Review:

Another minimal compilation in the endless stream of progressive psy-tech.

This time a mixed one from German label Medium. To my knowledge, all of

these tracks are unreleased. Not sure about that though!? I didn't really

get into this compilation before I listened to it with my headphones. I'd

really like to say, that I love this compilation and listen to it all the

time, but that's not true. Sure there are interesting moments, like

Bitmonx,

P.O.T.S and especially Timetech & Lube (Also a DJ Sascha "Bitmonx" Haske

project) who all have made brilliant, interesting tracks. But I don't

think

this comp. will be getting a lot of playing time in my CD-player. Well

maybe

"Frogrock" will get an extra spin or two but that's it. Perhaps it will

grow

on my later, but it's collecting dust right now.Get the amazing comp

"Otherwise" instead of this mostly boring release! 5/10

I've been enjoying this comp for the last month. I find the entire compilation

to be great - the best comp for awhile. Every track is interestingly

progressive and funky-fried.

Bitmonx, POTS, Jacques Gelee, Timetech and Auricular are inspiring and so is

the rest.

This is for people who are into the minimal-progressive sounds, as the title

above suggests - Good work Medium, another quality release. Beautifully

mastered and produced as well - 8.5/10

People that don't like dark & minimal... Get the hell out of here. People that

do could do worse than check this out. It's a new episode in the great Medium

compilations. Again 8 tracks to feed your brain. Bitmonx compiled this one..

It shows in the way the songs are all dark and a bit technoish. The vibes (and

especially the basses) are good however... !! I dig this. I'd give it 8/10 But

I can't pick out any best track, they're all in the same mould.. And that's

good. Only thing I'm missing on this one is a melodic & tranquil song.. Every

Medium comp. has had one until now... :-(

But.. still. The 8 solidly stands... Great work Medium!!

Good compilation, typical Medium stuff as I expected...great variety of sounds

good percussion, but overall I had expected the hypnotic level to be just a

littlebit higher... Most tracks have a hard kick and overall the basslines are

good...

Not very hard to pick out my favorites here...in order of appearance :

LUBE/FROGROCK : I'm in total agreement with the reviews above; this one

definately takes the lead, hard kickbass, great percussion, shake that on the

dancefloor 9/10!!!

...Bitmonx/It : great bassvibe! some percussion, crispy sounds and of course

the 'IT'-sound makes it all so real!

...Fabel/Trunk : sounds like the most simple song on this cd, but I just love

that unique pithy Iboga-kicksound, can't help it

...Timetech/Nothing else : best kick on this comp

...Auricular/Wasp or Fly : no great vibes here but listen to the variety and

perfection of sound...the Melo mix has much more feeling though...

Only one BAD track imo: Peak Pilots/Twisted fancy... the ideas and sounds

aren't bad at all... but they're not exactly where they should be, and what

the hells going on with that kick? my god...

So, I'd advise this one to any progressive-head (especially the last track is a

must-have!) 7,5/10

not the best medium compilation but some tracks are realy interesting imo ...

for example the first one which is extremely well build up , great progression

... there aren't any bad tracks in here but some are a bit pointless ...

highlights are 1,6(!) and 8 ... i like the coverart too , so i give this

7,5/10 .
