  1. Yeah, Spielberg did a great job with those, didn't he? Great director. Perhaps even the greatest.

    Bwahahaha!

OK, as for me, I am still torn between two films. Unfortunately I have so much left to see, but as for now it is a tie between -

Lolita (of Stanley Kubrick of course)

Which has a superb acting from everyone. James Mason is aaaaamazing. Very eerie feeling during the film. Disturbing and entertaining.

    And, also,

Idi I Smotri (Come And See)

So far the most powerful war movie I saw. With a surreal feeling which little by little turns to horror and catastrophy. A pure diamond.

Compared to this, Schindler's List is a dog's puke leftover.

Oh, and I would like to hear some reasons as for why the topic starter chose Transformers

  2. Seriously now, as far as psy trance goes, nothing topped "V/A People Walk Funny" for me this year.

That guys who runs the label, I want him to come down to Zagreb and pay him a beer or two. Then I'd shoot him, because his compilation is good enough that it has left me with virtually nothing to bitch about. Which is a shame.

Joke. Massive respect for that release, though. I haven't felt that good about a psy trance orientated release since Twist Dreams dropped some years down the line. That one was a clear step above their debut "V/A Freshly Cut Tomato", so I guess only time will tell if they can out match the sophmore release now...

    +1

Actually, it was because of your very positive review here that I checked it, and liked it. On my to-buy list.

Artha - Sanjasin is one of the best Goa tracks I heard this year.

  3. Ouch, this will be hard. I haven't listened to 00's music as much as 90's music... The order matches more or less my order of preference

    Goa/Psy

    Khetzal - Corolle

    Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom

Jikkenteki - The Beginning Is At The End

V/A - The Mystery Of The Thirteen Crystal Skulls

    Jaïa - Fiction

    Prometheus - Robot-O-Chan

Nuclear Ramjet - Mission To Sedna

Torakka - Far Out Express (would be so much better if it was in better sound quality)

Downtempo (not really a fan, so...)

    Galaxy - Science Of Ecstasy

Jikkenteki - The Long Walk Home - Revelations And Moments Of Clarity

    Electrypnose - Subliminal Melancholies

    V/A - Twelve

    Asura - Code Eternity

Starcade - Les Introvertis Chroniques EP (still unreleased )

    V/A - Opus Iridium -CD2

Though I have voted for Re-releases like Backfire and Transdimensional etc. for "Best of year X", I am not doing it here.

List subject to changes in the future also :)

  4. Ah shite. My internet connection (in residence) blocks like half of the internet (I can't even use google's calculator). So I guess this is why I can't see your app. Any way to make it more "firewall friendly"?

    Thanks for the effort anyway.

  5. Re-release can have changes like different artwork, remastering and sometimes bonus tracks etc. It all depends on the label + artist I guess.

The Avatar re-release is, as I far as I know, similar to the original. Just a misprint for The Furnace (and not The Furance)

To stay on-topic, I'd add that this album is fantastic. I would like to make a longer review, but for now I'd just say my favourites are:

    The Furnace (totally insane)

    Chaotic Circus

    Absolute Zero

    Space Clinic

    Espanolizer

    Diamond Ring Effect

Time Drops (one of the best TE tracks ever IMO)

  6. Holy cow, I knew it was supposed to be on Ektoplasm, but I honestly didn't think you would actually do it.

Well, the artwork looks very nice! Slightly creepy, that's good :D

I am happy you put it on Ekto since I think this album deserves to be known. IMO it features the best uptempo tracks from Jikkenteki and it is a diverse yet solid album. Self Destructing Mechanism is one of my 2009 tracks! If you haven't heard this album yet, go hear it.

Excluding the ambient part of The Long Walk Home, this is my Jikkenteki best album.

Will it be available on CD?

  7. This release is supposed to be out tomorrow. From what I see it almost goes by unnoticed, as it is already on sale on Discogs.

    Samples: http://www.psyshop.c.../mar1cd009.html

Looks like it will vary between Psy "rolling basllines" Trance and Electro "Electrypnose" Trance

I guess the quality is going to be quite disparate. Add to that the fact that some of the tracks are collaborations...

Yet the samples sound quite cool. There is a remnant of original Total Eclipse sound, let's see how it will fit in the tracks, and if it will face the taste of "modern sound" people seem to want so much...

Mescalito Ghost (!), Present Past, Cyber Party, Empregnatizer caught my attention...

  8. Btw , I also wish to express my Thanks to whom put me as "Awaken".

I also don't wish to know who done it altought i might have an idea , but i guess it was God who caused all this. :)

If you mean the "awaken" which is under your avatar, then it was probably nobody's action. There are automated "status" which change after a certain amount of posts.
  9. Elysium, nobody here flames people for not liking Goa/Psy. You seem to have your own conception of the people here, based perhaps on past times.

I would indeed like the names of the people who mock and the people mocked, would help me alot to understand your criticism. I would also like the names of the people who can be called trolls other than bwhale (and why)...

And I strongly disagree about you and JonCrow's theory of the "stagnant elitist opiniation". People at the beginning of the thread were ready to criticize Koxbox. I personally (and I am sure most of the people here) have no problem getting their favourite artists criticized. As long as when they try to discuss about it they don't get called "stupid" every two sentences. Then there is a problem with the criticizer, don't you think?...

  10. Yep guys, don't let the concept of the reverse aging fool you. I was also blown away by the idea at first and thought "wow this is cool! I never imagined something like this!". But when the film ended, I stopped and thought about it: what are we left with after seeing it?

    The answer? Not much, unfortunately...

