Q: Can you give us a brief history about the growth of your label during the last years?

A: Atomic has been learning about all sorts of things since it began and we are still learning - about the music, the business - but we are much wiser now and things have become a lot more organised. We are looking forward to the coming year as we feel everything is falling into place, we have some exciting new projects and releases ahead including launch of Sub Atomic (downtempo/breaks/beats) & Atomic Reactor (Atomic & Juno Reactor) labels, new artists and office.

Q: Could you describe us the style of trance you want to favour to be released under your label?

A: Atomic believes that regardless of media label or musical genre and if the material is quality then it could find its way on to the label. As we expand we hope to incorporate many styles and hope our audience will open their minds as well !!!

Q: Could you give us a general survey of the main artists who currently release stuff under your label?

A: We could mention many it is an open door, Dino Psaras, Steve Ronan, Marc Van Der Vlugt, Joti Sidhu, Xavier Morel & Iain Rive are constantly working on projects in the studio for atomic they are an important part of our A&R as they play all over the world gathering new tracks meeting artists new and old, they also all have different styles but can also work well together.

Q: Is there an artist projecting to release a new album with your label? We had echoes from a debut Four Carry Nuts one … are there other artists too? Many people here are waiting for new Cydonia, Tim Schuldt & Total Eclipse albums for exemple.

A: At present there is no such album in the pipeline though Dino has suggested he would like to do one next year.

Q: Whose artists would you like to work with?

A: There are so many artists we would like to work with - Rabbit in the Moon/Timo Maas/Gus Till/Purple/ Kruder Dorfmeister/Cass & Slide/Oliver Lieb/Der Dritte Raum/Adam Freeland/Midfield General/Scott Hardkiss/Massive Attack........the list is endless

Q: Is there another particular label you appreciate a lot for its musical orientation?

A: Studio K7 in Germany have got it really sorted the DJ Kicks series is very good + Soma in Scotland have done really well as an independent + Skint cause some of our mates work there and they used to be relly skint.

Q: Could you give us a TOP 5 of the Psychedelic Trance Albums you liked the most?

A: Dragonfly - Order Odonata comp's/ A concept in Dance (XL), Marc Van Der Vlugt- 'Behind the Scenes' (Atomic DAT). Flying Rhino/ Blue Room & Transient have all produced good compilations + Atomic have done one or two!!!.

Q: Do you organize parties with your label?

A: Yes, the biggest problem here is good venues and it also takes a huge amount of time and effort. We have toyed with the idea of a monthly night though for the time being it looks like one off parties, there will be a album launch party for Marc's new comp, we would like to do one in a snowboard resort. Rik who works part time at the label has a night in Brighton called 180 degrees, Purple is resident and Steve Ronan/Dino/Joti/Marc VDV often play. Next year we will be looking into this more closely.

Q: Are you used to DJ in these parties? If so, what kind of stuff do you play as a DJ in these parties?

A: No i can't!!!, Atomic resident DJ's are Dino Psaras, Marc Van Der Vlugt, Steve Ronan, Joti Sidhu and Jayme, with them around theirs no need.

Q: What comps/eps (we already talked about upcoming albums in question 4) do you project to release in the next months?

A: Kiss the Future Procoyon has just been released. We have been working with Marc Van Der Vlugt on a compilation that is due for release in Feb 2001 includes tracks from MOS, Avatar, Slinky Wizard, Syncro, Bus etc etc it is called 'Behind the Scenes' - quality stuff, also 'Corrosive Breaks' 2 will be released in Feb on new Sub Atomic label, we feel an improvement on the 1st again quality stuff. There will also be singles from Slinky Wizard, Bus, MOS, Eargear,Purple & Ronan and a host of others including the launch of 'Atomic Reactor' sub label early next year the first release set to be by Male or Female (Front 242). A lot of Atomic stuff is also being liscenced by other labels and we are beginning to get some interest in the US.

Children: Thanks a lot!

Atomic: Thanks for your interest, your support is appreciated. Phil Poling/John Martin @ Atomic HQ.
