Just need the reviews section to pop off again. I’ll come up with a few for 2020-2023. Need to know what’s good!

Yeah I was thinking the same. I think it would be nice to make some reviews again. To get some new inspiration, I feel like I'm stuck in a loop listening to the same old classics. :D I mean there must be some new stellar music out there, besides some old gems one might've missed right? ;)

Gonna explore some new music and play the Crysis remastered trilogy. Scifi first person shooters + Psytrance FTW.

its a good one. i had it in my tape deck when at arvika 2003 (or was it 2004) so it was part of the mood at the tents for sure

Nice, I was there too, unsure about witch year, but Infected Mushroom played live. Mid 2000s. I think Skazi joined them too on stage playing electric guitar.

the film Pusher (denmark) has a track from koxbox. It might be fuel on, dont remember of the top of my head.

It is Fuel On indeed. One of the best tracks on Distance To Goa 4, too bad it wasn't the track in its entirety due to the DJ-mix. It's shortened circa 1 minute. Still great old school Goa style DJ Mix so that makes up for it. A good example of how they used to mix manually, before the more automatic DJ players/mixer features we see today where invented.

I think I remember the forum this was posted on, it was Ottomatta's offtopic den (don't know the proper name anymore), wasn't it?

However, if it was that thread (or a related one) that you mean with the reference, then I must say that whatever was posted there on that forum (I do not remember the exact words) left me very disturbed, confused and only half-believable on my end of the screen.
The bottomline which was trying to be brought across in the poster's opinion was, that a certain person would be behind lots of accounts here. And to take the theory further, it was stated, that, being mentally ill, this person maybe doesn't even know and thus argues with him/herself, creating pure drama out of thin air...
    ...correct me if I'm wrong.

I had long time to think about this. Was it real, or a form of bad joke? I even brought it up several times here in some comments, but as a bottom line after all those years of thinking: I can only say that I do not care. I just stick to my recipe: I do take postings here with face value, albeit with a certain amount of "not taking everything too serious".
And, frankly: I think you should do the same.

I find it not even bad that we have such a crazy theory about our forum. I mean, who else has this? You have to have a certain status and meaning in people's lives that they even come up with this. That's what I like about it. And the rest I leave alone before I beome insane :P

    One more thing:
IP checks did not reveal multiple accounts, but if such a scheme really exists the person has enough knowledge to mask their identity.

    cheers

In the end who knows who the real mastermind is behind the Psynews characters gallery.. Maybe it's NHJO who is everybody? ;) Infiltrating the mod team, covering his tracks. J/K.

On a more serious note, on the internet you obviously can never be totally certain about anything. That beeing said, these type of vague rumours/conspiracy theories obviously aren't anything else but that. Until someone presents something a little bit more substantial to corroborate their claims. Until then it's just another day of "trust me bro".

I don't know this compilation, thanks for the heads up. I do like Prana for the dramatic sensibility and the percussion.

Children's recommendations were mostly spot-on, but I complained at the time that he didn't bold Miranda's Phenomenon - in retrospect, I would say that most Goa fans would rate that album as a classic. ~*~

Yeah I like that one a lot, her earlier tracks like Steps To The Stars, Second Steps To The Stars, Triplexus etc. All way cool, and the titular track Phenomena obviously. With its sample from the Species movie I think, about the S.E.T.I information disc with info about the human race sent out to outer space.

Also very fond of her compilation tracks such as Riding Alien, Electrobot, Sparkling State of Mind, and yeah Real Rush too when I heard first time on VA Psychedelic Demons back in the late 90s.

Does anybody remember Children's red bolded album recommendations in the early days? Those were not just red, they were gold to me at the time! Ever since seeing Tsuyoshi Suzuki at the new year's eve rave in Cape Town in 96 I had to have more of that wild alien music... 👽

I wasn't around that early here, maybe lurking when vacuum cleaning, the the little thing that the internet was in in those early days, looking for information about ps/goa trance. One surely had to end up here one way or another.

However speaking of Tsuyoshi Suzuki, this VA he compiled made a strong impression back in 1996:

    Right.

BREAKING NEWS: It was all migrated to his very board but it's hidden alongside the moderators' forum.

Seems the latest messages were posted on October 22nd 2008. I don't remember exactly the circumstances of the shut down. Probably too much of a mess.

Daym.. so the dark side of the moon, it's hidden and nobody dares imagine what horrors are lurking there. :D It's like a Transformers movie.

