Bigwigs - Senna Mejoza

Posted Image

Artist: Bigwigs

Title: Senna Mejoza

Label: Digital Structures

Date: 2001

Track listing:

01. Senna Mejoza

02. Liczy Dlo

Review:

I´m really confused over the different polish projects but they all

sound great with the exception of P Woland. I don´t understand why they

use so many different names, Tromesa, Praecox, Bigwigs and P Woland but

that´s no problem as long they keep up the good work. This release from

DIGITAL STRUCTURES is qualitystuff too, atleast the a-side "Senna

Mejoza" (8/10) which is packed with echoing noises and scary samples. I

don´t know if this is the new direction for the label DIGITAL STRUCTURES

but I really hope so. If they leave the groovy zombieswamp and move to

the moor of darkness, that´s fine with me, and then I´ll keep bying

their records. The b-side "Liczy Dlo" 4/10 isn´t so exciting. Too

monotonous and to be honest, really boring too.

Just one comment to Stormbringer.

First of all : P-Woland isn't polish and have nothing to do with the bigwigs

guys. P-Woland is from the south of Sweden.

Tromesa is Tomek and gregy!

Bigwigs is Tomek, gregy and jurek

Take care /Seb

Praecox is only jurek!

Take care!

Another release from the Tromesa/Bigwigs/Praecox crew, definately one of their

more minimal outings. Senna Mejoza has a steady hypnotic bassline, then a

little after the half way point you have your requisite crazy sounds come in

which carries the song out in fine fashion. Not exactly an original recipe

for a track, but clearly there was a lot of work that went into the sounds

themselves. Liczy Dlo has a long intro which then breaks into a similar

hypnotic groove as the A side, this one's a bit darker tho. I'll give this EP

a 6/10. Both tracks are good, if a bit formulaic, but overall I'd suggest the

Tromesa LP for more variety or the Bigwigs track Vibra Fon on the Progopoly

compilation.
