Guest Man from space
Why is it sooo important to have good speakers??and why is it so important to have a good mixer when you are only working with Audio.. Please don't laugh i am pretty stupid when it comes to technical stuff...
Guest Elysium Project
Because a good set of speakers and a good mixer will come closest to the "real"sound. If you mix your music in your headphones or a bad set of speakers and or mixer you will properly experience a completely different sound picture once you play your music on a normal Hi-Fi stereo or in a party. Guest Amanita Muscaria
What about if I use "a normal Hi-Fi stereo" when making music? another stupid question, I think
Guest Spiralix
A usual hifi stereo often has alot more bass... And will give you a false sound. When you mix you should hace as straight hi, low ,mid level..
Guest Elysium Project
yeah that's right...you need those clean monitors so your music will sound good everywhere.... If you try to use your hi-fi as your studio speakers you will not end up with a good result....
Guest Cujo
yea, the monitors and the mixer are the last links in your setup. so they are also the weakest links, so the monitors, are the most important part of the setup. you can if you make 100% with audio, run directly from the output to the amp, but if you run more than 1 output and need a mixer, then a good mixer, without too much color in the sound and too much noise would be the best. but listen to kristian/elysium, when it comes to studio setups he is a guru, so i heard so i feel,,, so just ask him! cya /C

Guest Elysium Project
A mixer such as Mackie (ok quality and not too expensive) or a used Soundcraft are good. http://www.mackie.com http://www.spirit-by-soundcraft.co.uk Monitors: Genelec (for those that can afford it) http://www.genelec.com Mackie also make some quite nice low cost montors and Yamaha has some ok too. http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi.exe/gPWS00008
shpongled
Elysium... so you have Genelecs? Which model and how much they are? How low should a frequency response go?
Guest Elysium Project
I am using my new 1038A three way monitors..... I think the price is about 1000 - 1400 $. not really sure....My monitors are demo models.. so I got them cheaper. Got no idea about the frequency.... shpongled
I think 2000$ is way too much for 1032A...
