  1. The Darkness remix is the best Ticon according to you?

I don't know so much from Ticon, but there's stuff from them that I like better ... Some Simple Sounds for example...

I'm a sucker for a simple, non-cheesy, effective melodic hook. The only other one of their tracks that comes close for me is "Texas Magnusson". Both of those tracks make me feel easy like a 5 dolla east-side crackwhore. :o "Darkness" takes the cake, though, since the melody is a bit more sinister and stringy. I was actually quite pissed that nobody played it at Voov 2004 (at least that I heard) when it was brand new and *should* have been waaaay overplayed. Although it's probably a damn good thing since I surely would have wet myself on the dancefloor, rather embarassingly.

It takes a very special track to make me lose control of my excretory functions. :P

  2. You mean the Tribal Thing/Tuf Tuf/Tiger Inside vinyl, huh?

I checked samples of that ... I like the sound of Tribal Thing best :P ... is the piece worth getting?

Nah, I'm referring to the "Bayo" vinyl that came out last year on ACDC. It's not so deep from what I remember, but was a cool tribal chanting sort of thing. Check it out - I'm sure there are samples somewhere. I guess it was one of those records that passed through my case in the span of about 2 months, so it must not have been too overly memorable. ;)

I like the original version of Darkness better than the Ticon remix because the Ticon remix is too trancy and sounds too stressed to me, you know ... the original has a sort of deeper progression and clubby feeling to it, which is what I like so much in that song and which is not present in the remix...

I personally dig the stressed tranciness of the Ticon remix. It's got that elegant dark little melodic hook that just knocks me on my ass every time I hear it. I love the way it just smoothly builds into this absolute monster of a track. It's one of the most explosive progressive tracks evargh, IMO. :D For me, it's the best thing Ticon ever produced, which is saying a lot since I'm a complete fiend for their music. I'm really surprised that it didn't get played out much more...come to think of it, I think the only times I've ever heard it in a party is when I play it.

I will have to give the original mix a closer listen, though. I'm much more into deeper sounding music than when I first bought the record 2+ years ago, so it will probably be more my style now.

BTW, the guy behind the Chris Pointdexter project also produces under the name "Playmaker". I think that sound is more house-oriented, based on what I've read in biographies, but I haven't heard for myself. Might be worth checking out.

  3. Friday 25th May 2007

    Twisted LIVE in Concert

Simon Posford - Shpongle DJ set

Younger Brother LIVE - (Album Launch)

    Hallucinogen in DUB - LIVE

Ott - LIVE (2nd Album Preview)

    Prometheus - LIVE

    Koxbox - LIVE (new material)

    Eat Static - LIVE

OK, consider me officially tempted. Actually, more than just tempted. :D Unless some major financial disaster or an unavoidable trip at the same time comes up, I'll be there. :) I'm not usually a fan of so many live sets, but when it's Eat Static, Koxbox, Ott (I guess he's doing both the Ott set and the Hallucinogen in Dub set?), I can't complain too much.

  4. theres no need to nuke eastern germany, its shit anyway, even without nuclear holocaust :P

    :(

It's sad because you are right!

my vote goes for midimiliz first two albums, spirallianz both albums and deltas both albums, aswell as to irritant B)

now, tell me, how COOL am i ?

...and how exceptionally good is my taste B)?

    I. Want. Irritant. But I can't find it for the life of me. :(

You are a great wise man krelmatrix

I just type what the voices in my head tell me to type. They are the wise ones. I am simply a monkey in front of a keyboard...a monkey with exceptionally good taste in music, just like reger. :P

  5. Simon is just more popular because he makes commercial music that sounds like Brittney Spears or MC Hammer.

Arne Schaffhausen is the real underground.

