Review:

Well, this being my first review, I'm happy I get an

oppurtunity to review what I consider the best ALBUM

of the year. Let me first state that I usually don't

buy albums, mostly because these days artists tend to

release good eps and pack those into an album, and

then pour on the filler (with the exception of cryptic

crunch + headware, every one is amazing) But I

happened to see neuromotor this weekend with psyside

and I had to buy the album off him (t'accepte les

cheques? ;) But so ok I listened to this and fuckin ay

I starting to bounce off the walls! Ok let's go

through each one song by song: 1) Really cool starter,

sounds a little like bamboo forest except a little

more bouncy and groovy, with a just enough filtered

growling to make it truly psychedelic, weird sample

though (I think it's from "The Message") 2) Ok, one of

the best tracks on the album, heavy kickdrum, samples

looped into the beat, cool housy style claps, percus

and bells, complete with a funky acidline in the

middle till the end 3) The BEST fuckin song on the

album, sick sick sick gallopy bassline and my god,

those cool doppler like sounds, really it's too sick

to describe, the riff will kill anything on the

dancefloor 4)This song already appeared on another

acidance comp "drug therapy", it's really good but

really fuckin heavy and "rouleau compresseur", you

might understand what I mean, anyhow it's good and on

a side note it's one of the best tracks on "drug

therapy" 5) "I'm a virgin?!" What kind of a sample is

that? Kind of funny, in a twisted sort of way, I'd

like to know where it comes from... Anyways, lots of

samples in this one, typical neuro layered approach

where he lays on the psycheness and finished with hit

hats, almost too formulaic for me but still better

than a lot of stuff out there, this is the worst on

the album, relatively speaking of course 6) Bouncy,

good drums and another one of those dark funky bouncy

riffs 7) Ok, this is the second best song on the

album, despite the fact that we once again find a

sample from X-men the movie... amazing synths and

bouncy yet driving bassline, then in the middle, it's

get really cool, hard to explain, funky like with

those house drum loops, and samples thrown in with the

beat, kind of like Accelerate off Intellinet, hard

reference I know, anyways it gets even better, hats

more pronounced 8) Bouncy is the key word, cool is

another one, and then some of the most melodic

original guitar playing I've ever heard makes its

appearance, this track is very morning, and still very

good (I'm not really into morning/dream) 9) Another

morning tune, even better than the previous one, this

time with a really dreamy piano as the lead combined

with some really cool atmospheric synths and a cool

rythim guitar like that other neuromotor track Crazy

Crooner... Bref, this is the best bang for your buck,

album wise, hands down, every song works on the

dancefloor, no filler here, the only thing that may

come close to equalling this is the psyside album

coming out on the same label. Acidance, my hat is off

to you.

Lacks originality and cleverness for an eventual Album of the Year award IMO

since its the tried and tested 3DVision style central mixed with the acid

fiesta of GMS. Most trax are fast and relentless floorready stompers but are

simply not as ingenious as a Logic Bomb or a Talamasca can craft their

compositions. Only the hypnotic and spacey -Liquid Evolution- is on par with

the best of the genre. So, loatsa adrenalin pumpin' but a shortage of

scrumptious brainfood. 7/10

Uggh. Not a good album IMO. Each track has a constant bassline that just

pounds away, never changing. Maybe a 2 second break in a few tracks, but

other than that, it's a beat with samples/noise ontop. The first track is

actually pretty good, but again it hardly differs from start to finish -- not

very original. Great use of the effects though... Track 2 has a really bouncy

beat to it, some drums and some droning guitar, but it's pretty boring also.

Track 3 isn't good. Too bouncy, same "melody" the whole way through. Track 4

is just NOISE! Really annoying, and much too busy and too much intentional

dirtying of sound quality here. Sounds interesting with headphones, but still

annoying. Track 5 doesn't go anywhere, and has a pitch bending effect that

goes up and down, spanning about 3 notes almost the whole way through... and

that "I'm a virgin" sample sucks, as I don't see how it has anything to do

with the track at all. Track 6 is okay, good use of octave jumps here,

probably one of the better tracks on the album. Still, the track goes nowhere

and is repetative. Track 7 is interesting, some cool effects and unlike the

other track, this one changes a bit from start to end... not too bad. Track 8

has some great guitar riffs in there, but that's about all I liked about it.

Track 9 sounds like the artist cut the reverb substantially, as this track

sounds empty. Not very many layers, and it's kind of slower too... doesn't

finish off the album strong at all. So anyway, I found this album boring and

too repetative. Best tracks are 1,6,7 -- which are actually a good listen,

however, the other tracks prevent me from rating this album high. 6/10

I would like to clarify a point, first of all I said best ALBUM of the year for

2001, and IMHO the runner-ups are Absolum, Alien Project and Skazi (LB, HFlux

and Tala. were last year). Secondly, maybe I should have been more precise on

the matter that this is overall a happy album, not necessarily morning, but

really bouncy and French à la Nomad/Talamasca. So if hard, rough/rush,

screeching is your thing, then look towards christof and his posse for

enlightenment. But I don't understand how people can call this repetitive?! I

mean, if this is repetitive, then how you describe SBK or Ticon? I'm

personally starting to get tired of the 120+ layers in psy, so maybe I should

have stated that in my review.

I love this CD! Just got it and have not stopped listening to it everyday! So

fast, heavy (at times) and pure fun music. The samples are just

hilarious..."I'm a virgin...." Anyways, everyone is entitled to his/her

opinion, but does one have to be so dramatic--"It sucks shit!" Do we really

care if you blatantly don't like it? The point is it's music of a different

genre, call it psy/electronic/goa/whatever. Can anyone make an album, record,

produce, dj and have talent like Neuromotor and many other psy atists? This

album is hot and a blast! 10/10

vrooommvrooooom! Neuromotorrrrr... he couldn't have chosen a better name! I

think this is one of the best albums of 2001... because... 1: Awsome

artist+album name 2: massive coverdesign (the 3-winged thing probably

symbolises the neuromotor :) ) 3: perfect progressive line up 4: absurd

voicesamples 5 : great production 6: the music itself of course :

neurodamaging/brainwashing/brainstorming...sucks all energy out of your head

and body! not a single track I don't like actually.

Best tracks im-ND-o: 'Funky Bistro'is simply amazing! I like every single thing

about it, each sound fits in perfectly 10/10...'Fuck the DAT mafia' is so

noisy and insane, from the start till the end, no time to breathe!

'Neurodance' & 'Machine on Earth' are morning orientated, but still great

partystuff and I love them both! LIVE ACT! LIVE ACT!

If you enjoyed this, you should definately try Plastyk Elephant/Hyper

Frequencies (same genre, same guy)

9/10

It's definetely the beats U will hear at a party, it's true that it's not very

high quality but yet it has a lot of power and rythm. I quite liked it, it's

not the best out there but when U R in a good mood (wanting to dance) or

you're on E, this must be one of your first choices

Yeah, this album pretty much kicks ass... I don't know why everybody hated "the

brain forest" I know the sample is really cheesy, especially in the breakdown,

but that synth line that comes in near the end is extremely twisted, which in

turn, makes the song worthwile. Too bad nobody will ever play this at a party

just because of the sample...

Aloha Fred. I really dig the album. So much that I had it stolen from my car

at an Atomic party, I had to buy it again.

There's the selling line: So good folks will buy it twice!

Can not wait to enjoy hearing-seeing-feeling you, your music. Be aware the DJ

who is going to play afterwards, is usually able to wake us up at 05.00 and

then the party is starting.... Why dont you show that there is no need to do

that and keep us up the whole time. What do you think (please :)
