Artist: Spirallianz

Title: Motorman / Patch Finder

Label: Spirit Zone

Date: 2001

Track listing:

01. Motorman

02. Patch Finder

Review:

I became a big fan of Spirallianz (and Midimiliz) as soon as I bought

the first record (the Blast Food album) with them. I really like this

kind of mix between heavy techno and dark psytrance that they´re such

specialists on. I heard rumours of this ep several months before its

release but it took me until now to get it here in Sweden. "Motorman"

(4/10) is a standard technotune with crappy old sounds and it´s very

monotonous. It improves towards the end but the poor beginning of the

track spoils my mood to listen to it at all. This is one of the least

good tracks made by Arne and Wayan. I got a bit worried until a fliped

my record and started to listen to the b-side, "Patchfinder" (9/10). It

sounds very much like something from the Midimiliz album "Antistat" and

some things are also similar to the track "Cream" from the Atomic

compilation "Behind The Sceenes". When I saw Spirallianz live this

summer at the Arvikafestival the played "Patchfinder" and I promise you

that I was headbanging by the fence like a maniac instead of dancing

like everybody else. This track is really massive and pumping, and if

you´re not prepared when you put the needle to the record you´ll think

you got something by the industrial artist Imminent Starvation instead

of Spirallianz. This track is one of the hardest techtrancetracks I´ve

heard and I like it more and more. It´s grinding and monotonous but it

keeps growing in intensity, and after a while there´s this sad creepy

melody in the background that´s really haunting. If you´re into the

nastiest kind of tech trance", then run like hell to the nearest store

and by yourself a copy of this excellent record. If you´re not familiar

with Spirallianz and prefer oldschool Goa", then you´ll need a

heartspecialist if you´re about to try to listen to this! On the

coversticker there´s this text "1st of 3". I really hope that means

there´s two more ep´s to be released soon. If you´ve enjoyed the

previous releases by Spirallianz you´ll love this to, atleast

"Patchfinder".

Very disapointing.. I love some tracks by Spirallianz, One Way Ltd and

Submariniert for example.

But this is isn't very good IMHO. Doesn't grow that much in intensity as I

would like it to do.. ;)

Freak 51 u find this ep boring ??? I usually like ur reviews but i after ive

read this one i gotta admit (no offense ;) u have a bad taste in music.. (i am

still having troubles believing that its really u that wrote this nonsense, or

maybe u were reviewing the mp3 version wich has a really messed up bpm)

anyways MOTORMAN EP IS MASSSSIIIIVEEEEEEE =] Spirallianz trully redefined

the whole concept of techno music and I GIVE it 10/10 !!!!!!!

Patchfinder sounds a lot like Cream by Midi Miliz (not surprising, that) so

it's a good track but nothing spectacular. Motorman is amazing though. It's

pretty much percussion and that thing that is like a holy sound to me. Great

hypnotic stuff.

You think this is just straight 4 on the floor forget it. The kik is grooved,

the bass goes dubba dubba the metal goes crash. This is just the way i like my

trance,

repeated listenings reveal hidden actors(sounds)and man this track is hard.

Minimal trance for those that enjoy it.By the way Spirallianz is a large

insurance company in

germany so the play on words appears, are they the spiral alliance or the spir

alliens?
