They are certainly a diverse bunch the Free-Spirit Records gang, in their near-on ten year history the output has included full-length artist albums, compilations, single track releases and EPs traversing the spectrum - psychedelic, progressive, chillout - showcasing producers from across the planet. Their latest, an EP called Into the Vortex, comes from Free-Spirit’s core featuring two co-productions from its stalwarts who’ve been there from day one, Journey and Tron. Journey is based in London and Tron from Mexico and they are both at the epicentre of the scene out there doing the hard yards lapping up influences and influencing others in equal measure. Their tunes a direct reflection of that on-the-ground presence, a summation of the sounds of the city wrapped in universally relevant dynamism. Progressive by nature the characteristics that stand out greatest are the richness of texture, of the constituent elements, and the clarity of their definition. So that their music comes across as other worldly, the product of artificial intelligence from enlightened beings but still drawing on primal human urges. The confluence of these two life forces, the alien and the inherent, providing an invigoration that impacts on both the physical and the metaphysical of the partaker. Offering a form of sustenance and ensuring that within the vortex of our lives we are at peace.

Tron’s style is unique in psychedelic trance, with fusions that go from morning funky to the most psychedelic consistent sounds; which makes his style fit anytime on the dancefloor. Born in 1981 in Mexico City, he has a long carreer on classical guitar. Started producing trance in early 2000 and 2 years later he was playing in clubs and gatherings all around Mexico. His first release Existence was released with Liquid Records, based in London in January 2006, and had raving reviews and excellent feedback. His second full lenght Bio-Logic was released on 2009 placing him fully on the international scope as one of the leading figures in the trance scene worldwide.
Between his colaboration projects there is "The ART conspiracy" (with Psymmetrix), "Blind Roller" (with Mood Deluxe), "Floating Point" (with Dj Pollyfonika), and a couple more within other styles of dance music.

He has collaborated with lots of artists and played in countless festivals, and clubs all over the world.


-- JOURNEY aka Jay OM --

Journey (Jay OM / Omsphere / Sonic Wave Control) is the psychedelic solo project of, Milan born but now London based, Giampiero 'Jay' Mastino, label manager of Free-Spirit Records.

I have said it before and I will say it again, Jay OM must surely be the hardest working man in psychedelia. He’s label boss for Free-Spirit Records - which this coming year celebrates its 10th anniversary - plays and produces under multiple guises – Journey/ Omsphere/ Sonic Wave Control - performs as one or many of these all over London, Europe and the world plus he’s a successful party promoter. Coming from Italy, Jay hails from a vinyl background having first encountered it whilst working in a local radio station and then gigging in the trance scene in London in the late 90s. The skills developed as a result making for a polish that is immediately apparent when he jumps behind the decks. So too is the absolute dedication to the trade that keeps him highly occupied which combined with an enthusiasm for sharing his passion ultimately makes him more than just a man playing a few tunes. Rather, an energy radiates from his soul cascading into all corners of the environment he dwells, enrapturing all participants so that they too are invigorated by his lust for life and music
