New Beginning,’ is a firm statement of intent, a sign of the new direction that J00F is taking the scene. The tune itself mirrors this, hypnotic and airy – with progressive and ‘psy’ inferences. With the ‘Global Trance Grooves’ radio show growing from strength to strength – and a July launch of the groundbreaking ‘Editions’ tour, the scene is set perfectly for J00F to steal the Gallery show. Together with ‘Digital Blonde’ (or Ricky Smith to his friends), J00F returns to the DJ booth as ‘00DB.’ Riding high on their 2009 success, the second part of their album ‘Heaven & Hell’ was released on a double CD & USB stick. Who can forget their remake of Jean Michel Jarre’s classic ‘Oxygene’ and now we see more breathless productions. ‘Sunburn’ was inspired by their live performance at India’s Sunburn festival, making the single shortly after the plane landed back home! Solamata takes things dark with a haunting progressive monster! Expect more of the same to rock the dancefloor on Friday! Gallery residencies are not offered to any DJ, meaning John Askew must be hot property. His ‘tech trance’ style is the foundation for productions, recently working on lots of new material - including a remix for Activa, plus singles for John O Callaghan’s ‘Subculture’ and ‘Aly & Fila’s’ imprint . Askew also excels in his sets, with wizardry behind the decks. He has a knack of creating those classic ‘reach for the laser’ moments – with tunes not necessarily considered classic anthems. But the ultimate judge is the crowd. With the dancefloor always hanging attentively on every beat, Askew is without doubt a class act. Head honcho TALL PAUL ventures next door for one of his legendary 103 outings, ably supported by rising star JASON CORTEZ and the charismatic J JOY. With house of this calibre, it will be melting hot stuff indeed! The Monte Gelato area is located between the two historical villages of Mazzano Romano and Calcata where the Treja River flows along its territory, creating small healthy swimming waterfalls. With its lush greenery and aged trees, this area is renowned for its natural beauty. Easily located from Rome (45KM) and 5 KM’s from the historic village of Clacata, built on volcanic cliffs and overtaken by Italian artists in the 60’s who restored the ancient town making it a truly inspired visit. [ATTRACTIONS] Nocturnal performances with fire-works, acrobatics, visual shows, dancing, alternative paintings, bio-installations, meetings and open-air cinema concerning the main festival themes are all planned alongside healing practices including massages and meditation, bio and healthy food plus an international flea-market, all involving the eco-sustainability program where possible.
