They've all got unique things about them that iz good eg Cool Edit has a groovy gliding timestretch & Wavelab is particularly good at sorting out track regions (as I discovered when trying to separate a sample CD into it's component sections). I use Soundforge for the most part though & have no complaints :)

Yeah, Soundforge I reckon. And you can get VST plugins working in it using a VST wrapper (FXpansion do a good one).

Why Soundforge? Well, as has already been said, all the editors do things that the others don't (this is why I have all three installed) but for speed and ease of use, SF just beats WL in my book - compare the waveform overviews in both programs and you'll see another big reason why I prefer SF; it gives you a better picture of the wave (trivial yet somehow important). You can get Cubase to pass segment information to SF too, using CUB2FOR2.EXE, just like Wavelab. Cool Edit has a wicked zoom, but just feels tacky to me. I don't know, maybe I'm just a snob.

What the hell, use whatever works for you; that's what I do.
