Review:

This ep should have been released a long time ago but some

misunderstanding at the pressing-factory caused a delay. Now it´s

finally available, atleast directly from the swedish label/recordstore

www.backtoplastic.com. The two previous releases from the label Implant

were the first records I reviewed for this site and I still love those

ep´s by Der Weltraum Traumstadt and Sensphere. Check those reviews if

you´re interested in knowing more about the sound of the label Implant.

This brand new ep, the third one from Implant, is dark and very pounding

but not so hard and aggressive that you may risk your teeth on the

dancefloor. "The Door" (8/10) is the hardest of the two tracks on this

ep and it has this bassline that reminds me of the beat that some

Electronic Bodymusic (EBM) got. I really like the driving bassline in

the background combined with the hard bass-drum on top but the rest of

the sounds aren´t as good and interesting unfortunately. "The Door" is

still a great track but it could perhaps have been even better with

something else mixed with that magical bassline. The small elements of

melody that do exist in this track are the worst parts so if those were

removed and replaced with something harder and nastier or just a better

melody... well... then a dentist next to the dancefloor would have been

a good idea ;-) "The Wasteland" (4/10) sounds similar to "The Door" but

it isn´t nearly as good. It´s less dark and evil compared to the

previous releases from Implant and I find "The Wasteland" rather anaemic

if you ask me. I like some of the unusual crazy noises at the end of the

track but that´s not enough to make me more positive. This isn´t a very

psychedelic ep but it´s still some kind of psytrance, and I´m very happy

that some labels dare to release such music even though it might not

sell millions of copies. Remember that in the Implant-fridge you´ll find

no cheese, only toxic waste and barbed wire! If you think you can digest

that, why don´t you try some?