My first rave was a Goa Gil Mahayagya in India in 1999 , I think. With no exposure to the music as a teenager and with no idea what to expect  I spent the night trying to make sense of what i was hearing  , seeing  and smelling :) around me - the 4 by 4 beat  , fluorescent backdrops with elves and goblins ,  braided hippies dancing away , It was an assault on the senses ( in a good way) i was intrigued no end by the setting the music and the people.

When the sun came up , i witnessed the magic which then stuck with me forever .I was an initiation like no other.  My brother went on to give  me his forest of the saints cassette that he had picked up from Goa earlier and the rest as they say is history ..

I owe my "getting into" psytrance to the man himself so he will always occupy a special place in my psych.

RIP babaji ! hope you continue your party wherever you are .. 🎵🌈🌙

Nice, you created some beautiful images of Goa in my minds eye. Was it a beach location or forest, hillside area something else? I've never been to Goa myself, so I'm not familiar with the city/area names. And btw does anyone here on the forum know what era the party beach footage is from at the end of the video interview in my original post?

Is it modern IE from the era of the documentary or from the early Goa era? I can't quite place the music and the style of the decos and fashion like quite distinct compared to what's common in my country for sure. ^^

  9. Just read via Astral Projections Facebook that Gilbert Levey/Shri Mahant Managalanand Puri aka Goa Gil has passed away sadly.

Feels like yesterday when I used to blast his Kosmokrator compilation:

    https://www.discogs.com/release/204747-Goa-Gil-Deck-Wizards-Kosmokrator

    And this one:

    https://www.discogs.com/master/761473-Goa-Gil-Spiritual-Trance-Vol-2

What are your personal memories of Goa Gil?

Googling around some for his biography and found some interesting interviews, one from as recently as 2020:

    https://www.gqindia.com/entertainment/content/the-incredible-true-history-of-goa-gil-psychedelic-trance-and-the-end-of-the-hippy-trail

Reading Goa Gil's wikipedia biography entry, is in many ways the story of how Goa Trance came to be, summed up.

Yeah that's him alright, he even had a real profile photo on the forum I recall, which looked exactly like him in the end of the video. And mind ya this was long long long before AI/deepfakes was a thing. :D So I think we can safely debunk any false rumours regarding him not beeing a real person.

I try to visit from time to time but strangely whenever I try to log in from within Canada, where I live, I get a message saying I am banned. Maybe there are some IP restrictions which prevent anyone from Canada to access the forum? Any moderator can help with that?

Weird hmm, @RTP @Penzoline could anyone of you in the mod/admin team check into the login issues of Jisnegro and the goa constrictor? And potentially other new and old visitors to the forum. Thanks! 🙏🏼 :)

Sounds like it was a targeted attack. They cut the power beforehand. Astral Projection, Man With No Name, Spectra Sonics were scheduled to be there. According to some articles 260 bodies were found. 50 terrorists paraglided in. Totally insane

Wow that's creepy, Could it have been that the terrorists were planning specifically to kill the artists on the flyer as well? Does anyone know so far how many on that flyer who survived?

I watched the interview with Anoebis on some of the other links in this thread. Glad to see atleast one of our fellow Psynews members safe and sound.

No you're thinking of NHJO. Radi was a very real person.

Yeah I got the impression he was real too. However just as with NHJO, I think some forum members jokingly admitted to beeing "the real him". Etc So that could probably have contributed to Reger's impression. Unless he just mixed it up with NHJO as you imply. Anyways my memory becomes like a blur when trying to remember forum things from that far back. It was such a high tempo back then here, that it was kinda hard to follow all the twists and turns in the dramas. The ban-hammer was working tirelessly in those days.

  15. Sad times, my heart goes out to everyone affected. Nightmare stuff I can't even comprehend. Music that is such a powerful thing to bring people together. And of all genres, Psytrance that has such a peaceful and loving message. To see an attack on our beloved Psytrance community like this. It's just horrible.

It's reminiscent like mentioned of the terrorist attacks in France at Bataclan. Also reminds me of the terrorist attack against the Ariana Grande concert in the UK. It's such a deliberately evil thing to plan and carry out.

*Update, upon reading the reconstruction of the events by BBC News. Which I don't want link because of how graphic it is. This terrorist attack is perhaps most similar to what Breivik did in Norway. Since they were really trapped and encircled by the terrorists. That even used sniper rifles as well as besides the assault rifles and other weapons, hence the comparison to Breiviks horrible act of terror. Although he obviously acted alone. Thede terrorists acted in a very coordinated, strategic and military way.

I mean this is just brutal, this is the type of techniques hunters use to encircle prey.