I won't talk about the CGI (which are great) because this is not what I'm looking for in a film.

The guy grows younger and we follow his life as he encounters numerous people. OK, this is basically the basis for any "biography" film. What would have made this film highly original was if his reverse aging triggered different reactions, not yet existant emotions etc. But they only cover this aspect with the romance part, other than that the hero crosses his fellows as if he is just an ordinary guy. And even the romance is done quite badly. Sure, there is melancholy, sadness, but that is... predictable. After all, even when two people who grow older together and one of them dies the sadness is here. I want to see something else, something that only this situation can bring.

But no, in the end it is all flat. Flat as the acting of Brad Pitt.

  11. it sure is a marketing technique. on the other hand i am not sure if those 3 bonus tracks are really that good. the originals (2 of them freely available on the flying rhino website) are no burners.

I have these tracks and trust me, they do NOT fit at ALL on the CD. While the CD is definitely Trance oriented, these tracks are much more non melodic Psy, bordering Progressive. I like them, they have a good driving fell to them (especially Digital Forward (Inclusion Remix)), but it was a clever move from Draeke IMO to put other tracks, even if they are already available elsewhere.

Perhaps some of them are better than some unreleased featured on the CD, but... I think they would have ruined the mood, if you understand what I mean.

As for the "marketing twist", I say yes and no. Yes because it is obvious that it was conceived for that purpose (getting the label more money). No because it wasn't actually marketed! How many of you guys knew about this? I only got to know about this from the Discogs forum. I don't think it was Draeke's evil marketing-suck-money-from-innocent-buyers move...

  12. So, let me refer to things written in the review of BPC (I didn't want to comment in the review since it does not have something to do with music).

Apparently people think this shouldn't have been released... The only thing coming to mind is: wtf is wrong with you? :D It is clear that I am biased because I love the music, but even so, there are things that we can consider:

Music wise - OK this is not Goa. Does that mean non Goa music shouldn't be (re)released?

Originality-wise - There are 7 unreleased tracks out of 19, that is 37%. I agree this is not alot and not all of them are up to par compared to the already released ones (though there are some killers). You have a point.

But, most important thing is, it's all about the other tracks! They were only released on vinyls or on comps. The vinyls are impossible to find (and, let's be honest, vinyl is obsolete for home listening now). And look at their prices! And I'm not going to buy 12 compilations in order to have the tracks!

And Goa or not these tracks definitely got huge success back then and still now. Considering their unavailability, I think it is 100% justified to re-release them!

I am quoting on10 - "The motive? Quite clearly to suck some last drops of money out of BPC" - do you really think this is the motive? I personally don't, especially considering how difficult it is for labels to sell CDs (this is based on what I read here and there, I am not into the business).

And as for your recommendations for pirating, well, you have your ethics, I have my own.

To conclude, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever if people don't like the music (you'll notice I didn't criticize this point). But why question the "legitimacy" of the release? Don't you want people to have access to almost inabordable music?

    So, what do you think?

  13. So far there have been 3 albums that I had trouble with.

The first was Astral Projection - Trust In Trance. The only tracks I liked were Black & White and People Can Fly. I think I didn't get it because of the very repetitive bassline I focused on. Some day (was something like 6 months after hearing it for the first time), bam! Everything was clear, and delightful. Well, except for Aurora Borealis that I still don't like.

Second was Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation CD1. While I instantly fell in love with Delta Aquarids, I just couldn't stand the very agressive riffs of this one. Except for The Furnace which was an instant love. It took me like a year to finally "get it". Still have problems with Teknophobia.

And the last and most difficult one... Dimension 5 - Transdimensional. I was reading all the praises as "one of the masterpieces of Goa" and I was thinking I was going to get mad for not liking it. I understand now that what I disliked were the "trancey" elements which disturbed me from getting the overall structures of the tracks. I will remember it my whole life, 2 days after christmas I said I'd give it another shot (after 2 years). Upon hearing Omega Centaurus... wow... it was a marvelous feeling. I still don't really like all the tracks, but I do get now why people praised it so much.

Album I still don't like is Filteria - Sky Input. I can't really connect to all the praises.

  14. Be it Goa or not is not relevant. This is good MUSIC.

Also, IMO it definitely contains Goa elements. I wonder why you are so disappointed frozen dream. Perhaps listen to it again with a different mood? And I hope you didn't really expect a GNOTR vs. Doof feat. Astral Projection, right? After all, we're talking about BPC here, they were never tagged as hardcore Goa as far as my Goa culture is concerned.

  15. One of the worst for me is Chi-A.D. - Healing Magic <_<

Many people say this. I respect your view.

But am I the only one who thinks it fits PERFECTLY in the track? Besides, Healing Magic is my Chi-AD's favourite track. I also love the samples in The Ocean Also Dreams.

The sample I dislike in Chi-AD is in Astral Warrior. It sounds ridiculous to me...

Other than that... can't think of annoying samples right now.

  16. Oh yea? I think a post asking an artist CD to only be a certain "genre" of music is dumb, because good artists usually aren't confined into genres. (Not to mention most of Jaia's best tracks so far have been ambient.)

    1. I expressed my expectations of the album. This is usually what we do in these kind of threads (at least I think so, correct me if I'm wrong).

    2. I do not agree with you about Jaïa's best tracks. But that's OK, it's all about taste. I do agree about good artists not being confined to one genre.

    3. You think too much. Would be cool if you were more polite/gentle/agreeable. This forum is not your playground.

Feel free to reply and argue, but that's all for me. If you want to carry the conversation, better use PM, this thread is more about Jaïa than fights.
