  1. Cool, heard great things about adam as well :) I listened to the A7'w down in a store, he wanted to sell me the KRK VXT6, so I asked him to compare them... The diskant was MUCH more clear on the adam's... But it's the lower frequencies i'm worried about, read several times they are a little week in the "bass department"

Since you seem like you have a pretty good understanding in how this works, I noticed the frequency range being 46hz-35khz... They don't reproduce a correct signal at the sub freqs then? And they go much higher than, for example the VXT6's that only goes to 23khz as far as I recall... But we can't hear freq's over 20khz so why even bother make them go so high? Don't really understand

I have a pair of Adam A7, and it's true it doesn't go very low and the basses aren't mad loud. But they are very clear, clean and present. You'll have to get used to it. You might mix the bass too loud at the beginning, but if you compare with other sound system, you'll get used to how much bass you need to put.

And I'm very happy with them :)

    Anyone going?

  3. I'm looking for more funny movies, but not slapstick, rather funny british stuff style Monty Python or Fawlty Towers :D Help me (Bottom was ok as well)

    Black Adder

it has all the greatest British comedian: Rowan Atkison, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie

  4. I like the idea a lot. I'm using live 7 and I think I still have live 6 somewhere(but 7 is much better). I think we shouldn't make a part each, but allow everyone to mess with the stuff that has already been made so that the transitions between users won't be that obvious.

    yes that's what i meant.

As sequencer I would suggest Logic & Ableton but I'm open to other things.

As for plugins, Albino 3 and Vanguard

  5. Yes. I prefer the Idea of laying down a simple structure then we gradually add instruments/fx to it

Also we have to be clear on who is working when on the song. It'd be stupid for two person to work on it at the same time, the merging would be a pain in the ass.

Actually I don't really know how to use Ableton :-). Maybe Fruity Loops then? What are the limitation on the demo? I see the express version is pretty cheap, or I might just do a search on google

  6. Yes they are several variations on this idea. I've listened to the Slsknet album like this and it's brilliant! I prefer the 3 day idea as it enables to refine what's been already done and you can focus on parts of the production you like and you're good at (melodies, mixing, bass, drums, ...).

I'm guessing the majority of people have PC, so maybe ableton would be the best solution due to its popularity. For the VSTs I can safely assume everyone has Albino 3. For the effects there are tones of free and high quality stuff.

It can be a great way also to see how other people work to give ideas for your own production. Music productions need to be more open!

  7. I was thinking we could maybe create a track with several people. The idea would be one starts a track and passes it around however wants to add something to it. Who would be interested?

I guess we would need to agree on a DAW, synth, style, bpm, ...

I use Logic 8 and Ableton 6, but I can get any free DAW out there. Maybe we can only use free synth (of course you can record whatever you want and add it as audio) and free effects?

Then the style something not to exentric with a bpm of 142 of something like that.

We could do something like 3 days per person so we can have as many participant as possible. Of course you can't create the whole track and just need to add, modify a few things here and there and avoid changing the kick/bass everytime, things like that.

    What do you guys think?

  8. I don't have any portable player or hi-fi, just my computer. I don't like listening to music while traveling or working. So a few hours ( like 2-3 ) a day when I'm at home, on my bed or on a sofa doing mindless things like surfing the web, smoking, chilling with some friends... But it's mainly Psytrance (cutoff with some Jazz or highly repetitive minimal techno when anti-psytrance friends are at home).

I have another question, if you listen to music in your room and you need to leave the room for a couple of seconds to grab some food, go to the toilett, whatever, do you pause the music?

  9. Very nice! Groovy! Quite minimal, but sadly I got a bit bored towards the end ( too repetitive ), but maybe you intended to be it like this. I absolutely love the bass! What (soft) synth did you use? And what sort of presets if I may ask?

When you say a quick mix, you mean quick at composing the track or mixing the layers together?

    Good work!
