I remember getting positive feedback here on a chill track of mine a while back, so I thought I'd post this one as well. It's not psydub/ambient per se, but there should be enough psychedelia to occupy your drugged up minds. ;) (<-- see how fucked up I look after listening to it?)

Comments/feedback appreciated. Oh and one other thing: do you usually get comfortable bandwidth when listening to my tracks? 'Cause I know I hate to stream anything from slow servers.

2. I am not the one coming here and bragging about anything...

Most of today's psy trance and mainstream mastering engineers pushing the overall signal up as high as possible without hitting the distortion point. Take any of the recently (5 years let's say) mastered CD's and you'll hear that the dynamics is pretty static. The reason the mastering is done so is in order to be loud as possible in Radio transmissions and in Clubs/Parties. Sometimes the single version of a track is louder than the album version. It goes through additional mastering to raise the chances it's accepted well in the Radio.

Look, I haven't bragged about anything here. I never was completely serious about posting here in the first place.

I don't see what's your point is in this post and I really don't see what did I ever post that contradicts what you said. Even so, what you said is reasonably accurate at best.

Now, if you're pissed off about what I said to Mike A, all I can say is that's what I usually do when people come trolling at me.

3. Fallible science is no substitute for Omnipotent Faith. You indeed have lost the Divine Guidance, heretic. :P

Neither track looks as dramatic in Goldwave:

The fact is that their music is intense and multi-layered full-on goa, and it doesn't have as many calmer sections as for example Hallucinogen. If there is overcompression and limiting, it's not that bad IMO. There's still dynamics in the music and I can forgive them because of their musical excellence.

620295

I'm sure they wouldn't. I just wanted to pick the most offending parts of the track.

IMO overcompression is particularly bad in full on goa tracks because they're very hard to mix in the first place. And let's face it: you really don't need all that volume for anything. Of course one could argue that overcompression is part of the sound, what makes it so full on. To me it just makes the busiest parts sound messy and plain unpleasant to listen to.

do you like what you listen?pleiadians that is.

if you do,then spare us the bullshit about these graphs.no offense. ;)

i don't care about these details my friend.

in terms of composition, sound engineering and effect over the human mind and psyche these cds are state of the art...

620299

I like some of their tracks, specifically from FOL, where the mastering isn't that bad. If you find IFO enjoyable as it is, that's great, you should. Personally I always wondered why I never could like the sound of IFO until I took a look at the graphs.

Anyway, the flames have got way out of hand considering that my post was meant to be only a half-joking piss take on explaining why I can't like it.

4. 99% of todays mainstream/underground music have the same dynamics. If you want dynamics you should look for it in Classic music or in Jazz.

620253

Which is a shame. Welcome to the loudness race.

The fact is though that a good mastering engineer can make a mix with even little headroom sound like it breaths. IMO that's where IFO's gone wrong.

what a load of crap

620255

You are intelligent.
5. Blasphemy! Officers of the Institution of Dogmatic Purity of Trance will visit your place soon to take you to the Institution's Correction Department for re-education.

No, wait. I have proof.

Now, my question to you, ladies and gentlemen, is how can you have power in music without dynamics?

6. Now to my question, does anyone want to make a logo for us? The logo should be simple, it should contain the text NEO OR New Electronic Order, and it has to be able to work on both Black and White and Color. It has to be able to be clear and readable even in smaller sizes.

This is quiete a challenge I would say!

As our budget is pretty tight at the startup of this project, we can not offer big amounts of money, but we CAN offer a very big exposure for the person that makes the one Logo that we are going to use.

You got someone working on this already? I've been playing around with vector graphics for a while and it'd be nice to see my work put into good use.
7. Since labels aren't releasing any music this year, (just random noises with kick drum ) :P I'm uploading this on my minisite. Maybe that way somebody can enjoy it.

Get it here.

Comments and feedback appreciated. Tips as to what labels might be interested in releasing this kind of sound would be cool too.

EDIT: Since no one seems to care, I'll just list the tracks here.

1. Not Quite Dawn Yet (12:55)

8. Meh. I've always found it pretty much completely unenjoyable.

I never could get quite into it, wondered why that is. Until I loaded Electra up in Sound Forge that is.

Some screenies for your enjoyment:

9. Thanks for the feedback.

i agree with supergroover its sound alot more like minimal techno than anything else with a little bit of chill influences nice track though really nice tune

While I'd agree that it sounds more like deep techno than anything else, it doesn't really progress like techno; the ideas I had for this track weren't ones you'd find in a typical techno track either.

This is very cool indeed. I agree with Nemo, it could work on the chill floor quite well - at first I thought it was a bit too 'minimal' but then the track developed and developed - great progression. Sounds like it came straight off a compilation.  :)

More of this please!  :D

599687

Certainly, sir.

I'm currently experimenting with this sound more, so I'm sure there'll be some few tracks I'll upload eventually.

10. Whoa. That was quick.

Thanks for the comments!

I would rather say its experimental trance or something. I dont hear the typical "progressive" or "psychedelic" elements in it. It has some very nice moments, but it is for ME not for the dancefloor.

597479

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I personally think there's some elements in the synths that are typical of prog psy, but it's necessarily not the same sound that's going on in the scene at the moment, methinks.

The reason I call my music psychedelic trance is because, well, trance has always been a psychedelic thing for me. And by trance I mean the state of mind. And that's what I want to do with my music, I want it to be entrancing.

But taking a look back at prog sound's history, we've got albums like Atmos' Headcleaner. By today's standards there aren't many people who'd call it progressive psy, but that's where the genre derives from. And in reality, had it been created today, there wouldn't be much chance of it getting released on a prog psy label. *shudders at the thought*

But I digress. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Nemo. :)

11. WARNING! DEEP BASS IMMINENT!

Quality headphones recommended for listening.

So. Not much to say here. A new project, started it this spring. Mostly producing progressive psy with techy edge. To quote myself:

Proggydelic psytrance act from the heart of Helsinki-city, Microtheft, concentrates on creating smooth and hypnotic rhythms. Drawing inspiration from psychedelic ambient, microhouse and deep minimal techno among other things, the original idea of the project was to mix morning trance with electro house and see where it would get us.

The curious name of the project is not as one could perceive it, commentary on piracy issues, but rather the style of music produced; micro, a reference to the minimal percussion used as well as its micro house inspired roots. Theft, a reference to its supposed entrancing potential, as in "mind theft".

Microtheft@Mikseri.net

There's a couple of tracks there. The one I'd like comments on is "The Last Days". Want contract anylabel.

Thanks for your time.

12. Beatiful track  ;)

544105

You made this in one night ?  That's imppressive...

Anyway the track is really nice, i'd like to hear more like this.

544560

Thanks for the feedback people!

Yeah, I pretty much made the whole thing overnight, apart from some compression and normalizing before uploading it. I don't usually work in this genre, so it might take a while before you hear more goa from me. I've been working on some progressive that I'm looking to get released, though, but I doubt you'd be interested in that.

Glad you liked it, though. :)