(waiting for posford fanboys to launch a nuke at eastern Germany :P )

I've really developed a huge appreciation for the genius of Midi Miliz in the last couple weeks. I pulled out all of my old and new tektrance CDs (both Midi Miliz, the first Delta, latest X-Dream, Triac, Opsis) and have been listening constantly. My flatmate has even been infected and yesterday declared Midi Miliz as geniuses. :D I just wish I could find my copy of the Spirallianz album...I'm afraid it is sitting in a box in Dallas right now. :(

  6. theres just one little problem - you pm people calling their mothers nasty names first, and after youve done so you block them so they cant reply ;)

so wheres the logic, wheres the joke?

Holy shit, he just did that to me! :D Well, he didn't insult my mom, but he wrote me a desperately-trying-to-be-insulting private message (which was quite funny in broken German), but has me on his blocked list so I couldn't respond. Fucking. Stellar.

It's sort of like the tiny puppy that sits in the 2nd floor window, barking threateningly at everybody as they walk by. It's ferocious as long as it's safely out of everbody's reach. :D This guy needs a fan club. ;)

  7. There are ban-list flash-mobs at blog communities. What about a free CD give-away lottery among members of Rez' ban-list or something?

fantastic idea! Maybe faze could give a double-chance for one of the free CDs in his Christmas CD giveaway topic to every member who is on Rezi6404's banlist?

  8. Spot on! The mention of ignored members in the signature is also a fine touch.

Yes. I wonder how many more users it will have to be before it falls outside of the signature length limit?

it's just a reminder :) i think is much more hillarious that u can't understand that btw..

Oh, I understand completely - and it's still fuggin' hilarious. Unintentional irony is usually the best kind of humor.

  9. what are u try to tell me? is it necessary to login every time? guest is forbidden? u better laugh for yr self if u not have enough to understand some things.

Let me lay it out simply for you. The irony of the fact that you make extra effort to read and reply to the posts of those members you have in your ignore list is hilarious. What is the point in having them in your ignore list (and mentioning it all of the time) if you aren't really ignoring them?

  10. p.s i was connected as guest..ur still in my ignore list ;)

What the hell is the point of the ignore list if you are not only going to log in as guest to read their posts anyways, but are even going to quote and reply to them? Not only is it not ignoring them at all, but you are even forcing yourself to do more work to actually read and reply to them.

    Astounding logic, simply astounding.

Is it your playful way of flirting with the members that you have a crush on or something? I think it's going to be a little harder than that to get pr0fane in the sack.

  12. My feelings of nostalgia come mostly from the feeling of excitement and newness that the music gave me when I was first hearing it, rather than a particular style/sound. When I hear something like Total Eclipse - Waiting For a New Life, I don't think "Hey, this is an awesome track!" so much as I flash back to the first times I heard the track on a random copied tape a friend of mine had (one of the two times in my life when I can literally pinpoint a major mental shift), and the first time I finally ran across the a CD in the store that had the track, after months of searching. I don't "miss" the sound, because I still have all of the CDs in my collection and can pull them out anytime I want. B) I do look back fondly on the time of my life when I was first discovering old-skool goa, so I get those nostalgic feelings from that whole experience, rather than a particular sound.

But I guess my first exposure was to more melodic sounds (I don't think there was very much twisted stuff out there yet in '95/96?), so the short answer to your question would have to be melodic style. ;)

  13. Any favorite songs by the way?

Sticking with the Live 93 theme, I'd have to say that Plateau and Valley are my favorites. This is one case where I am not ashamed to admit that my taste in Orb tracks is most likely very related to the drug experiences I've had with these particular ones. ;)

I caught the Orb live only once - I forget the year, but it was somewhere around '98 or so...forget which tour it was. I was expecting some sort of complete stoner vibe in the concert (somewhere around 2000 people present), but they managed to transform the songs into extremely danceable material, and really had the crowd moving for a good portion of the show. I remember jamming out to a song at one point and suddenly realizing that it was a semi-uptempo version of Plateau. Absolutely wonderful.

Now you've motivated me - I think I'm going to listen to Live 93 and Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld tonight. ;)
