Artist: Various

Title: Inca-Nations

Label: TIP World

Date: 2002

Track listing:

01. Astrix And Atomic Pulse : Scientific Reality

02. Logic Bomb : Vector

03. Saafi Connection : Beyond Your World

04. Talamasca : Speaking Robot (GMS Rmx)

05. Space Cat : Power Up (Oforia Rmx)

06. Sub 6 : Indian Jackpot

07. Beat Bizarre : Swallow

08. Eat Static : Implant (GMS Rmx)

09. Infected Mushroom : Electro Panic

Review:

Astrix ?Scientific Reality , the only negative point about this one is that It

has been already released (full on 6 or Eye to Eye album) & very well known.

Logic Bomb ? Vector, a mix between the usual tones of their last album and some

little more klonk sounds,a good one.

Safi?s track lacks of something, just have a fast tempo.

Talamasca ?Speaking Robot (gms rmx), nothing to say apart that?s a a very good

full on stuff with funny & jerky tones.

Space Cat-Power Up (Oforia rmx),probably the best version of this psytrance

anthem but like Astrix already released and the original is very well known.

Sub 6-Indian Panic delivers a track in their special style ,very weird and

sounds more close this time from a musical torture for ears than something

uplifting.

Here comes the intruder of this compilation,i don?t understand the presence of

this progressive track losts in the middle of psytrance-full on stuffs. Sure

it brings a diverisity to Inca :Nations. It?s not a masterpiece of progressive

reminds me bad old acidtrance like Emmanuel Top ; Ideal stuff indeed for

helping insomniac people to sleep.

Implant Gms?s remix isn?t their best remix, gives the impress by moments of a

ill dog barking.I think they missed this remix this time.

Then Electro Panic, an honest stuff from infected mushroom-yahel not

brainblasting, maybe too linear.

To sum up, for me the best stufs are the 5 first tracks in this order :

4( highlight) ? 1 ? 5 ? 2 ? 3

Tracks 7&9 are honest ; 6 &8 are awful.

A dissapointing compilation due to 2 already released famous tracks selected

(even they?re good) and not coherent (a big gap between tracks from 1 to 5 & 6

to 9) & very inequal tracklist quality.

Mark : 6/10

Now I'm no manic full on disciple, but this certainly sounds good to my ears.

Astrix kicks things off with the excellent "Scientific Reality" rmx. Typical

nu-israeli bassline/percussions, but the hi end melodies and efx make this

song for me as they actually convey some sense of emotion (to say nothing of

the superbly orchestrated breakdown). Logic Bomb follow with another

memorable contribution. Psychedelic and melodic, just the way I like it. The

Safi Connection track just doesn't do it for me and has nothing new on offer.

One of the weakest tracks here. Up next is one of the absolute highlights, an

altogether surprise (to me at least) coming from the soiled hands of Riktam

and Bansi. The first 3 minutes or so are standard GMS tedium, but then...

yeah, just listen to this part and tell me you don't go nuts! Oforia pops up

next with the best mix of Power Up to date. The first couple minutes sound

like something off of BP Empire (nothing wrong with that ;), and then the

familiar melody, though wonderfully transmogrified, enters the mix, and

everything falls into place. A beautiful track, and another one of the

highlights. "Indian Jackpot" is a bit of an oddball. Not quite full on, not

quite minimal, and not quite interesting. It ultimately fails to impress (and

I don't really care for all the vocoded sample loops, see track 9 for the

proper way to do this). The last 3 songs are all upcoming TIP singles, which

probably explains why they all sound nothing alike. Beat Bizarre's "Swallow"

is another stellar outing from the Danish duo, though perhaps a bit out of

place. It's a a tad more linear than some of their earlier work, but still

retains the refreshing elements that make their music so distinctive. Next up

we have another GMS remix, this time of Eat Static's classic 1994 track

"Implant". Now this could have (should have?) been another classic, but

instead it's too stale and too tame. There are some key moments, but they're

in short supply. The last track finds Infected and Yahel collaborating yet

again, this time on the superb "Electro Panic", my favorite songs here. Erez

and Duvdev have clearly reached a new level of production, and their

songwriting faculties remain as strong as they ever were. This track and the

Fly Agaric collaboration I think are both contenders for track of the year

honors. In summation, you have 6 belters, and 3 duds, yielding a fairly

strong hit ration of 66%. Highlights for me are tracks 9, 4, and 7. I'll

give the whole thing an 8/10

TIPworld kinda solely directs whats popular in the more Full-On vein and for

many the psychedelic future thereful doesn't look too bright since GMS, not

exactly known for subtlelity, are crowned as main inspirators. That woulden't

be so bad if we got classics like 'Salvia Divorum' or 'Midnight Sun remix' but

this smells like overdosing on what we already heard numerous times. The only

standout track is Sub6 imo, kinda clubby but in a good way. Refreshing. The

rest of the tunes are fine really, especially 1,4,5 and 8 but lets not

overexploit this particular style. TIPworld should seriously scout some fresh

talent that aren't audioslaves of Bansi and Riktam. 6.5/10.

An uneven compilation. Parts of it are breathtaking - the Talamasca track is an

instant classic with Talamasca's usual melodic brilliance, the Space Cat, Sub6

and Safi Connection tracks are good too. However, the Logic Bomb and Astrix

tracks are nothing special, and as the other reviewers note, tend to recycle a

slightly monotonous GMS kind of sound. I can't comment on the other tracks as

I've got the vinyl which doesn't have them. So a mixed bag then, not quite up

to the very high standard of "Assassinations" which deserves its recommended

status. 7/10

I disagree. Every track is solid on this compilation. Comparing tracks to

others and THEN rating their comparative goodness isn't always reliable in

reviews. Each track has something unique to offer, and just because a sound

is similar to that of another artist, who's to say who copied who? Perhaps

they've never even heard of one another! Anyway, great release. I liked

everything.

up to date Inca-Nations is the last compilation in the seria. It starts with

very famous track by Astrix And Atomic Pulse : Scientific Reality, the new

popular musicians from Israel. Logic bomb represents a quality and powerfull

track.Saafi Connection : Beyond Your World nothing quite inrteresting in this

track made in typical morden sound. Two good remixes on two good trax by

Riktam & Basni. One of the most known version of the famous Space Cat : Power

Up. also made in the style close to Astrix or Psydrop. Sub 6 : Indian Jackpot

a refreshing groovy track with progressive house touch. Again very quality

minimal by Beat Bizzare. In the end there is a very dissapointing track by one

of my favorites band. Infected Mushroom : Electro Panic absolutely standart

track, no any new idea or great melody. Littel bit spoils impression upon the

compilation. To suummarise everything i think we have anothe quality and

melodic comp from T.I,P. World. i think it dezervs the second place in this

seria, but maybe later i will change ma opinion.

Ok, I have to eat humble pie on this compilation and admit that it is a worthy

addition to the noble line of "-nation" compilations from Tip. In particular,

I was wrong about Logic Bomb's "Vector" which is a great track in typical

Logic style. All of the other tracks are equally excellent, though keep in

mind that I don't have the last three as I have the vinyl. I still find the

Astrix track a little obvious and "commercial", but thank the god of robots

that GMS don't murder Talamasca's classic. A very good compilation that you

really should own; in fact you should own the entire "-nations" series which

is one of the best, if not the best, series of compilations of psychedelic

music. 9/10 ~*~
